It could be a download only number one since it's available on the Greatest Hits album too. A ballad? Not liking that. It means they have actually released MORE ballads than up-tempo numbers think about it!
I'll reserve judgement until I hear it but I was really hoping for an up-tempo number like "Woman." This sounds like it could be just like Goodbye.

I would say they'll put it on the Greatest Hits album. They probably just wanted to release something new as a single, but they'd be a fool not to at least stick "Woman" on the album as a bonus.

Looking at the interview with Geri Halliwell on GMTV yesterday, she said there would be 15 songs on the Greatest Hits album. So that must mean the 12 old singles + "Headlines" + two others.
When they said two new songs, maybe they're not counting Woman as a new song. Fingers crossed there'll be another brand new recording on there as well!

It was rumoured that a new version with Geri was to be released as a single this year, but like every other rumour, it wasn't true.

That's also not true. The entire purpose of Geri going on GMTV was to announce the single! Mel C announced it on Radio 1 at the same time.

in that case probably 30-40k on downloads, then maybe just short of 100k with physicals. I don't expect anything spectacular, except a 10th #1

I think the song will sell over 100k in its first week.
I'm really unsure. Releasing the album the week before could hinder it but if they do it for CIN like I hope they will it could be the biggest selling song of the year - I'd love that seems 'Wannabe' was robbed by a few hundred back in 1996.

Victoria Beckham has been given just four lines to sing on the Spice Girls' comeback track.
According to a report in the Daily Star today, Posh's solo spot in 'Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)' lasts for just fifteen seconds, and she has to share one of her lines with Mel B.
Emma Bunton, who wrote the song with Geri Halliwell, sings a whole verse at the beginning of the track. Halliwell and Mel C also feature heavily.
However, a spokesman for the band insisted: "The verses have all been shared out equally among the five members and they all sing together on the chorus."

The reformed five-piece were shooting their first video together in seven years at Pinewood Studios for their new single 'Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)'.
But it has been claimed that Baby Spice Emma Bunton cried over the late running of the scenes, Melanie Brown whinged about jet lag and Geri Halliwell held up filming by meditating.
Meanwhile Posh Spice Victoria Beckham demanded that an assistant constantly give her fruit and champagne and even Sporty Spice Mel C was finding the shoot difficult and wanted to go home as soon as she could.
A source told The Sun: "Things were very delayed. The director was tearing his hair out and threatened to walk.
"The girls were so tired and Emma was crying as the shoot just went on and on. Geri kept slowing things down by meditating and doing strange spiritual stuff.
The Spice Girls' new single is this year's Children in Need song and is due for release on November 19.

Between shots, Mel B rushed off the set and into a corridor to rehearse a new routine with her Dancing With The Stars partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
Emma was on hand to give ballroom dance advice gained during her own stint on Strictly Come Dancing, and all of the girls gave Maksim their own light-hearted tips on how to best handle Mel B! And if anybody should know how to handle her… it’s the Spice Girls.

I think both articles are rubbish to be honest. There's probably a shred of truth in the Sun article as it's obvious there are going to be moans about the video taking ages as it's a long and stressful process that most of the girls haven't been doing in a while.
However the official site is definitely putting too much of a squeaky clean image on things! I find it very hard to swallow.

I mean you can tell when they did that comeback video that some of the atmosphere between them is fake but I doubt they are arguing and fighting as much as The Sun supposedly says.
I mean it's obvious they are just doing this for the money because their solo careers have washed up but I'm not complaining -= I've waited 9 years for this since the last time they were together and after all the 'rumours' and whatever FINALLY it is upon us so I don't give a $h!t what that tossrag reports, I wouldn't care if they were clawing at each other.

Its like the whole westlife vs spice girls thing that the papers did - westlife said on tv today it was a like a 2 minute dissagreement but they are all friends it was no big deal - the papers made out like they were having a battle and not friends and everything *rolls eyes*

The papers just want to sell copies. They pick up on one word that is said or one little disagreement and magnify it by 1000...
Though Westlife did have beef with Mel C YEARS ago on CD:UK she did a review of upcoming singles and totally ripped into them and another week they were going to against her track 'Yeh Yeh Yeh' but said they actually quite liked it ha.

Nah she's older than 34. I've always doubted that 1972 is her real birthdate. Also, if you read the biographies thing on the website it mentions how she was so much older than the rest of the band. If you believe she is 34 then that only makes her a year or so older...

Has anyone noticed how much vocals Vics has on it she has a lot! I never notcied, but in the 2nd half she sings most of the time! like back up, so u can't hear that well.
If only they replaced Geri's part with Mel B

True bill, but the way it was written didn't seem like it was made up. They never actually mentioned the name of the song, just a couple of lyrics that appear on the B-side to Headlines.

Has anyone been on the MTV website recently?? Well they have a chart for their MTV Flux channel and i saw that Spice Girls new single Headlines is at number 12! Normally wouldn't be too fussed but its below so much rubbish! So i thought i'd take a stand and try get some people involved. You should check it out - [url]http://www.mtv.co.uk/flux/playlist[url] this song really deserves to be higher in the chart. Many of us have been waiting years for the Spice Girls to release a new track and i recon we should get behind it and show people that they've still got it!
