Right. Seeing as people are doing a Top 100/200 of the decade etc. I decided I couldn't be arsed to do one, so you get my Top 50 R&B (Well close enough ha!) songs of the decade. I know some may be debateable and you may not like some etc... but afterall it is my countdown and you don't have to comment if you don't want too heehee.gif

This will start as soon as I have come up with an order of my songs LOL.

Let's get this underway! (I'm sure i've missed off loads of brilliant tracks, but ah well tongue.gif) Here we go:

50: Beyonce 'Halo' [UK Chart Peak: 4] (Year: 2009)

First up is an artist, who I should love more, but somehow I just don't. I think she's good, but not anywhere near as good as she is made out to be. 'Halo' however is a very good song. It's just spoilt by her over the top, shouty vocals and got annoying fast. Having said what I just have though, this is the first of 3 solo appearances for Beyonce and 4 if you include the one Destiny's Child entry to come.
-------------------------------
49: Mario Winans 'I Don't Wanna Know' [UK Chart Peak: 1] (Year: 2004)

Next up is a song I hold VERY close to my heart. 'I Don't Wanna Know' was used as the song at my best school friends funeral (Yeah I know sleep.gif - Her parents were KNOBS!) Not the best choice, but I can't make an R&B countdown without having this feature for that very reason alone.
-------------------------------
48: Usher 'Yeah' [UK Chart Peak: 1] (Year: 2004)

Next up is one of the most popular songs of 2004. 'Yeah' was an incredible club track and is as instant as a song can be. The beginning is memorable, as soon as you hear the opening of the song, everyone knows what it is. I think Usher has lost his way a little, now that the likes of Ne-Yo and Chris Brown are around. I still like a couple of his tracks, just none of it comes close to the epicness of the 'Confessions' era!
-------------------------------
47: Ciara 'Oh' [UK Chart Peak: 4] (Year: 2005)

In at 47 is a forgotten gem. In fact, 90% of Ciara's work are forgotten gems imo. The beat on this song is sick. It's a shame this song wasn't as big as it deserved. Ciara surely has to be one of the most underrated artists of this decade? She can dance and sing. This isn't her only appearance in my chart either!
-------------------------------
46: Ne-Yo 'So Sick' [UK Chart Peak: 1] (Year: 2006)

Now it's time for one of the most talented artists of this decade (imo of course tongue.gif). Ne-Yo, is an act who seems to just get stronger and stronger. His debut single was one of my favourite songs from that particular year. I was so pleased when it jump to number 1 after it debuted at 18 back in 2006. He's definately one of my favourite acts ever and you will be seeing him more in this countdown too tongue.gif

Blah gone off 'Halo' and 'So Sick loads. sad.gif 'Yeah' is way overplayed too.

Adore 'Oh' though, I remember loads of people hating it but it's so catchy yet subtle at the same time. wub.gif

45: Nelly Furtado 'Say It Right' [UK Chart Peak: 10] (Year: 2007)

Now we have Nelly Furtado, who appears once more in my countdown, but kicking it off for her is this brilliant song. I think this is one of my favourite Timbaland produced singles. Although she had great singles from the 'Loose' era, I found her album a little under-whelming if i'm honest. Still, looking forward to hearing future English stuff.
-------------------------------
44: Eamon 'Fuck It (I Don't Want You Back)' [UK Chart Peak: 1] (Year: 2004)

Aaah. Back to 2004 (What a brilliant year it was for me wub.gif) I loved the music and I loved life in general then. This song just had to be included as I have so many fond memories of me and my mates always listening to this. Frankee wasn't too bad either, but you can't beat the original imo.
-------------------------------
43: Ne-Yo 'Miss Independant' [UK Chart Peak: 6] (Year: 2008)

Another number and another entry for Ne-Yo! 'Miss Independant' is amazingly produced. The beat, the lyrics and his vocals are perfect. It just further proves as to why he's one of my favourite artists ever! wub.gif Also having Keri in the video may have helped kink.gif
-------------------------------
42: Chipmunk 'Oopsy Daisy' [UK Chart Peak: 1] (Year: 2009)

Time for another newie. 'Oopsy Daisy' is pleasently surprisingly, good! I hated the guy with a passion when he released 'Chip Diddy Chip', and by the time 'Diamond Rings' came around, I was convinced he wouldn't ever make a track I'd like. Oh how I was wrong! This is definately one of my favourite number 1's of 2009 and deserved every bit of success it got!
-------------------------------
41: Pussycat Dolls 'StickWitU' [UK Chart Peak: 1] (Year: 2005)

Coming in at 41 is a beautiful song by Pussycat Dolls. From another brilliant year of my life. 'Stickwitu' was the perfect ballad follow up to a club smash imo. This song showcases their harmonies the best, such a stunning song and proves that the other girls aren't just good at dancing for Nicole.

