BuzzJack Music Forum _ UK Charts _ The X Factor - Guest Performers 2015

Posted by: ThePensmith 27th October 2015, 10:29 PM

I'm surprised there wasn't a thread for this yet as in previous years on the forum so I thought I'd start it - discussion of all this year's guest performers on the live shows and the subsequent chart boosts they enjoy (or perhaps don't) in here!

Your first guest performers on this weekend's live shows (31st October) are...

BEN HAENOW
performing his new single 'Second Hand Heart' (Saturday)

LITTLE MIX
Performing their new single 'Love Me Like You' (Sunday)

ELLIE GOULDING
Performing her hit single 'On My Mind' (Sunday)

Ben of course was last year's winner and had the Christmas number one with his victory track 'Something I Need'. It's already peaked in the top 30 with on-air on-sale release...will he be looking at a second top 10 after this weekend? Little Mix's second single (along with several instant grat teasers) from their hotly anticipated third album and follow up to the mega huge 'Black Magic' from the summer has already been a long stayer inside the chart, we could hopefully be seeing a nice booster for that into the top 10/20. Ellie of course has already shot into the top 10 with the lead single from her new album 'Delirium', so could hopefully see a new peak following this weekend's performance...

aren't Little Mix and Ellie Goulding performing this weekend too?

I'm sure Ben will have a chart boost from this but not enough to go top 10

First I've heard of them being on this weekend, but I don't doubt Little Mix probably will be on in the coming weeks, likewise Ellie...will update once we hear more!

Yes Little Mix and Ellie Goulding are on Sunday. Ben on Saturday.

Seen a few showbiz sites tweet it.

Any predictions to who we think might be on in future weeks? Olly and One Direction are obvious look ins as always, obviously Fleur East will probably be on as well with her first single. I've heard talk of Janet Jackson potentially being on this year, The Corrs have mentioned they'd like to perform as well so maybe we'll see them on this year...

Posted by: Davidson 27th October 2015, 11:13 PM

Fleur is confirmed for the 6th November.

Adele will obviously be their #01 choice. I wonder if she'll choose them or Strictly

Others..

Demi Lovato
Ed Sheeran
Florence + The Machine
Jess Glynne
Justin Bieber
Sam Smith
Selena Gomez
Taylor Swift
Years & Years

1D are all but confirmed for a performance, I'm sure Simon's said he wants their last performance before their break to be on The X Factor. Not that it's not obvious anyway.

Jase's list looks likely. I'd imagine Sam Smith, Years & Years, Jess Glynne, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran and Demi Lovato in particular are good shouts. Michael Bublé will be shoehorned in somewhere, and I'd expect Take That to perform Hey Boy. Would be nice to see James Bay get one too but not sure if it'll happen (then again, Tom Odell had one in 2013 so you never know).

Posted by: Halloqween 28th October 2015, 01:08 AM

I'm hoping they bag Madge, finally. She's in the UK around the time of the semi's and final. It won't happen of course, but I can dream.

Posted by: Aphrodite 28th October 2015, 01:31 AM

Im hoping Kylie can get a slot promoting her Christmas album, i would love Take That as well. I really hope Ben Haenow get a good boost from his performance as i think its a really good song.

I can see the acts such as Jess Glynne, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, One Direction, Olly Murs, Demi Lovato (i would be certain of) all performing. I can see Ella Henderson possibly getting a slot if she has any plans for an album re-issue.

Janet and The Corrs would be great, whatever about Janet but i cant see the powers that be thinking the Corrs will be cool enough for a slot.

Praying that Janet gets a slot, because the 'Unbreakable' album is too good to fade so soon. I do hope Kylie will be on too.

Perhaps Ariana will be on at some point to promote Focus? I'd love for them to ask Nick Jonas on too, but I guess that won't happen.

Has Leona burned bridges to the point she won't be asked on The X Factor again? I fear so.

Agreed, and X Factor needs the biggest names possible. The fact she actually bothered with some decent promo this year gives me hope, but the likely hood is she only cares about the tour right now.

