Confirmed on Instagram recently that they're in the process of writing their third studio album which I am so hyped for!
I was hoping we'd get a fifth single from Every Open Eye because they repackaged the album, but that doesn't seem likely now.
Looking forward to new stuff!
Still have Every Open Eye on regular rotation, still amazed by how good they were on tour. Major hype for this.
However put it in pop because they're literally pure pop
Every Open Eye was such a fab album so hyped for this!
Really looking forward to this - loved their last album!
There's not a lot of information about CHVRCHES' third album, but a new song from them called "Get Out" will be released on February 2 according to the latest Polydor/Island and Capitol/Vertigo press newsletter.
This is so exciting I never expect them to come back when they do. One of my favourite bands in music who feel bigger than their chart record would suggest too
Already a thread on this: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=199613&hl
Merged the topics!
Genuinely can't wait for CHVRCHES' third album, I really liked The Bones of What You Believe but I adored Every Open Eye and ended up listening through it on repeat. Would say that EOE is the better album so hoping for good things for the third!
Oh it has been too long... I am very interested in this. I don't want to put my expectations too high but if they can give me a couple of tunes on par with the ones from EOE then I will be satisfied.
So ready for a new single! *.*
Hype!
Both of their first two albums were great.
Bones Of What You Believe I have on CD and Every Open Eye on white vinyl
they’ve worked with greg kurstin on this and it’s their “most pop” and “most vulnerable” stuff to date
oh they’ve worked with dave stewert of the eurythmics too
Really excited.
Their third album is called Love Is Dead and it has been produced by Greg Kurstin.
Their social media pages have been wiped and https://twitter.com/CHVRCHES/status/958354201859387394 has been posted.
this sounds incredible omg
"Get Out" premieres at 7:30pm. GMT on BBC Radio 1 tonight.
Excited!!
Looking forward to this - a band I do really like!
Love it. So CHVRCHES by numbers but SO GOOD. (Not like that's a bad thing to me anyway)
OMG LEGIT SO HAPPY WE HAVE SOMETHING NEW FROM THEM. This is fabulous
Liking this on first listen! Not 1 single I haven't liked by them so far. All 7/10 plus.
This is lush! Love it!
Rage on them releasing while I'm at work...excited to hear this!
Good song! The vocal does remind me of Avril Lavigne a bit!
Wow this is fabulous on first listen, I have both of their albums. So glad they are back.
Sounds like a dance music Paramore
I love the verses and the vibe of it, but that chorus completely ruins it for me.
Still, a Greg Kurstin produced CHVRCHES album excites me! The last album was really good.
great on 1st listen
Pretty goooooooòd *.*
This is really good and it's wonderful to have them back, but I can't lie and say I wasn't hoping for a bit more progression in sound.
Quite good, but yeah they've definitely been taking cues from Hayley Williams. Not really what I was hoping for from them but actually still enjoyable, didn't foresee them toning down the electro but it works fairly well all the same. Intrigued to see what direction the album goes in now.
This is a banger
everything feels right again with CHVRCHES being back
i spot a Jamie xx - Gosh sample in there, a very good source to take from *.*
I like this but I’m not too big on the chorus Might take a few more listens to get into but I’ve liked some of their older stuff so maybe
Debuted at #82 which is higher than anything from Every Open Eye *.*
An announcement of the album is expected to be revealed in the following days. The artwork and the tracklisting, which has 13 songs, are out there.
"My Enemy", a song which features Matt Berninger of The National, will be released next Friday, presumably as an instant grat.
the National guy has an incredible voice, this has potential to be amazing!!
1. Graffiti
2. Get Out
3. Deliverance
4. My Enemy (feat. Matt Berninger)
5. Forever
6. Never Say Die
7. Miracle
8. Graves
9. Heaven/Hell
10. God’s Plan
11. Really Gone
12. ii
13. Wonderland
Still adore 'Get Out'! Really excited for this.
Looking forward to this - no word of an actual release date still though?
Now this is more like it, I feel like it's building up to a huge event that never comes, BUT the production and ~vibes~ are great. Consider me on board again (Get Out is growing on me admittedly).
Album out May 25th!
They teamed up with THE NATIONAL? Chvrches, you're giving 2014 me life
Ooh this is anthemic, atmospheric and all. Not as hard hitting as Get Out but much more what I want and expect from Chvrches.
oh my amazing, is this single #2 then?
Yeah this is amazing *.*
i still don't get why get out hasn't been bigger, it's a brilliant track and pretty accessible and has airplay + good placed in playlists
Never Say Die is out tomorrow it seems
i adore CHVRCHES and think they hold an immense amount of potential but everything from this era thus far feels very half-baked and lacking in vision— they are capable of a heck more
"Never Say Die" is so far the best one for me
'Never Say Die'! I really wasn't expecting the chorus to blow up that way!! Shiiiit
'Get Out' remixes were released last week
Miracle is out at midnight tonight. It is premiering as Annie Mac's Hottest Record at 7:30pm tonight on Radio 1!
Yes Miracle is fantastic! Produced with Steve Mac too!
THIS IS SO GOOD.
Another underwhelming song for me.
There is no progression in their sound, and this one is just a bit too Imagine Dragons.
