I believe Katy Perry's "Birthday" can be added to 28?

Great work!! I didn't know that "Mysterious Girl" was at No.3 for 7 weeks in 1996!! It seems that Peter Andre has a personal record in his career..

Polyhex treated the 1994 re-entry separately.

What's with the tildes to end your posts? Do they mean anything?

I wonder, does anyone know songs which have 'been' at the most positions in the top 10,40,75,100 etc.? It's hard to explain, for example, Frank Sinatra's My Way has spent weeks on a lot of the 40-50 range positions...

Also, I recommend adding lists for 'most weeks at peak positions' and 'most consecutive weeks at positions'. Great list! biggrin.gif

First post updated to include "Sugar" with all those weeks at Number 9, plus "Chandelier" now makes a couple of appearances.

Also, very early work on positions 76-100, covering the last 2 and a half years or so for now but being extended as best I can, time permitting.

Walk The Moon have now broken the record for total weeks at #8.

Also David Guetta's Hey Mama can be added to the long list of 4 week #10s.

"Fairytale Of New York" now holds the sole record for No. 13 and the joint record for No. 15. "The Hills" by the Weeknd has equalled the No. 35 record and "Prayer In C" now appears on the list for No. 62. Finally, "Cheerleader"'s 3 weeks at No. 72 joins 7 other records at that mark.

Positions 76-100 now checked back to the start of 2010.

Brought up to date, and another 4 years worth of charts checked for positions 76-100.

Highest change comes at Number 6 where "Sexual" by Neiked sets a new record with 5 weeks, the previous tying 14 records now being bettered

A couple of additions to the "4 weeks at number 10" group - both "Dancing On My Own" by Calum Scott and "Too Good" by Drake featuring Rihanna are added.

Kungs vs Cookin' on 3 Burners "This Girl" is added to the Number 11 record, as is "Light It Up" by Major Lazer featuring Nyla two places lower.

This time last year, "Fairytale of New York" was in a tie with "Who's That Chick" by Guetta/Rihanna with 4 weeks at Number 15, two more weeks for The Pogues & Kirsty this time around have now claimed sole possession of tht spot. They've done the same at number 18 ousting Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles" from a tie.

No changes then until Number 35 where The Weeknd's "The Hills" now has sole possession by adding a 6th week

The logjam at 46 has been added to by "False Alarm" by Matoma & Becky Hill with their 3 weeks at that spot.

For years (decades even) "My Way" was the record holder at Number 48. Not Frank Sinatra's version which still appears numerous times in the list, but Dororthy Squires' version. Now that is wiped off the list and replaced by "Needed Me" by Rihanna with 5 weeks.

Number 58 was held solely by "Chasing Cars" the last time I compiled this list, now they're joined by a pair of male singer/songwriters - James Bay's "Let It Go" and Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud"

Finally, within the Top 75, Sia's "Chandelier" is added to the pair at Number 67

The records for positions 76 have been extended back in time to the w/e 7/1/06 with numerous additions/changes that I am not going to detail; this part of the list is still a Work In Progress.

It seems safe to say that over time, Christmas songs will end up having the most weeks at a lot of these positions.

Annual update posted, with positions 76-100 now checked back to the beginning of 2003 as well.

Lots of changes, mostly due to the contuning presence of "Mr Brightside" around the bottom end of the Top 100

Changes to (deep breath) positions 27,38,58,65,71,72,73,78,80,81,85,86,87,89,90,91,92,93,94,95,96,98,90 and 100