Posted by: Dannoween 28th October 2015, 12:25 PM

I'd imagine Madonna is too expensive to book though? and it wouldn't be worth it considering she doesn't fit the target audience of XF viewers anyway

I'm praying for Ariana her team doesn't really seem to care about promoting outside the US though

They've had people like Cher and Celine Dion in recent years though. I think Madonna would still have a big audience draw. I can't see it happening though.

I'd like to see Years & Years perform on either the 8th or the 15th, as an Eyes Shut performance would be huge. I highly doubt it would happen but a Leona performance would have been nice. I'd say Jess Glynne was a certain, but she was on Strictly this year, that's the only doubt I have cast.

You might be right on the first but I wouldn't be too sure on the latter. I know that's correct with her music but I think it would still be a big deal to have her perform, especially for the final and especially after cape-gate at the BRITS. They've had similar sort of artists on before in recent years who have been well received. Of course this is just all high hopes but I don't think it would be impossible.

Nope, Leona said in an interview a month or so ago that her/her team were in talks about an X-factor performance. Plus they played the instrumental to "Thunder" twice on X-factor over the weekend (Leona's 3rd single in the UK), which looks like a good sign. Simon has said nothing but good words about her too (including saying she's always welcome sign back with Sony if she ever so wishes to). I think there's a decent chance Leona could perform "Thunder" on X-factor.

That Ellie Goulding performance must rate as one of the worst I've seen on the show. Embarrassing as was her Twitter arguments with fans, with a sniff of James Arthur.
She seems to have blown a fuse.

Ellie Goulding's performance was indeed very awkward. It's a shame for her that she came after Little Mix who really were a testament to how good X Factor finalists can really be.

When did Ellie argue with her fans?

Personally, I don't think it was that bad. The song hardly shows off her vocal range as she's literally just repeating the same phrase in the chorus over and over again. I wouldn't even call that an 'arguement' when she just defended herself against some extreme comments made from some people.

Posted by: jafetsigfinns 2nd November 2015, 09:33 AM

idk if it's because kworb hasn't properly updated but it seems like neither of the performances had any impact on the chart as they pretty much stay the same with 0.765 (LM) and 0.654 (EG).

On Twitter after the show, she's now deleted them.
The comments were pretty moderate actually, like that was disappointing, and her replies were you are a horrible human being type.
I don't normally dislike her, but that performance was a shocker..like a member of the public got on stage and did a bit of an embarrassing 'turn'.

Posted by: Joe. 2nd November 2015, 09:44 AM

I don't think it was THAT bad. It was just a bit low energy and the sound was a bit odd, I don't think it is the kind of song that she'd be able to easily nail live, as it's a very overproduced pop song.

Posted by: M4NGO 2nd November 2015, 10:37 AM

Yeah the Ellie performance was pretty poor, her dancing was very awkward and the vocals really weren't great. I think part of the problem is that like Joe said, the song doesn't really work very well live.

She's not bad just surprising that song ever got permission.

I'd say its very unlikely. They have limited slots are far too many people to fill in.
I think Leona could have snuck in if her album was released now but the moment has passed her album has flopped...
and i say this being a Leona fan BTW.

You would think a Cee Lo Green comeback would at least produce one hit considering Forget You was so massive but it seems like no-one cares. Admittedly the singles released from it don't sound like hits, he's clearly become a radio 2 artist now.

So week 2 of lives are but three days away...this week's guest performers (for 8th November) are:

FLEUR EAST
performing her debut single 'Sax' (Sunday)

CEE-LO GREEN
Performing his new single 'Music To My Soul' (Sunday)

Fleur of course was your runner up to Ben Haenow in last year's final, and is now releasing her feverishly anticipated debut single this coming Friday as an 'on air on sale' release. It's already had numerous previews on recent editions of the show including Judge's Houses, and of course it's use by Asda for their Christmas adverts are sure to mean that she'll be looking at a strong top 5 debut. Cee-Lo Green is no stranger to the live results show, having performed 'Forget You' back in the 2011 series. He now returns with his first single off his new album 'Heart Blanche' which he'll also perform at the MOBOs this coming week so a top 10/20 debut could be on the cards for him. All predictions before and after their performances here of course!

