Playing 'Light On' now, it's sounding good, really enjoying that smooth electric backing tune and her voice is nice as well! The others in your Top 10 are all fairly nice however none really stuck out that much for me sadly.

5. Jonas Brothers "Only Human"

There was much to be surprised about last year, not least of which was the return of the Jonas Brothers. "Only Human" was their only post-album single and it was a phenomenal choice. It is very heavily retro-influenced and yet couldn't have sounded more fresh! The video is just as much of a throwback treat and so much fun to watch. It screamed hit, but I guess not loud enough for the UK to hear it. sad.gif It was a radio staple here and grew on me for four whole months, finally becoming my #1 in December. Could've been even higher if it hadn't peaked so late in the year…

4. Mabel "Don’t Call Me Up"

If I'm being honest, Mabel's sudden switch from R&B to pop was jarring to me at first. Everyone was saying "Don’t Call Me Up" would be her own "New Rules" moment, and all I could think was…no! That wasn't what I wanted. To make a long story short, my resistance was futile, it surged from #31 to #1 on my chart in March and here it is at #4 on my EOY laugh.gif
Previous EOY history: "Finders Keepers" (#56, 2017), "Fine Line" (#12, 2018)

3. Kygo & Whitney Houston "Higher Love"

I mean, you can't just say you're going to remix Whitney unless you know you can really do justice to it. First of all, I didn't think anyone could do a better job than Duke Dumont sampling Whitney on "I Got U". On top of that, "Firestone" is the only Kygo song I could recall liking; otherwise he hasn't impressed me, and therefore my expectations were low. Alas, it was a triumph, and even that is a major understatement. I wasn't too surprised to see "Higher Love" so highly praised here, but seeing the public latch on to it too was just surreal! I still can barely believe it was a top-two hit in the UK, and even its minimal success in the US was really a victory. It's crazy that most of us never knew she even covered this song, and now I think you could legitimately include it with her classics. Well done to her and Kygo both.

catching up;
love Nothing Breaks Like A Heart, it was even higher in my EOY which I never expected would happen for a Miley Cyrus song.
One Touch was lovely but not one of my top faves of either of them, the chart success it got seemed about right for it.
surprised 3 Nights never made the US chart but at least we had it get big, was one of my fave indie pop songs of the last few years.
Never Really Over was so good for Katy and surprisingly so considering the few singles released before and after weren't at all.
Don't Call Me Up another of my fave pop songs of the year.
love Wish You Well and Higher Love too of course.

'Don't Call Me Up' and 'Higher Love' these are just great tunes to listen to. 'Don't Call Me Up' one of my favourite songs of 2019.

2. Miley Cyrus "Mother’s Daughter"

Without a doubt, the highlight of my birthday last year was hearing this for the first time on the chart show. I really misjudged both the artwork and the name "Mother’s Daughter" and figured this would be Miley singing some sort of folky song about her mom. That was a hilariously wrong prediction BUT that's not why I was in awe on first listen. The lyrics, the attitude, the everything, she did THAT! The boldest record I've ever heard from her, and that's saying a lot. It hurt to see one of her best songs be so overlooked, barely top 30 in the UK and not even top 40 in the US. But hopefully it's a sign of more excellent music to come, she certainly has yet to disappoint since then!
Previous EOY history: "Adore You" (#31, 2014), "Feelin' Myself" (#59, 2014), "Malibu" (#40, 2017)

1. Sam Smith "How Do You Sleep?"

I've always been a fan, but never imagined Sam Smith giving me my favorite song of the year. I can't add much to the massive praise their recent output has had on here and elsewhere, but I fully agree that they've never sounded more confident in their artistry or looked more comfortable as a performer than they do now. "How Do You Sleep" brings an attitude we've never seen from Sam before, and that alone makes it stand way out from their usual ballads and midtempos. But as much as the song won me over, the video won me over 10 times more. I chose this GIF from the final chorus because it just captivates me every time I watch. You can sleep well, Sam, knowing that you got this 110% right. Congratulations!!
Previous EOY history: "Latch" (#11, 2014), "Money On My Mind" (#38, 2014), "I’m Not The Only One" (#39, 2014), "Too Good At Goodbyes" (#31, 2017)

Thanks to all who followed and commented! I do have plans for an end-of-decade, but am nowhere near ready for it to start. Could be a nice isolation project, we'll see! For now, here’s a recap of my EOY top 60. Stay home, healthy and safe!!

Giving Only Human a listen now, sounding pretty nice! Enjoying the glockenspiel (or whatever it is) in the chorus wink.gif

Don't Call Me Up and Higher Love are definitely two of the best mainstream songs from last year, and I quite liked How Do You Sleep as well, a bit of a change of tune from Sam.

Great countdown Jordan, I've enjoyed following along!
