omg TIDAL again. Please stop this.
I really like the song and video though. Feels like a bit of a low key release though. |

ugh i was just having a conversation with my friend there. i love how beyoncé has totally embraced her roots and has put it into her music, because ever since 'beyoncé' her music has felt SO 100% her... and thats amazing considering like 5-10 years ago people were accusing her of acting white and bleaching lmao. songs like this really tap into her experience unapologetically to the point it's not even braggadocio it's just facts - she runs it all

I was gonna bite my tongue as I don't like people misinterpreting my high standards and well-placed cynicism (), but on first listen, where is the tune? A lot of her songs have worked well because they have that. I really think it would be a mistake to put this out there as a first single although there's a good chance I could be wrong.
Fair play for talking about the issues she does in the song though, I guess. This post has been edited by Griff: Feb 6 2016, 09:29 PM |

The video is amazing. The song is amazing. She completely killed it.
Also, YES at it being free. I love that artwork. The last minute of the song is the best. |

Woah this came out of nowhere.
Completely sold! You can't argue against her being the best in the business when she pulls off that song+visuals+performance package. Aesthetically, the entire video's absolutely exquisite. <3 |

I think this is already easily my favourite '16 song so far.
The video though, the editing is so slick. You can tell that so much effort has gone into the precision of the concepts of several different sets, routines and looks for B. If this doesn't win all of the VMAS, I will not be happy. Not only is the whole thing super swag, but it's also intelligent and evocative, from the lyrics to the colonial imagary which is not only striking but is also slightly uncomfortable when you think about it in context. She totally nailed it. I love the use of Blue, too. |

I'm not big on the song. But that video, you can't deny that! That's a great video.

Joe's already touched upon the lyrics, and here's an article about their importance: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016...ll-to-arms.html
