How the Hell did Sato win that? I thought I had the race winner figured out at about 5 different points last night and they were all different guys but I would never have picked him out. A really smart drive and with 4 drivers capable of still taking the title the finale in Sonoma should be just as good

In other news Alonso is confirmed to be testing an Indycar on Wednesday at Barber Sports Motorpark but denies it will decide his future

Had Rossi have pulled that off and got the yellow he needed that would’ve been one of the most impressive drives I’ve seen n years. Congrats to Scott Dixon though. Thoroughly deserve and without a single dnf all season. In terms of titles it places him behind only AJ Foyt who might just be the greatest racing driver never to have seriously tackled F1 and above Mario Andretti who is clearly one of the greatest ever full stop.

One of the scariest crashes I've ever seen in any discipline. Quite remarkable there were no fatalities from that.

That angle combined with the slow motion lessens the sense of just how shocking it is. There are plenty of other angles on youtube and they're all horrific,.

Fortunately only 6 people were injured and the driver's been tweeting from her hospital bed that she's doing well

Oh indeed it's the clips uploaded at real time that demonstrate how insane the speed was.

Easy to forget just how dangerous junior disciplines are & often can be, now we've had this & the Billy Monger incidents recently...

German Sophie Florsch, 17, fractured her spine after losing control of her car, which flew through the air before smashing into a fence and photographers' bunker. Very lucky indeed.