Maybe because he wrote TWO of the biggest songs of the century? and is also a talented producer who will still be around in ten years time unlike Fleur East who will be in a touring version of The Bodyguard.

I'd say its very unlikely. They have limited slots are far too many people to fill in.
I think Leona could have snuck in if her album was released now but the moment has passed her album has flopped...
and i say this being a Leona fan BTW.

She recently performed for Simon at an awards event, so I think things are looking good between the two. Fingers crossed she gets an X-factor slot. I don't think there's far too many people to fill in. They can have 3-4 people perform a week (1 saturday, 2 sunday - possibly 3 sunday if they skip the group performance). So I would think there's room for her to get a slot.

I can see Leona being made to perform something from Christmas, With Love.

I think that's very unlikely. Leona has changed labels and I don't believe her new label has the rights to it. Would love if the X-factor contestants performed "One More Sleep" in a group performance nearer to christmas time. biggrin.gif

LOL stop being obtuse. Madonna and Mariah Carey are legendary acts (as is Paul McCartney; Celine Dion, etc). Cee-Lo Green is not. He ihad a few huge hits a few years ago but now is a nobody who is persona nongrata in most US media due to the fact he is a rapist. Hardly comparable.

Posted by: Jonjoltergeist👻 5th November 2015, 03:59 AM

Leona really needs to be on the finals before Christmas again and wheel out her version of 'Ave Maria'. That will get the Christmas album selling (and remind people exactly why she won the show and why she's considered one of the best vocalists)!

But yeah. I'm disappointed they've got Cee-Lo. :\ Like, I didn't even realise he had new music out? Couldn't they have got someone like Jason Derulo to perform 'Cheyenne' or something, instead? Or even help boost the career of a newer talent (like ooh I dunno. Just off the top of my head and as an example, Tinashe kink.gif ).

I guess they wanted a quiet week to help Fleur in any way possible!

Posted by: Tombo 5th November 2015, 09:09 AM

Cee-Lo is great, he has had huge success and his recent song Robin Willias was amazing! I am looking for him!

Posted by: M4NGO 5th November 2015, 11:18 AM

So Fleur and Cee Lo seem to be confirmed for the Sunday, but is no one performing on Saturday?

Posted by: ThePensmith 5th November 2015, 12:34 PM

No one on the Saturday this week I think, it was just last week. I imagine that if 1D are on next week (which they are likely to be given their new album is out) it may be a Sat/Sun split again but we'll have to wait and see!

Posted by: Qween 5th November 2015, 12:52 PM

Saturday's show will be fun then. 2 acts less and no guest performer yet only a 10 minute shorter show.

I think Cee Lo Green is partially booked to perform because of this 'lifetime achievement' award he's receiving at the MOBOs tonight. I guess because he's being perceived as a big deal at the MOBOs the X Factor have decided to give him a shot as well.

I thought Cee Lo's Lady Killer album was quite impressive but at the same time the comments he made on rape were pretty much reprehensible. Though saying that as far as I know he never did what he claimed was okay, but maybe I'm wrong on that.

It'd be silly NOT to have Justin Bieber on the show, but next week is the 1D vs. Bieber album chart battle - if Simon wants them to have a guaranteed #1 he'd do better to hold off on Bieber until the following week (though he has Little Mix and Ellie Goulding on the same week).

The likes of The Weeknd, Adele and Sam Smith would surely be good shouts for the coming weeks too (bar the remaining SyCo act - Olly Murs); though somehow I can't see Smith being pulled on to perform "Writing's on the Wall".

I've assumed it'll be Take Me Home too. She'll do it either this weekend or next weekend either way, I'm sure.

Bieber is kind of a difficult one. In one case it could easily mean he takes the #1 album from 1D but then Justin would give X factor huge amounts of buzz and a ratings boost.

Sam Smith could have been perfect for this week if the theme of "Movies" is to be believed. I don't think he will be though as I thought XF would want to create as much hype as possible for him.

Jess Glynne is a good and realistic shout. Although in all honesty, it wouldn't surprise me if they had 1D perform twice, in order to boost the album.