Love the second group. Stcikwitu is suprisingly good. I even like Eamon (Oh the shame).

40: Destiny's Child 'Lose My Breath' [UK Chart Peak: 2] (Year: 2004)

I'm gonna be honest here, I hated this when I very first heard it. It got released, got everywhere on radio, tv etc... and I fell in LOVE! Before this I thought Destiny's Child were very overrated (Now I find them just slightly overrated heehee.gif). I hated 'Survivor' and 'Independant Women' ESPECIALLY. But this is fantastic and is a real good party starter. I really like the video too. Definately one of Destiny's Childs bests. (Oh and their only entry (as a group) in my countdown too)
-------------------------------
39: Brandy 'Afrodisiac' [UK Chart Peak: 11] (Year: 2004)

Another song from 2004 (It was a good year for R&B music for me). This was one of the songs that turned me into a BIG R&B fan. Very underrated and deserved to go that one place higher and reach Top 10! The production on the track was fresh and I hadn't heard anything like it before.
-------------------------------
38: Shontelle 'T-Shirt' [UK Chart Peak: 6] (Year: 2009)

Time for another track from this year, and where better else to go to than to a good looking, Barbadian (??) singer. No not Rihanna! (although she has some to come on my chart tongue.gif) Shontelle. 'T-Shirt' is a nice little number and is very pleasing on the ears. Her voice is so subtle and has a very nice tone to it. Definately one of my faves of the year so far!
-------------------------------
37: Justin Timberlake 'SexyBack' [UK Chart Peak: 1] (Year: 2006)

Next up is without doubt one of Justin's best tracks ever! The beat is sick and it was the perfect comeback single. The production overall is mesmerizing and pulls you in whether you want it too or not. This isn't Justin's only appearance in my chart, he has another entry coming very soon. But here's hoping his new era is just as pulsating and catchy as this song!
-------------------------------
36: Ciara 'Work' [UK Chart Peak: 52] (Year: 2009)

Now we have Ciara and what is arguably her best ever track! This is probably one of the most undeserving flops ever. The production is immense and with a video like that, this deserved to go Top 10! It's such a shame it didn't catch on as much as it deserved as I think it would have been huge in clubs and stuff, but I didn't hear it once on a night out!

01 Brandy - Afrodisiac
02 Destiny's Child - Lose My Breath
03 Ciara - Work
04 Shontelle - T-Shirt
05 Justin Timberlake - SexyBack

Love all of them though. wub.gif So with you on the DC thing ... 'Survivor' is pretty unlistenable these days.

'Work' is probably Ciara's 2nd best song behind 'Like A Boy'! (Well, imo). Love Shontelle & JT too and Brandy is just amazing <3.

35: P. Diddy feat. Keyshia Cole 'Last Night' [UK Chart Peak: 14] (Year: 2007)

Up next it's time for an artist that when he's good, he's very good! But when he's crap, he's really crap. But this song is far from "Crap". I love it. It's different to any other song I thought and although this is the first of two entries from Diddy, I didn't necessarily dislike the other two singles that didn't make this countdown. I also must say that, despite loving the "Press Play" era singles so much, I have never heard the album! (Apparently it's crap so I think I won't be listening to it anytime soon either! LOL
-------------------------------
34: Ne-Yo 'Sexy Love' [UK Chart Peak: 5] (Year: 2006)

Time for another Ne-Yo single. 'Sexy Love' is the one I feel everyone forgets about, it really doesn't deserve to be forgotten sad.gif The beat is slick and Ne-Yo's vocals are really pleasing on this. Ne-Yo reminds me of Rihanna in the sense that he seems to improve with each era as his first two albums (like Rihanna's) were hug letdowns after brilliant singles, but they have produced some forgotten gems (This and 'If It's Loving That You Want').
-------------------------------
33: Chris Brown 'Forever' [UK Chart Peak: 4] (Year: 2008)

