Think this is big enough for its own thread?

This iconic song is moving up UK iTunes and Spotify quickly heart.gif

Some other non-album track of hers is impacting the US as well... i've never known anything like it before. The gays and locals are really jumping on her.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 2nd July 2019, 09:46 AM

I really think just about the whole album is better than this song, but I am pleased she's starting to blow up with it regardless.

Posted by: Bjork 2nd July 2019, 09:53 AM

frustrating it's at #11
but at least not as frustrating as all those weeks it spent in limbo out of the top 50

That was like 1 or 2 weeks max after it started blowing up wasn't it tongue.gif

thought it was a couple months

It's been in the US Spotify top 200 for 73 days (so about 10 weeks) and on the Hot 100 for 8 weeks so it was definitely only 2 weeks at most that it missed out on (probably only 1).

Wish she would get a top 40 in the UK

Posted by: lewistgreen 5th July 2019, 06:15 AM

Playlisted by Radio 1 from today!

Posted by: Cqmerqn 8th July 2019, 08:59 PM

OMG

Posted by: Bjork 8th July 2019, 09:00 PM

finally

Posted by: Cqmerqn 8th July 2019, 09:08 PM

That was actually a quick climb compared to some songs kink.gif

Posted by: Bjork 8th July 2019, 09:15 PM

but it was not allowed to chart for weeks and weeks before it reached the top 50

Posted by: Cqmerqn 8th July 2019, 09:18 PM

But as Bre said above, it was only 1-2 weeks, nothing significant

Posted by: Jack 8th July 2019, 10:35 PM

Wow, good for her!! ohmy.gif Shocked at this being such a hit. It's not my fave from her but I hope she does push something else on the back of this from the current album - 'Soulmate' is my personal fave wub.gif

She's also announced a Europe Tour for November! London & Manchester dates biggrin.gif I will be there for Manchester!

Posted by: Lukuzz 26th July 2019, 07:55 PM

YAS Queen, hope she goes top 3!

Posted by: Bjork 29th July 2019, 08:29 PM

could #1 be possible?

Posted by: Cqmerqn 29th July 2019, 08:31 PM

For sure!

iTunes: #1
Spotify: #3
YouTube: #6
Apple Music: #6
US Pop: #7

Posted by: Theonix 5th August 2019, 05:53 PM

Another day, another slay - this has a new peak of #4 on the Hot 100 *.*

Posted by: Bjork 5th August 2019, 06:33 PM

she's getting there biggrin.gif I've read she's done a Tiny Desk concert, which are always amazing

EDIT: Found it

Posted by: Envoirment 5th August 2019, 07:32 PM

Coming for that #1 in the US in the near future *_*

Posted by: Mack. 12th August 2019, 12:57 PM

If only she could replicate this success in the UK. sad.gif

Posted by: Bjork 12th August 2019, 01:06 PM

well, if her label pushed it properly in the UK... seems they're pushing Good as Hell right now

Posted by: blacksquare 12th August 2019, 01:22 PM

It's going to be one of those songs, like Juice, where so many people in the UK know it but the charts say otherwise. Just look at her set at Glastonbury — the crowd were insane.

Posted by: Medellíam 12th August 2019, 02:33 PM

^ Agreed! I watched her Glastonbury performance of 'Juice' and was really surprised at how crazy the crowd went for it. You'd be mistaken for thinking it was a massive number one.

Posted by: dannjohn 12th August 2019, 05:15 PM

Juice is on an advert atm

Posted by: Bjork 12th August 2019, 05:33 PM

the problem has been the lack of Spotify support... and now she finally has it.... but it's for Good as Hell instead

Posted by: Mack. 20th August 2019, 01:04 PM

With the support that she is getting for 'Good As Hell'. How do you see that doing for her?

Posted by: dandy* 20th August 2019, 01:12 PM

It's never likely to do anything here while it's on ACR unfortunately.

Posted by: AaronTM 21st August 2019, 04:31 PM

I just do not understand why there seems to be a UK push for "Good As Hell"?! I know it's been on an advert and so has "Juice" but where is the sense in pushing a song that was released years ago and isn't even on the current album?! Strange.

I think her label are playing the long game and are focusing on establishing Lizzo rather than aiming to make the album a hit, they are pushing the songs that are showing potential of taking off on their own and then just supporting them. I am sure they will return to the album eventually.

Posted by: Bré 22nd August 2019, 12:16 AM

Apparently there's a remix of this with DaBaby coming out soon. Coming for that Hot 100 #1?

(this is just going to start happening for pretty much any song that has a reasonable chance of being boosted to #1 by a new remix now isn't it laugh.gif I know it's not an entirely new strategy but definitely seems to be getting more common in the immediate wake of 'Old Town Road', with both 'bad guy' and 'Ransom' also getting the 'tag on another random artist' remix treatment in the last few weeks).

Posted by: RobBob 22nd August 2019, 12:35 AM

Very Katy Perry trying to beat the record of most #1s from one album laugh.gif

Posted by: Bjork 22nd August 2019, 10:18 AM

Did Katy Perry use this strategy? cannot recall it?

I remember Rihanna/Britney, was it on S&M?

Ed-Perfect was the one that raised more eyebrows biggrin.gif

E.T. and Last Friday Night had Kanye West and Missy Elliot remixes, The One That Got Away had a B.o.B feature and an alternative acoustic version, and then obviously she reissued the album itself with more singles.

