I know it's not commonplace anymore to have threads for compilations (and you're probably thinking *yawn* not another Clubland album) but this is without a doubt the best collection of Clubland songs I have seen.
I only really got into Clubland from 2006 but have enjoyed being able to go back through the catalogue, purchase the albums and watch countless videos on YouTube and their music channel since. Although the compilation series is practically on its arse and includes pretty much anything from the dance music spectrum these days, it's good to know that there is still an appreciation for the original side to Clubland. Any song you can pretty much think of that was/is popular in the world of Clubland is here on this album including those remixes and covers that cropped up and became somewhat just as good as the originals in their own right. I bought this earlier, it's fantastic. Clubland used to be my favourite compilation brand and this album basically sums up why but some time after 2008 the compilers completely lost it and the albums don't do that well these days.
Why bother buying them anymore when they're just the same as the other dance albums with three or four 3Beat/AATW exclusives tacked on. I miss the days when I could pick up a Clubland and not have heard a good 20-30 of the tracks before, because they were exclusive to AATW, and I'd always make some brilliant discoveries. AATW could do with going back to their roots and signing up more unknown UK producers to the label or even taking a punt on more of the European songs that could smash here with the right exposure, like they were a decade ago, but I suppose like everything else they've been hit financially and can't afford to take too many risks or sign anybody new up anymore so just get the obvious hits for these albums. Ignoring the obvious classics and top ten hits these songs all bring back some fantastic memories and are synonymous with the Clubland brand in my mind: Disc 1 6. I used to be a big fan of the clubland series before they completely sold out - I really should give this compilation a listen, hoping for some good discoveries from it

A great tracklist...focused on 00s hardstyle and trance.
There were a couple they have left out though....they should have included Love Sensation 2006 by Eddie Thoneick and Kurd Maverick and maybe Tremor by Martin Garrix and Dmitri Vegas, two great hard house tracks I can think of. Yes I would be up with a plug session too (although we should just have a general 00s dance one too) |
