Godzilla is out today.

I guess sonically it's more similar to the Hook Me Up album than anything else they've done, but definitely isn't as good as that.

My highlights are still the ancient singles In My Blood and The Only High. There are some nice little electro-pop songs on here, I also liked Kaleidoscope and High Score, and Sugar Daddy wasn't bad. But lots of it didn't stick on the first listen. Intrigued to see if Human is very sonically different to this.

I'm 4 tracks in, overproduced and just offensively loud.
Hook Me Up was overproduced but listenable. This is just absolute garbage.

Yeah I'm really not liking this at all sad.gif I love In My Blood still and Kaleidoscope is good but everything else feels cheaply produced with little melody. A shame.

Can’t say I’m desperate to hear this sadly. It’s a shame I was such a big fan from 2005-2014.

'In It to Win It' might be one of the worst songs I have heard in a while. What is that vocal production? They sound like Madonna on 'MDNA', which is never a good thing.

High Score and anything after was an improvement from the first 3 tracks, but the album as a whole is pretty terrible and I won't be adding this to my regular listening rotation.

Here's hoping the album in July is a lot better.

Wow. I can honestly say this is one of the worst albums I've ever heard, and I've been a huge fan since the beginning and love the previous three albums.

Pretty much all of it made me react like this, followed by saying "Jesus Christ" to myself at the end of each track.

The whole thing is marred by tinpot production and horrendously written lyrics, as if they'd hit writers block and couldn't move past it. 'In My Blood' is the only good song on here, although 'Silent' showed a bit of fire in their belly but still sounded really amateurish compared to their past output.

It reminds me of when I heard Gwen Stefani's last album (which was also one of the worst albums I've ever listened to), I'm dumbfounded that you can take the best part of a decade to come up with such utter shit. Let's hope Human is an improvement, it can't exactly be worse!

If Human ends up being full of bops I'll question the decision to release this before the "new" material.
Unfortunately my hopes aren't high for the Human album. With the 60 Minutes Interview and their participation on Celebrity Apprentice, this just seems like a cash grab to me, at the complete sacrifice of their fans.

Human is for me a marked improvement on Godzilla, as a whole it's still not exactly a career best and there's too much dated tropical house production, some of these songs must have been written and produced five years ago - in the case of On Your Side we know this to be true! But the melodies are stronger, and the production - while very 2016 in parts - is at least tight and not largely demo sounding like Godzilla.

Jealous is probably my favourite new song from both albums <3 Think Of Me remains great and there are sparks of the old Veronicas brilliance elsehwere - I like Biting My Tongue, Goodbye, Human and Without You too although it's an interesting choice to kick off an electro/tropical pop album with the only ballad. I wish they would do more ballads as I love Speechless, In Another Life and You Ruin Me. The collaborations are largely the weaker tracks on here for me, although I quite liked Out of Time.

Mainly I was overall reassured that they haven't completely lost it while listening to this laugh.gif

I'm listening to this now.... Without You is such a strange opener. It's not even a decent slow song from them.
I'm just at Out of Time now. It's by far the best song (apart from On Your Side) and it's still maybe a 3/10? Overproduced mess.

Wow. These girls. Eek.

I like the style of Godzilla better than Human, but they just don't compare to their first three albums. I don't even recognize the names of any of the artists featured on Human.

I might buy a physical copy of Godzilla, even though Australian albums are quite overpriced if you're an international fan. I'll just take "On Your Side" and "Think of Me" from Human.

Human debuted at No.5 in Australia, two places higher than Godzilla peaked which is a surprise as I thought some of the pent up demand for new material from them would have been satisfied and this would end up in the lower top ten. I’m glad though as I maintain that it’s a much more pleasant and enjoyable listen.

Listening to Human a bit more, it is the superior album and should have been released first. Godzilla should have been nothing more than a silent drop for the superfans that wanted a B-Side Album.

I forget what was released previously and what wasn't, but Lies, Jealous, Biting My Tongue and Goodbye are stands outs with On Your Side and Think of Me which I know we're previously released. But still. A very underwhelming album. Even the tracks that are good are maybe a 7/10 at best.