Liking "Miracle" on first listen - is this the new single, or just a grat/buzz?
that One Bit remix of Get Out
haven't really been into of any of the singles though unfortunately
They're filming a video for something at the moment! It'll be the first proper video of the era surprisingly!
They didn't do "Miracle" on SLFN? Surprised! Love both tracks though
First listen to the album: disappointed. All a bit samey. Neither as daring as their first album nor as energetic as their second.
Hopefully it will be a grower. Standout tracks are unfortunately still Get Out and My Enemy.
Had this on on my way to work this morning. Graffiti is a great opener and definitely needs to be a single at some point. I agree with Jupiter, the album is definitely lacking that oomph that made Every Open Eye special.
Love love love love love this album! Its not spectacular but its so seamless and flows so nicely, its just lush LOVE Never Say Die and Deliverance in particular of the new tracks
One of my fave albums of the year so far! Miracle is so goood!!
Good album, though not as grand as their previous two.
The more I hear this album, the more I love it.
Currently, 'Graves' is THAT SONG.
What a B A N G E R
This album is so incredibly disappointing. Graffiti is pretty good, Heaven/Hell is decent and Wonderland is nice, but on balance it feels horribly phoned-in, the production is nothing special at all (whereas Every Open Eye glittered and shimmered constantly in delightful and unexpected ways) and Lauren sounds bored.
Such a shame. The crap #7 debut is all it deserved.
I've given this a first listen (a bit overshadowed by Snow Patrol and then Shawn Mendes releases) - I quite enjoyed it, though wasn't blown away. Track 1 "Graffiti" sounds like an obvious single to me.
It's not a good sign that I'd rather go back to the tracks from the previous two albums. I'm sure there are a few that'll grow on me though, it's sounding like a less essential copy of EOE right now. Graves and Forever are sounding promising I suppose. And God's Plan is good for the token male-vocalled track, some really nice production on that.
But yes, they could be more than this.
^Give it a few more listens, it's hard to tell with the other albums having the advantage of you (and me!) knowing them well already.
I'm only halfway through on my 1st listen but I've loving Never Say Die right now. Graffiti and Get Out were great too. Miracle's great too.
The general sound/ vibe is maybe a little safe (so yeah, quite like Every Open Eye) but on the whole a really solid effort, the kind of awesome output I expect from CHVRCHES. This is only after listening to half of it but it'd be good to see more experimentation on their next one perhaps. I know artists can't win, they change, people want their old stuff, they don't, people want something different haha. Adore what I've heard so far though, it does have a distinct sound from EOE despite being quite similar.
EOE was the artist winning though - building on their popular sound and improving on it so that it wasn't too different from what we liked them for at first, but better, with some really incredible deft pop touches, particularly the highs of Empty Threat and Clearest Blue. Euphoric improvement. The problem is that it was gonna be hard to follow this up without a left-field change of sound and unfortunately they've gone the safe route which is less satisfying.
I agree with what Jark said, see if Every Open Eye didn't exist, this would feel really good but comparing one's production to the other, this doesn't feel nearly as exciting, particularly like Get Out and Graffiti which are just quite boring. And given EOE's probably the pop album I've played the most over the last few years, I should be bored of it and be eager to pick up something new.
though now I've said that I'm starting to be impressed with the production on Never Say Die so you may be right idk
Miracle remix out now
Great performance of Miracle from TRNSMT Festival
Split out into singles and spread out over a while this might be alright actually.
H and M is playing Deliverance right now and it sounded pretty amazing instore, heard it shopping the other day and it sounds way more euphoric than within the album.
I do find albums sometimes don’t come alive until a few singles have been released; I look forward to seeing what is to be released from this album.
They covered Kendrick for Like A Version!
They also performed Graffiti too which is apparently the next single!
Grafitti sounding so much better there, I think this album might actually age alright.
Honestly I hear SO MUCH Paramore in so many of the songs on this album though, in the structure and vocal delivery and everything. They definitely had some writing sessions with Hayley!
Actual Graffiti video coming tomorrow
M-22 Remix of Graffiti is out this week
Hansa EP coming on Friday featuring 5 reworked and stripped back tracks from the album.
^^ Lewis I searched CHVRCHES M-22 on Apple Music and saw the remix and queued it up expecting it to be Miracle and it turned out to be Graffiti! I did wonder why they were releasing a remix of Miracle so late! I appreciate Miracle a lot more than I did at the time - great track - but Graffiti is also very good! Out Of My Head was a decent distraction but I forgot how good Graffiti was in the process.
Oops I hadn't realised I had said Miracle
Haha, made me laugh when I realised!
Nice to see Graffiti now being pushed as a single with its Radio 1 add this week. Comes just in time for their tour starting this week with Let’s Eat Grandma as support.
A new version of Forever is coming tomorrow
Guess they’re pushing this now? Makes sense with its big exposure in Elite on Netflix
Hmm not one of my favourites on the album that isn't already a single, 'Heaven/Hell' and 'Deliverance' deserve this.
The Separate but Together version is being released tomorrow
Love Separate but Together version. Lauren's voice is angelic & sweeter than the orig studio ver
Love it too
