So this was Umbrella season back in '07? Still feel that was a pretty deserving #1 for all those weeks. Although back then even after that success I wouldnt've predicted Rihanna to've gone on and done everything that she's done since, and still be going strong and have the image she has nowadays.

Fergie either for that matter. Love her or hate her, props to her for making sexy music videos in her 40s.

That 2012 top 5 is the definition of mixed fortunes since:

1- SPECTRUM (SAY MY NAME)- Florence + The Machine (64,816) along with Calvin, gone from strength to strength since
2- PAYPHONE- Maroon 5 Ft Wiz Khalifa (63,349) the start of a surprise continued commercial resurgence
3- THIS IS LOVE- Will.i.am Ft Eva Simons (50,052) probably middling. the start of his marmite era and random UK solo success
4- DON’T WAKE ME UP- Chris Brown (48,600) I don't even know how people feel about him any more
5- BLACK HEART- Stooshe (44,900) the less said the better

I forgot just how lucky One Dance was to stay at number 1 for all those weeks, 6 weeks less than 50k!

Same with Umbrella, managed all those weeks on such low sales.

15 years since Gareth Gates was at number one? Now I feel old! I heard 'Anyone of Us' on the radio again the other day, more Abba-esque than I remember it being!

It was a cover of a Swedish song "Nagot Som Kan Handa" by Mathias Holmgren I believe. He probably was on Swedish Idol or something laugh.gif

Really hope we hear some snippets of Public Service Broadcasting when they do the top 5 album countdown. Very rarely hear them on Radio 1.

Biography

Edward Christopher Sheeran (born 17 February 1991) is an English singer-songwriter, guitarist and record producer. He was born in Halifax, West Yorkshire, and raised in Framlingham, Suffolk. He attended the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, Surrey, as an undergraduate from the age of 18 in autumn 2009. In early 2011, Sheeran independently released the extended play, No. 5 Collaborations Project. After signing with Asylum Records, his debut album, + (read as "plus"), was released on 9 September 2011 and has since been certified seven-times platinum in the UK. The album contains the single "The A Team", which earned him the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. In 2012, Sheeran won the Brit Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act.

Sheeran's popularity abroad began in 2012. In the US, he made a guest appearance on Taylor Swift's fourth studio album, Red. "The A Team" was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards, where he performed the song with Elton John. He spent much of 2013 opening for Swift's The Red Tour in North America dates. His second studio album, x (read as "multiply"), was released on 23 June 2014. It peaked at number one in the UK and the US. In 2015, x won the Brit Award for Album of the Year, and he received the Ivor Novello Award for Songwriter of the Year. His single from x, "Thinking Out Loud", earned him two Grammy Awards at the 2016 ceremony: Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.

Sheeran's third album, ÷ ("divide"), was released in March 2017. The album debuted at number one in the UK, the US and other major markets. The first two singles from the album, "Shape of You" and "Castle on the Hill", were released in January 2017 and broke records in a number of countries, including the UK, Australia and Germany, by debuting in the top two positions of the charts. He also became the first artist to have two songs debut in the US top 10 in the same week. Sheeran appeared on Debrett's 2017 list of the most influential people in the UK.

Joseph, just a suggestion but could you possibly say if a song has ACR this week on your song posts? It'd be really helpful if you just put it somewhere but it's just an idea biggrin.gif

Biography

The Chainsmokers
The Chainsmokers are an American DJ duo consisting of Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall.

The duo had a top twenty single in several countries with their 2014 song "#Selfie", reaching number sixteen on the US Billboard Hot 100, number three in Australia, and number eleven in the United Kingdom. They released their debut EP, Bouquet, in October 2015. Their following single "Roses" reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, while "Don't Let Me Down" became their first top 5 single. "Closer", featuring vocals from Halsey, became their first number-one single on the chart.

Coldplay
Coldplay are a British rock band formed in 1996 by lead vocalist Chris Martin and lead guitarist Jonny Buckland at University College London. After they formed under the name Pectoralz, Guy Berryman joined the group as a bassist and they changed their name to Starfish. Will Champion joined as a drummer, backing vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist, completing the line-up. Manager Phil Harvey is often considered an unofficial fifth member. The band renamed themselves "Coldplay" in 1998, before recording and releasing three EPs; Safety in 1998, Brothers & Sisters as a single in 1999 and The Blue Room in the same year. The latter was their first release on a major label, after signing to Parlophone.

Coldplay achieved worldwide fame with the release of the single "Yellow" in 2000, followed in the same year by their debut album Parachutes, which was nominated for the Mercury Prize. The band's second album, A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002), was released to critical acclaim and won awards including NME's Album of the Year. Their next release, X&Y, the bestselling album worldwide in 2005, received mostly positive reviews, though some critics felt it was inferior to its predecessor. Their fourth studio album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008), was produced by Brian Eno and released to largely positive reviews, earning several Grammy Award nominations and wins at the 51st Grammy Awards. In October 2011, Coldplay released their fifth studio album, Mylo Xyloto, which topped the charts in over 34 countries and was the UK's best-selling rock album of 2011, but received mixed reviews. In May 2014, they released their sixth album, Ghost Stories, which also received mixed reviews and topped the iTunes Store albums charts in over 100 countries. In December 2015, the band released their seventh album, A Head Full of Dreams, which reached the top two in most major markets, but received generally mixed reviews.

The band have won a number of music awards throughout their career, including eight Brit Awards—winning Best British Group three times—five MTV Video Music Awards and seven Grammy Awards from 25 nominations. Coldplay have sold more than 80 million records worldwide. In December 2009, Rolling Stone readers voted the group the fourth-best artist of the 2000s. Coldplay have been an active supporter of various social and political causes, such as Oxfam's Make Trade Fair campaign and Amnesty International. The group have also performed at various charity projects such as Band Aid 20, Live 8, Sound Relief, Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief, The Secret Policeman's Ball, Sport Relief and the UK's Teenage Cancer Trust.

Not really doing it for me, Demi's vocals don't suit it imo.