Madonna & Mariah are legendary acts yes but they're on exactly the same level as Cee Lo at the moment in that none of them can manage a top 40 hit. You cannot be serious with that dumbass logic of yours.

Anyway, I doubt Justin Bieber will be on this week. He'll be in the US promoting his album hardcore and if he had pre-taped his performance we'd probably have heard something by now. And I don't know about 1D either.... Surely, if they were on this week they'd had announced it already since they have a huge fanbase and it'd be a very good opportunity to cause some buzz (which the X Factor really needs). So yeah, I find it unlikely they'll be on this week, but who knows. I agree Jess Glynne is the safest and most logical bet.

Posted by: ThePensmith 12th November 2015, 07:29 PM

Already at week 3 now, and your guest performers on this weekend's live shows (14th November) are...

ONE DIRECTION
performing their new single 'Perfect' (Sunday)

JESS GLYNNE
Performing her new single 'Take Me Home' (Sunday)

So this weekend sees the return - but for possibly the last time for a while as they take a hiatus next year - of The X Factor's biggest band ever. Launching their fifth studio album 'Made in the AM' it's of course the unstoppable One Direction. 'Perfect' peaked at #2 a few weeks ago as the follow up to the chart topping 'Drag Me Down', they'll be hoping for a big climb and of course another number one album.

Jess Glynne is no stranger to the top spot either, having scored five number ones - the very same amount the show's very own Cheryl has scored as a solo artist. Jess of course was also Ms. Fernandez-Versini's guest mentor at Judges Houses this year, so she'll be hoping her third solo single - and this year's official single for BBC Children in Need appeal - can bring her total to a record 6th.

How will they both get on? All predictions here as usual please!

Jess Glynne is unsurprisingly riding high in the iTunes top 5. One Direction are #14 but their new album should be debuting in the top 3 this coming Sunday - maybe #1 depending on how their almighty tussle with Justin Bieber holds up...

Week 4 is but six days away, and with it two new guest performers next weekend (21st November)...

OLLY MURS
performing his new single 'Kiss Me' (Sunday)

ED SHEERAN & RUDIMENTAL
Performing their new single 'Lay It All On Me' (Saturday)

NATHAN SYKES
Performing his new single 'Over & Over Again' (Saturday)

For the last few months, Olly Murs has grown from the cheeky Essex chappy who busted out some slick moves to Stevie Wonder hoping to change his life on series 6, to being the shoulder to cry on - and laugh with - for this year's contestants as he became it's co-host with Caroline Flack.

He's not had an easy ride in admittedly from the '#BringBackDermot' trolling brigade, but next weekend he takes to the stage once again to prove why he deserves to be where he is as he relaunches his fourth chart topping album 'Never Been Better' with brand new single 'Kiss Me'. Already a huge top 20 and airplay hit having gone 'on air on sale' last month, he could hopefully be rocketing back into the top 10 with this and the all new special repack of the album.

Friend of the show Ed Sheeran is also back on this weekend's Saturday edition for a performance of his current single 'Lay It All On Me' with Rudimental, which features on his own repacked edition of the already huge selling 'X' album to promote the DVD release of his Wembley Stadium shows from the summer - expect a big climb for both single and album likewise.

And in possibly the strangest choice yet for a live show performer, but proof that a link to Ashley Tabor is everything, Nathan Sykes off The Wanted is singing his second solo single on Sunday's results show in the vein hope of improving upon the top 20 his first managed in the summer *cough*becauseofGlobalRadiomonopoly*cough*...all predictions as usual here please!

Doesn't Capital have some sort of deal to play Nathan Sykes, could that be the same with X Factor? laugh.gif

Global own Capital, Capital Xtra, Heart, LBC, Smooth, Radio X, Gold & Classic FM. Nathan Sykes is signed to Global talent, so the Global/X Factor relationship probably secured him that slot.

Ooh! I love the idea of that Louisa/Leona duet in the final! And I think it's the most likely to happen. Leona's career has only dived because nobody is aware she has new music out. There doesn't seem to be any ill will against her at all, so this "moment" could help her just as much as it'd be designed to help Louisa.