I think it's time for the first of two entries for Chris. Yes he's a knob. Yes he's a bit of a prick too, but there simply is no denying he makes brillant music. 'Forever' is an amazing piece of electro-n-b. 'Exclusive' was a brilliant album and there is still one more Chris Brown single still to come.
-------------------------------
32: Big Brovaz 'Baby Boy' [UK Chart Peak: 4] (Year: 2003)

Next up we have Booty Luv and the 4 others heehee.gif Yep Big Brovaz with the smash hit 'Baby Boy'. I remember watching CD:UK performances and seeing this on TOTP Saturday etc... (they must bring them back!) it was everywhere. Should have been number 1 imo, but there's not much I can do about that now! The video to this is brilliant too.
-------------------------------
31: Justin Timberlake 'My Love' [UK Chart Peak: 2] (Year: 2006)

Here is the last of Justin's entries! I bet you're shocked aren't you? tongue.gif I bet you thought it was 'Cry Me a River' didn't you? heehee.gif As much as I really like that song, this is by far my favourite Justin single. So I love 'SexyBack' and adore 'My Love', I gave this album a try when it was released, and it was shit. Actually I dunno whether it was actually shit or whether I was just disappointed because of how much I loved the first two singles. Will have to have another listen and see.

Baby Boy would have SO been a 2009 #1, it's completely 'now', a bit like Chipmunk's Oopsy Daisy in style

Ciara's Work wasn't just criminally underrated by the British public but also by you! I don't recall it ever making the top ten of your personal chart, it was a song I always kept an eye on after you praised it as being incredible all the time, but didn't it only peak at #11 or #12? heehee.gif

LMAO! Yeah sad.gif It's actually one of my biggest "didn't make Top 10" regrets sad.gif I bloody loved it, TBH looking back I don't know why it didn't make it! Still had a good run though! 'Taking Back My Love' stylee cool2.gif

30: Kelis feat. Andre 3000 'Millionaire' [UK Chart Peak: 3] (Year: 2004)

Now it's time for an artist that I actually don't like very much. Kelis. I personally find her material crap. Bar a couple of songs which have made this chart ohmy.gif 'Millionaire' still sounds so fresh and deserved to match the success of the overrated and awful 'Milkshake' at least! This was one of my summer jams back in 2004 wub.gif I'm glad it became a moderate success, but it seems to be forgotten about sad.gif
-------------------------------
29: Timbaland presents OneRepublic 'Apologize' [UK Chart Peak: 3] (Year: 2007)

Now it's time for some Timbo and the classic 'Apologize'! Not only was it such a stunning song, but it made me discover OneRepublic as a band who are now one of my favourite artists this decade! Although it's not completely different to just OneRepublic's version, it still has the Timbaland stamp and it's what has made this song a modern classic. (If slightly overplayed by radio heehee.gif)
-------------------------------
28: Nelly Furtado feat. Timbaland 'Promiscuous' [UK Chart Peak: 3] (Year: 2006)

Here's another Timbaland song but this time it's Nelly Furtado taking lead. This is by far, my favourite Nelly F single! I don't think anything else comes close. 'Maneater' got boring fast for me, but this is what made me really give her album 'Loose' a go. I really hope she comes back with something equally as good as this. It deserves to get far more recognition than it gets sad.gif
-------------------------------
27: Chris Brown 'With You' [UK Chart Peak: 8] (Year: 2008)

Up now is 'Irreplaceable' part 300! tongue.gif It's Chris Brown with the stunning single 'With You'. This is my favourite Chris Brown track ever and I'm really glad it did as well as it did to say it peaked at number 8! I know it was only last year, but I was convinced it peaked at number 4. But maybe that's because it's Track 4 on his album. LOL. I also wish people would move on from the whole Rihanna thing too. Yes what he did was wrong, but that was almost 9 months or so ago! Rihanna's moved on, 'bout time her fans did too! (I am aware that some of you have - Jack tongue.gif)

26: Rihanna 'Disturbia' [UK Chart Peak: 3] (Year: 2008)

Now it's the first of 3 entries for Ms Fenty! To start it off for her is the smash 'Disturbia'! I love how this song is so dark and moody but is still so commercially accessible at the same time. This is definately her best video as it suits and goes very well with the song. The other two Rihanna tracks still to come are also taken from her brilliant 3rd album 'Good Girl Gone Bad', any guesses as to what they are? kink.gif