They were really gunning for those consecutive number ones from one album to beat Thriller.

She added Kanye to 'E.T' and Missy to 'Last Friday Night'!

Posted by: Bjork 22nd August 2019, 10:42 AM

yes but its not the same
it's normal to add a rapper for single release like Kaney with ET, he was added as soon as the single was released

the strategy now is to release the single and after a few weeks adding a new remix with an extra person
like Bad guy with Bieber

You mean like they did with Missy Elliot and B.o.B? Two of the examples I just mentioned? Last Friday Night got to number one because of it.

Posted by: dandy* 23rd August 2019, 05:48 PM

Yeah completely pointless artistically but if it bags her a US #1 then fair enough.

Posted by: Cqmerqn 24th August 2019, 03:43 PM

1.5m combined on US Spotify (340k more than Senorita, 1.16m)!!

Posted by: Cqmerqn 28th August 2019, 03:39 PM

Predicted to go #1 in the US next week!!!!

Posted by: Mack. 2nd September 2019, 01:26 PM

And it continues its steady climb up the chart. Now reached a new peak of #31.

Posted by: Cqmerqn 3rd September 2019, 02:13 PM

#1 in the US!!!!!

Posted by: Bjork 3rd September 2019, 02:32 PM

WOOOOOOP! cheer.gif

Posted by: Bjork 3rd September 2019, 02:38 PM

can her label re-push it in the UK now please!!!!!! they just need to replace Good as Hell with Truth Hurtas on HH

Posted by: RobBob 3rd September 2019, 03:06 PM

SO happy for her, richly deserved.

Posted by: Jay ☆ 3rd September 2019, 03:13 PM

heart.gif G’won Lizzo!

Posted by: Bré 3rd September 2019, 03:37 PM

Glad to see! Wonder if she'll be able to actually hang onto it for a while unlike the last two #1s now (the biggest threat would probably have been Post Malone debuting at #1 but I don't think it looks like he's doing well enough to manage that? idk though).

Posted by: LMLou 3rd September 2019, 03:42 PM

I think Senorita will be back at #1 next week, it’ll have been close tbis week and Lizzo would’ve likely only gotten #1 cause of the boost from the Lil Baby’s remix. Senorita is getting a slightly bigger radio push too

Posted by: Theonix 3rd September 2019, 04:10 PM

Omg I'm so happy for her! She really deserves this level of success in the UK too, hopefully the wait for her second album isn't as long because I'm sure she's just one song away from mirroring the same success here

We don’t want that. Truth Hurts seems to be doing better imo

*DaBaby, Lil Baby is a different person (although with an equally awful name). x

I guess you might be right but I really hope not. Also just remembered that 'Ransom' might be challenging for #1 as well following Lil Tecca's album release although it's only #6 this week, not sure if its streaming numbers will have increased enough.

I think that's unlikely at this point, Tempo is the only hit-worthy song left and they threw the video out with zero effort

Good as Hell has belatedly debuted at #52 on the Hot 100, presumably it's been blocked out for a few weeks, the same way Truth Hurts originally was, due to the Billboard rule on old songs having to be top 50 (being allowed to chart as loads of Taylor songs have debuted above it)

Posted by: Jack 4th September 2019, 01:41 PM

I feel like 'Soulmate' or 'Like A Girl' from the album could do well with a push!

Posted by: Bré 4th September 2019, 02:33 PM

'Juice' is also back at a new peak of #82 and the album itself is up to a new peak of #5! Glad to see 'Good As Hell' has been allowed onto the Hot 100 now, hadn't occurred to me that was also being kept off by the old songs rule.

I really really wish 'Tempo' was a hit as well but I don't see it happening if the video release had no impact. Here's hoping her next album will be a little more coordinated in terms of the singles being pushed.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 4th September 2019, 02:42 PM

I'm sure they'll need to push something when 'Truth Hurts' dies down, maybe 'Tempo' could be it? I mean, if a two-year-old song can do this anything's possible.

'Like a Girl' has EASY hit potential too.

Posted by: dandy* 4th September 2019, 05:14 PM

Delighted for Lizzo! Truly deserved wub.gif

Posted by: LMLou 4th September 2019, 05:18 PM

Well it’s actually #1 In next weeks early hot 100 predictions with a fairly big lead!

Posted by: Bjork 5th September 2019, 02:52 PM

yes, read there's been a #1 effect and she's increased a lot over Senorita
so Lizzo looks like 100% sure for a 2nd week at #1 (Truth Hurts 425 points vs Senorita 388 points)

the prediction also puts Circles in at #7 and Lewis Capaldi finally top 10

Posted by: RobBob 5th September 2019, 03:11 PM

I mean, they could push anything at this point, couldn't they? The songs that are smashing it are 2/3 years old, I wouldn't even rule out Juice getting a further push.

Posted by: Theonix 10th September 2019, 07:08 AM

This has remained at #1 in the US! biggrin.gif Probably going to be its last week (for now at least) with something from Post Malone's album likely to overtake next week

Posted by: Mack. 10th September 2019, 12:34 PM

Fantastic that 'Truth Hurts' managed to go to #1 in the US.

Posted by: Mack. 16th September 2019, 01:09 PM

'Truth Hurts' continues to slowly creep up the chart now up to a new peak of #29 in its 11th week in the UK Top 40.
