Title says it all.
My example is Electric Light Orchestra..(ELO). 5 flop albums, 2 top 40, 3 failed to chart. not much single success except for 2 top tens at the start. Then they released 'A new world record' and that was the first of a string of top 10 albums, including 2 number ones....and a string top ten singles...became one of the biggest bands of the seventies.
Whats your example)s)?.

David Bowie's early albums didn't exactly set the world alight.

Bee Gees. They had a period in the early 70’s where they struggled.

It's not necessarily true that artists need to have hits early on or get dropped even now, look at Portugal. The Man finally having a hit single after 13 years and 7 albums of relative obscurity tongue.gif

David Bowie did get dropped after his first album anyway.

Years ago artists were given time to develop but a bit like life nowadays everything is all about instant as no one likes to wait for anything. Record companies drop people far to quickly, sometimes people don't focus on the long game.

Louisa hasn't released a single for nearly a whole year now. I think she's been quietly dropped and her album won't be coming.

And Matt Terry is so getting dropped sometime this year.