Posted by: mr_pmt 18th November 2015, 04:00 PM

I'd love for Rudimental/Ed to finally make the top 10 due to this after annoyingly hanging outside for ages. Pleased about this!

Nathan Sykes already looking to do pretty well based on pre-orders, looks like a certain top 10. ohmy.gif I like that song a lot to be fair.

No, but a few of her songs went top 200 (I Told You So/Blown Away/Something In The Water).

Carrie's only been getting a push in the UK recently. Blown Away (album) made it to #11 and she sold out the royal albert hall. Her latest album should be her biggest selling (peaked at #13) if her performance is percieved well.

Also, I'm not sure why it's scrapping the barrel with Carrie? Isn't the X-factor also meant to be supporting up and coming acts or acts that are just starting to get pushed in the UK? Granted she isn't a big star in the UK, but she's certainly got a niche here and an X-factor slot should be a great way for her to expand it a bit. smile.gif

Carrie is a huge name in the US but less of one here of course, so this promo slot really surprised me but I'm delighted! She's had two top 20 albums in a row now and Radio 2 support her so I think this could work WONDERS for her. It's not scraping the barrel by any means, in the US she's the biggest selling American Idol contestant I believe. Incredibly excited as she's a massive talent and I really hope this can give her a much needed hit single!

I'm sure there are those in the UK who know of Carrie, but regardless, she's got an outstanding voice and surely is deserving of a place given her success on and after American Idol. In her homeland, she has gone on to have a career that all the contestants should want.

As for Rita... EW.

I've just had a major freak out for Carrie Underwood. wub.gif

LOL @ the utter basic people saying it's "scraping the barrel" by having her. She has a career that all reality music tv contestants can only DREAM of. Why shouldn't be there to show what can happen with pure talent and dedication? She is a massive American star and one of the biggest names that has been a performer this year. She's never had a major tour or push here and she's headlining a UK Country festival in March and has sold out the Royal Albert Hall and despite the lack of push has two top 20 albums to her name. Educate yourselves before making such asinine comments. Srsly.

[/Rant]

I'm kind of glad she isn't doing Smoke Break as I just don't think the UK would get it as it is a bit more NICHE. I would have loved her to have done Dirty Laundry but Heartbeat will be lush and show off her talents. wub.gif

Taylor although one of the biggest stars at the moment hasn't really got anything to push the albums already a year old and sold very well she is on the 6th/7th single if she was to perform but likely wouldn't sell massive as I said album already 1 year and sold well

Unless Beyoncé has another suprise album then again what would be the point yes she got that naughty boy track but I'm guessing the 1d saga would put that one off

Gaga well she just not been that huge or barely releveant for 2 years plus

1D are on the verge of splitting up and going through the motions right now and on a downward spiral, Ellie's album is tanking. Little Mix have done well but it remains to be seen if they ever will get beyond niche act.

Back then 1D were a lot more popular and successful though, so I can see why Little Mix didn't get a slot and 1D did. Now there isn't as much in it and Little Mix are actually close to becoming Syco's most currently successful act, so I do hope he does use them.

I wish they'd promote some bands who just need that little push to be mainstream in the UK. Manchester band Hurts performed 4 songs on X Factor Ukraine a couple of weeks ago and all they need is a decent promotion for their new single Wings and I reckon they'd break the charts and it's such an amazing song.

It's just not her best song. She should have done a massive medley, ending with Blown Away. On the right song, her voice is stunning.

Carrie is actually a brilliant singer, shame the song didn't showcase that.

My favourite Carrie song is Two Black Cadillacs, I wish she did a medley too.

I challenge you to listen to even the last 60 seconds or so of this performance and still hold the same opinion

The song definitely didn't showcase her vocal abilities very well.

Lionel Richie was a huge success at Glastonbury this year! He was a huge talking point. So I think they're trying a similar approach for X Factor! It's quite a smart move actually. The amount of young people I know irl who said they enjoyed Lionel's set "so much" or "he was amazing" in a non-ironic way is quite something.

