i don't think one of the song's titles is 'haim' oops~~

but yes this is really good.

is it going to be a single tho if you made a thread for it?

this is the best non-single on the album wub.gif MUST get an official single release surely? It's definitely waiting to smash

Posted by: Stu1985 8th November 2014, 12:29 PM

Can't get enough of this song!

Posted by: Parallel Reality 8th November 2014, 02:38 PM

I needed more Haim in my life. smile.gif

Posted by: April 9th November 2014, 10:16 PM

This has just hit me in a massive way. Maybe even the best Calvin Harris track ever?

Posted by: James1987 9th November 2014, 10:20 PM

I am in love with this track so much wub.gif

This needs to be the next single and it deserves to go top 10, I know Calvin won't better what the singles from 18 Months achieved but I hope he can get a couple more top 10 hits at least

I think it's the best thing either Haim or Calvin have done. And I'm a big Haim fan.

Posted by: ░░░░ 10th November 2014, 09:40 AM

as good as this is it's still kind of typical edm, i think it's the idiosyncratic haim vocal that makes it work so well. look at haim's debut and the intricacies in the production on a track like 'falling' and just their general sound, a patchwork of 80s/90s influences that end up sounding quite unique.

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 10th November 2014, 06:36 PM

This is just amazing wub.gif

Calvin's dance part in the background is great and the vocals from one of the best new acts of the last few years are just superb wub.gif

Posted by: Ne Plus Ultra 8th January 2015, 12:14 AM

He's currently shooting the video for it now.

Great song. Could be the perfect song to help HAIM become even bigger before their second album arrives.

Posted by: mr_aly 8th January 2015, 12:15 AM

Perfect choice! I can see it providing another reasonable sized hit for him.

Posted by: Uptown Froot 8th January 2015, 12:16 AM

Thank goodness. I wouldn't be able to cope with Buzzjack's reaction if it wasn't a single!

Posted by: ░░░░ 8th January 2015, 12:24 AM

next single wub.gif

Posted by: Jay ジ 8th January 2015, 01:24 AM

wub.gif Ideal choice.

Posted by: Juan Carlos 8th January 2015, 04:20 AM

This is the best and obvious choice since it's already taking off in Australia. I can't wait for the slayage to be honest.

Posted by: Jamesus 8th January 2015, 09:11 AM

I don't understand why this is so popular? I think it's just mediocre.

Dollar Signs (feat. Tinashe) needs a release to kick off her career in the UK

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 8th January 2015, 09:42 AM

YAY!!

Posted by: Joe. 8th January 2015, 10:53 AM

SO glad this is the next single. I was worried he'd choose something else.

I think it'll be absolutely massive, without a doubt - and will put Haim on good ground before beginning their next album campaign.

Posted by: Robot 8th January 2015, 12:48 PM

Good song but definitely not one of my favourites, but then I find Haim to be quite crap (their voices do absolutely nothing for me) - shows a different side to Calvin though which is good.

Praying for 'Dollar Signs' next though, still in love with that breakdown wub.gif

The singles from this era have literally gone good/bad/good/bad/good for me.

Under Control - I know it's nothing groundbreaking, but it's very strong for what it is and Theo's gorgeous vocals are a delight as well.

Summer - This is extremely lame and true Calvin on autopilot, not only that it was horribly overexposed last year so I hope to never hear this again in my life.

Blame - It's an anthem, the chorus is a total scream-along-at-the-top-of-your-lungs moment, plus the distorted guitar in the breakdown is like magic to my ears (it may coincidentally in part explain why 'Feel So Close' is still by far my favourite of his).

Outside - I did like this originally, but every time I hear it I dislike it more. It feels really cold and clinical, the synths grate on me and Ellie's vocal contribution really doesn't have a lot to it.

Pray To God - This is very different for Calvin, not just because of HAIM sprinkling their magic on it but for a Calvin production in itself. I love the piano and I can picture this also being a big radio hit. If this can get HAIM their first top 10 placing (which I can't see not happening), that should definitely set them up nicely to lead into their second album era.

Yes and the trance sounds pretty... boring.

So is "I need your love". Ellie Goulding's voice is less than ... inspiring.

Posted by: SlayberryIn2015 8th January 2015, 03:52 PM

Glad to be assured this is the next single. It's been getting airplay in the US so it's a lock after "Outside" smashes in the Western Hemisphere.

Also, I want to know who's more hated in Buzzjack: Ellie Goulding or Rita Ora?

Posted by: Chez Wombat 8th January 2015, 04:18 PM

I only heard this recently but I LOVE it and think it's perfect for showing a different side to Calvin (particularly after Outside, which though I love it, wasn't really new for him). Too much to hope that this can be his 'Titanium'? (on a smaller scale probably)

Posted by: April 8th January 2015, 04:41 PM

So glad this has been made into a single - it's an absolute smash waiting to happen!

Hmm, interesting comparison! I could actually imagine it having that potential and certainly a huge amount of longevity. Although I'd be more concerned with seeing the song do for HAIM's profile what 'Titanium' did for Sia, rather than wanting Calvin to get another monster hit.

I'd say Rita Ora. Though in terms of British females Jessie J easily wins most hated laugh.gif

YESSS at this inevitably getting a proper release though! should be another BIG top 5/10 for him

I don't quite agree, while 'I Need Your Love' is a generic track it isn't as mindless lyrically and like an obligatory sequel as 'Outside' is.

I was listening to this earlier and I was thinking how this could be within his top 3 sellers.

Maybe their could be a possibility that calvin might 'perform' this track with Haim at the Brits at the end of next month, which could really kick things off for this song.

This song was meh to me until this week. I think its brilliant.

Another great single from the hit machine that is Calvin Harris!

Why aren't they dancing?

The 'If I Could Change Your Mind' video is going to make me disappointed with all of their videos from now.

why would they be dancing? them dancing in a video for an edm video would look plain cheesy, calvin doesn't really do it does he?

it worked so well in the 'if i could change your mind' video because it was a stark contrast to their sounds and image...

Posted by: Joe. 11th February 2015, 11:44 AM

Obviously they wouldn't be dancing - it would be so awful. But since I saw the amazing IFCCYM video I say that every time I see them.

This is great video though. The sets look tacky. Cute animals though.

My thoughts precisely. I heard on radio 1 yesterday and it sounded great and I've given it a few listens today and it's sounding nice. Don't know if I'll like it for long but it is sounding rather decent and should be another sizeable hit for Calvin and maybe a first top 10 for HAIM?

Posted by: Joe. 21st February 2015, 06:30 PM

I'm surprised this hasn't taken off that much. I was expecting it to soar up the charts. Maybe commercial radio need to get on board more.

v. bitter that this flopped.

Posted by: gavindeejay 29th March 2015, 01:11 PM

Same. I was hoping it would get a random boost from somewhere ('What I Did For Love' style) but it's not looking to happen.

Posted by: dandystar 29th March 2015, 02:40 PM

I think this is my favourite ever Calvin track. Kinda sad it's flopped but on a selfish level at least there's no danger of it becoming overplayed.
