Chart Commentary

Records are being broken on both charts this week, with one of the busiest weeks at the top end of my chart ever, we have the biggest drop from #1 to date. The Tide have dropped six places to #7 with their single Click My Fingers and don't be fooled, I'm still really liking it, but a huge lump of high climbers have dominated more so all week! More on the album chart records in just a bit. It breaks the 1-6 record set by Boy in Paris by Diana Vickers in 2012.



Mollie King has climbed 13 places to be this week's #1 on her first full week of availability. Back to You is technically her fifth #1 so far, achieving four as a member of The Saturdays. She is the first member of the group to achieve a solo credit to her name, although Vanessa White has released solo material post-Saturdays that hasn't made my chart at all. The Saturdays' chart history is a bit of a mess, bearing in mind that my chart started at the very end of 2011 so 30 Days was the first brand new single to make my chart! Last Call however was my first ever #1, simultaneously topping the chart with its parent album On Your Radar all the way back in week 1. Also bear in mind that my chart was initially a top 10, before being expanded to a top 15, top 20, top 30 and then to the top 40 it is currently.

Mollie's idol and biggest inspiration is just behind her in the singles chart, with Britney Spears climbing 25 places to #2 with Do You Wanna Come Over?, this week's highest climber. The song gives Britney her fifth top 2 hit, while she also hogs the top 2 spots in the album chart. This is the first time anyone has ever occupied both spots in the album chart top 2, as well as the first time anyone has knocked themselves off the album chart #1! New album Glory knocks The Singles Collection off the top quite easily, and in doing so, it becomes the 100th album chart #1 in my chart since it began! Do You Wanna Come Over? is joined by new entries Love Me Down and Man On the Moon in the singles chart, as well as first single Make Me... still in the top 10.

Up from #17 to #4 this week is Ellie Goulding with soundtrack single Still Falling for You. Ellie is perhaps one of the most notable artists in my chart to not achieve a #1 single so far, although if my chart started earlier, Your Song would have no doubt made the top! In fact, my entire Ellie chart history up to and including Burn is quite questionable sadly, for one of my favourite artists of recent years, and I don't find it representative at all these days.

Also this week, completing an all-female top 4, the highest new entry comes from American singer/songwriter Catey Shaw (pictured), with the Tommy Walker remix of her single The Ransom. It's very rare that I'll specify a remix when charting a song, and I only do it in extreme cases where I don't particularly like the original (in the case of The Ransom) or the remix is dramatically different to the original and I prefer that version (see: Mariah Carey - Triumphant (Vintage Throwback Mix)). This remix is new in at #3.

Shawn Mendes and Henrik Høven bring the total of new songs in the top 10 to six, with all six occupying the top 6 spots in my chart. This is the first chart ever where the top 5 has not featured a single song from the previous week's top 5.

Ben Weighill climbs 19 places with Time After Time, giving him a new chart peak. Also achieving a new chart peak this week (in addition to Mollie King and Catey Shaw as previously mentioned) is Rich Homie Quan, who makes his debut as a featured artist on the new Austin Mahone single Send It, which is new at #28.

What a jump there for Mollie! I'm not quite all over it yet but it was good enough to just scrape into my chart, so not bad at all! A solid enough debut that just needs more time to grow further really.

'Do You Wanna Come Over?' is the big standout in your top 5! Britney is releasing such exciting music right now! This really is such a 00s throwback yet in a modernised way at the same time!! Very 'She Wants To Move' (by NERD) with its playfulness and the guitar arrangement!

I was pleasantly surprised by 'Click My Fingers' when you played it on plug.dj that time, a pretty good chorus actually!

'Make Me...' is another notable highlight from your top 10, yessss at the Britney loving here As for the rest of your chart, I'm also liking: twenty one pilots, Dua Lipa, Tove Lo, MØ, Olly Murs, Clean Bandit feat. Louisa Johnson & Frans <3 Great stuff *.*