Carrie has a sensational voice. It just so happens that song wasn't a song to showcase massive vocals. I liked the performance a lot.
MUCH better than the MESS that followed cheer.gif

Yeah the Carrie song is very subdued for her, she has an insane voice, not bland or average in the slightest. Heartbeat is gorgeous nonetheless and I really enjoyed it. Not sure why people think she should've sung an older song to promote her current album though tongue.gif

Ha, yeah it's ridiculous. Smoke Break I think would have been a bit more niche, but a bit more fun, maybe showed a bit more of who she is... But Heartbeat is lovely, lyrically similar to Teenage Dreams imo.

On another note, how STUNNING did she look. ohmy.gif

Unless of course they have Adele lined up for the final? Justin Bieber for the semis and Adele on the final would be a great line-up. They already have Coldplay confirmed for the final too.

Oh not to mention Rihanna could be on the semi final if "Anti" is being released December 4th or the final or both! laugh.gif

Fairly certain (or used to at least) the acts would perform for free.. it's free promotion for them! Think they pay for production costs, but not the artists themselves.

I think it can, it's just never pushed here. Stations like BBC Radio 2/Magic FM support country when it's pushed here. But none of the country artists ever really do promotion in the UK (TV performances/radio tours etc), so it's no wonder the genre never does too well here.

I'd love Carrie to do a big promo schedule in the UK for a future album. "Before He Cheats" and "Blown Away" were both missed oppotunities. "Blown Away" could've been a hit with the right push, I can imagine BBC Radio 2/Magic FM/Heart spinning it if given the right promotion.

It's a shame most country singers tend to stay in the US and don't promote elsewhere, I think that's one of the biggest reasons why country doesn't usually do well worldwide, bar a few examples (Shania Twain/Lady Antebellum/Dolly Parton etc).

I really doubt Jason is going to perform 'Want To Want Me', there would be so sense in it. The new album has so many potential hit singles that just haven't got a proper push, and this would be the perfect opportunity to promote one of them and give people another reason, other than that one song, to purchase the album in the lead up to Xmas.

If he was doing WYWM it better be with a mash-up with one of his latest releases - preferably 'Get Ugly' or 'Cheyenne'.

In regards to Jason Derulo, is it wishful thinking that he could do a duet version with Leona? Leona did a duet version with him on the smule app which went viral somewhat and it says rendition of WWTM, so perhaps meaning different from the original?

Leona's got a surprise performance coming up apparantley too which could be that?

Everyone knows it and it's still played everywhere, it's far easier to sell an album if you can introduce more than one song to people.

Hoping he performs 'Cheyenne' and it can finally get a chart placing, also hope 'Alive' can get a big boost (if she's performing it).

Posted by: Dancember 1st December 2015, 06:56 PM

really hope Jason doesn't just do Want To Want Me, that would be a massive waste of performance.

Posted by: Doboggan 1st December 2015, 07:00 PM

Oh damn, I thought when it flopped in at #30 and then sank without a trace we were going to hear the last of that torture...

I would love for Derulo to perform Try Me but I doubt he'd create a solo version just for this show (unless one already exists). It makes sense to perform Want To Want Me anyway often guest acts perform their big hits of the year like when Robin Thicke did Blurred and Katy Perry Roar months after there were #1s here.

Posted by: MrIndependent 1st December 2015, 07:10 PM

Great that Sia is performing. Alive (I'm assuming that's the song she's doing?) is fantastic; it deserves to be a bigger hit than it has been so far.

Jason Derulo is talented as well, though I find him a strange choice given that Want to Want Me has been his only obvious success this year. He's probably in the least prolific stage in his career right now in the UK despite that song's popularity.

They need some huge acts for the final. So far they've barely had any.

Posted by: Christmaseve201 1st December 2015, 09:12 PM

I think Derulo is at least a different artist who hasn't been on yet and WTWM is one of the biggest hits of the yr so he's been prolific enough this yr IMO.

Posted by: Envoirment 2nd December 2015, 01:25 AM

I think Jason might perform "Get Ugly" with it being announced as the next single in the US/the video being shot.

