It's time to bring this to a close.

I have received 19 sets of votes, and they all point towards one winner.

Let's set about this in a proper, mature way, quite enough bouncing off the walls thank you very much. We came here to play guitars.

...don't hurt me for saying that.

We shall aim for a start of 11:00 PM China time. Be there.

We open with one of the more 'controversial' entries, an entry that was an obscure minor DNQ in BJSC years ago. That doesn't matter as no one here has heard it before, so Flash Republic from Riser gets a new lease of life. It's certainly one of the few of its sound in this contest, much of the contest being a lot heavier, so how will it fare?

Riser allows our scoreboard to start with Orla Gartland taking an early lead, followed by Crossfaith.

Dalek and Riser's votes up against each other are quite cool, contrasted. Completely different songs for the most part, but matching on their 6 and 3 pointers. Anyway, Dalek sent a rather nice track by That Handsome Devil, which is a bit of a wearisome band name, but a cool sounding song. It's one of the few still on zero.

Meanwhile, three songs tie for first. Including Jordan's Twister.

SevenSeize sent Zeal & Ardor, something I hear that Bré was after, or, well, knew, because Bré's first confirmed entry was also by Zeal & Ardor, but a different song. Nice band. Pete & The Pirates continue to pull away, but some of the pack below is getting more than one vote and starting to chase the heels of Blood Gets Thin.

Mattias sent a rather heavy screamy song from Polaris. I do always welcome screams and metal so it was nice to see so many (comparatively) in the contest I hosted. The Remedy is fairly low at this point but plenty of time to change that.

Jupiter sent Break-Thru by Dirty Projectors, a song with some rather... weird indie-rock sound effects but still a good amount of valid guitar. It's sitting in the mid-part of the vote at the moment, as it pushes several songs up, but not enough to overtake Blood Gets Thin, which Jupiter did not vote for.

Only Shaded is still on 0. I should just add that in to the scoreboard, but be patient x

Bré sent the beautiful distorted For The Sun, sitting currently in midtable. Very different to everything else in the contest and almost... cooler than everything else too. Perhaps. Matter of opinion.

His votes get SHADED off zero and every song votes, and give us a new leader in Holding Absence, which has received steadily high points over the last few votes and quietly soared just ahead of Blood Get Thin and now War.

Jade sent the rather lovely War, which is doing rather well, one of the songs bunching up against the top of the line. How will it fare tonight?

Keeping our entries secret from each other is a good test to confirm me and Jade just do have super similar taste and aren't subconsciously boosting each other's songs in these contests xx (I think this is the most successful such exchange to date *.* I was actually very close to giving Brutus my 12 as well, aww).

Some people on plug said my song was too short / sounded like it was all the intro which I actually completely agree with, it's kind of a big tease of a song which I wish had a bigger payoff but I just adore the atmosphere of it. Yay for it doing quite well so far x

Holding Absence and Brutus were the songs which most stood out as potential winners iirc x

I was always getting Cleopatrick confused with Crossfaith in this voting process, the sender of Crossfaith confirmed next to Harry and so they were always sitting next to each other in my spreadsheet. And they attracted a similar spread of voters, as Harry gives his 12 to Crossfaith, sending it into the lead.

Jupiter and Riser are hot on its heels though.

FrankLuck was one of the more unusual songs, giving us the eternally underrated Ecca Vandal, who provides us excellent hard rap-rock from the streets of... wherever she's from... Melbourne.

A 12 to Jacob puts him sorta back in contention, but high points to Crossfaith and Jupiter's Break-Thru see those two break free from the pack. All these twists and turns, isn't it exciting?

Hands up who thought Rollo sending a song called Swing Of The Airwaves is immediately obvious? Everyone? Good. It's not just me who sends obvious songs to these things! (the main reason is that when I see swing and guitars in the same sentence my mind immediately turns to Dire Straits, I suppose the 8 minutes and classic rock thing also were slightly obvious signifiers)

Swing Of The Airwaves is a fairly good song that isn't doing that well at the moment, but Rollo snubs the top 2, allowing a few others to catch up. And Jade gets her 12! Which puts her in 3rd.

WhoOdyssey, one of the most prolific indie posters at the moment, a very good point, we like activity and actual expertise amongst our entrants x, sent probably the most indie-rock song in the contest, with an artist and song name that COULD BE EITHER WAY AROUND. I think I'd have liked it better the other way around.

Not much movement towards the top.

Yes it's very short but at least I kept up my record of always having the longest song in the three Nuggets contests I've entered.

I'm pleased Bre was fooled by the Green Lung song on plug. Also happy for Jade to get her first 12,the Brutus song is clearly the best one here.

Lindsey was SHADED. Well, I didn't try to shade her, honest! Great song though, I do really like that sound, reminds me of one of my old entries, Rarity.

She causes a tie at the top! Eagle eyed scoreboard watchers, I gave 14 points to Crossfaith when they got 12 back in Jupiter's votes, so I'm correcting that now. That's the only error I've noticed so far, but perhaps there are more coming, this is entirely mental arithmetic-powered tonight. I swear Bliss sounds very much like a Coldplay X&Y track that's maybe got a few more jingles and liveliness to it. It's good though, and it's certainly up there, maybe not quite contender status, but it is the lowest song that could technically still win off the back of the final two votes.

Pete sent Orla Gartland, a singer-songwriter I swear I've heard of a little bit before. Not that much though, and she's sitting in midtable here. So I did really like pretty much all of the songs entered here, it being a heavier edition of Nuggets and hosting meant my votes were very difficult to decide, great quality y'all. But decide them on song quality I have, and it has yielded us a winner.

'Perish' was a great entry from Lew, shall just pretend that deduction isn't a thing and it came 2nd x Nice to see Dirty Projectors in the top 5 too. Very pleased at an 8th place finish for Marissa & Stephen, switching from Zeal & Ardor to that seems to have been the right move after all assuming 'Built On Ashes' would have done similarly to or worse than 'Don't You Dare'!

Congrats Jade! That was a very standout edition of Nuggets, much much heavier than usual as others have pointed out! I was even surprised how much I liked those heavier tracks, although my fave was the much mellower 'Why Am I Like This'...pleased that my 12 points went to Pete! Wish that had done better and I'm disappointed to see Ecca Vandal in the bottom 3

Discovered some decent new artists in this contest, and it jogged my memory of M5 as well which I remember being on my dad's playlist back at home but it's a great song and will probably enter my Personal Chart in its own right. Oral was maybe a little uninspired but I didn't have anything else and I do love the song so great to see it in the pack - thanks for the people who gave me points (especially the three who gave me 12s!)

Well it wasn't really so much of an anime theme as co-opting the personalities of a few characters who play guitars and creating a sort of consistent image theme. Which actually is probably a theme at that level, fine. I enjoyed putting it all together, no worries guys
