Since Melanie C is clearly still predominantly a physicals seller (on a low scale) I think she should follow this album up with a Greatest Hits album next year. Ride on the "recent top 10 album, a top 10 album in 3 different decades, a top 20 single in 3 different decades, 20+ year solo career" style promotion and aim to get another top 10/20 album. It wouldn't cost much to put together as she would only need to record 1 or 2 new songs for it and then it could be put together quite quickly. She could do different formats again similar to what she has done this time with vinyl, coloured vinyl, cassette, cd, deluxe cd, hmv coloured vinyl etc, it seems like easy money to me and could actually help more of the general public go "oh yeah I loved that track I'll give this a purchase" etc.
I don't think the "GH's don't apply in the streaming market" rule applies to the likes of Mel (or any older artist) as the majority of their sales comes from physicals and downloads anyway. So long intro cut short, what tracklisting would you put together, and what editions would you do etc? Get creative |

So I personally would have a few different editions with different tracklists in order to boost the physical sales from her fanbase. I'd only send the regular edition out to the shops ala the regular MC edition and have the other editions available from her website as it would just be fans buying those not casual buyers...

I really like the idea of a Singles/B-Sides collection. Prince released one when he was alive and it was fabalous. Causal fans will buy it/stream it for the singles, but will discover some hidden gems with the B-Sides.
Maybe for the 25th anniversary of Northern Star in 2024 she can release this collection along with a vinyl release of Northern Star. |

I just think in terms of sales this is a bit of a no brainer for her and would probably be her biggest seller since Beautiful Intentions.

I've been trying to think of a Greatest Hits track list that mixes up the songs, rather than having them in chronological order, but I'm finding it difficult to think of an order that flows well. It's hard to do a mixed up order that flows which is why I went chronological and I actually think chronological works quite well anyway. |

She should do a TLC / Talor and rerecord the songs so they are different but sound the same so she does not have to licence them from virgin.