Posted by: Bjork 2nd December 2015, 07:44 AM

Sia actually performed Alice twice yesterday on US TV, on Ellen and on The Voice

Just watched The Voice performance and she uses this wig that only shows her mouth so she can sing but hides the eyes and most of the face...

Posted by: Mangø 2nd December 2015, 02:24 PM

It's a social experiment, on fame in relation to music, seeing if an artist can sell music on the music alone, whilst staying anonymous. I understand this has now become redundant, as her faceless, cooky persona has become part of what makes her intriguing as an artist. But I don't think she's a tit.

I thought a big part of it was due to her having Grave's disease a few years ago, which had disfigured her face and shaken her confidence.

Such a shame Jason is doing the horrifically overplayed 'Want To Want Me', but I expected that.

A performance like that on a big show (like the final of X Factor) would surely propel the song into the top 40 on iTunes and give it a decent start to being a big Wintery hit? (Similar sized hit to 'Issues' by The Sats I imagine)

1D are def deserved considering it'll be their last time on X Factor for a few years as a group! Also, Little Mix are a lot bigger now than they were and their performance is one of the more talked about guest performances this year.

Oh and I can def see Fleur getting another slot too.

Posted by: Ryan. 7th December 2015, 11:21 PM

It would be amazing for Taylor to come and give some sort of exclusive performance of 'Out of the Woods', and it's theoretically possible for her to be in London on the Sunday as her tour finishes the day before and the time difference in Australia would give Taylor enough time to travel and be in London on the Sunday morning. Not that it will happen as it is too much of a rush I guess, but it would be amazing!

I think Little Mix are likely, I personally can't see Fleur getting another slot. Still surprised Demi hasn't been on this series, but I doubt she'll be saved for the final 2 years in a row. We'll probably end up with Take That and Michael Buble or something (I see the latter duetting with Ché on 'Cry Me A River' too)!

Leona is duetting with a contestant... (obviously Louisa considering how much she has spoke of how she looked up to Leona as a kid—she was just 8 when Leona won).

Rita's already confirmed she's duetting with Louisa and Leona said she was asked a couple weeks back to do this upcoming performance. She says it's something special so I don't think it'll be a contestant duet.

Great to know Leona's performing though. Maybe she'll perform the cover she's recorded and release that? Maybe for charity?

Well she did a few weeks ago with "Coming Home", and typically does with all her performances... She's no Cheryl in that regard.

Posted by: sammy01 8th December 2015, 01:21 PM

Leona, Fleur, 1D, I'm already bored just thinking of it.

Simon pimping his acts makes sense but you would think the final could be a bit special when it came to guests not artists who have been on and will be on for years to come.

Posted by: Serg Mix 8th December 2015, 01:26 PM

Rita is talented, not here for bashing her vocals. Not when Ellie Goulding performed.

Anyways.. Hoping Little Mix get that slot.

Posted by: truly talented 8th December 2015, 01:27 PM

As it isn't a solo performance I can't see Leona singing anything from I Am. More likely a new cover or something from her back catalogue that will benefit Syco.

The duets don't really count though. Last year there were 6 guest performers in addition to the duets (Granted some of them often do both, Ed did last year). Leona's confirmed she's with someone, Fleur, isn't confirmed but if she is it's probably a duet. We still only have Coldplay and 1D. So there's probably 3 or 4 people still to be announced. Buble will be a given, X Factor are obsessed with him, despite him being much more of a strictly guy.

Posted by: Mateja 8th December 2015, 01:40 PM

Apparently Grimmy talked about the duets on the radio. Looks like duets with the mentor were scrapped. Leona will likely sing with Louisa, since she is her idol.

Posted by: MrIndependent 8th December 2015, 01:41 PM

It's a good thing that Leona's duetting with one of the contestants, and in this regard her place as a guest in the final is deserved. A solo performance would be very exciting for her Buzzjack fans, but let's be truthful: the general public don't give a damn about her recent music. She'd be a total waste of a solo guest performer.

They need Adele and Justin Bieber for solo performances and then they've done right. It's possible that Adele could (have) turn(ed) down performing as she's made it clear that she doesn't like doing big promotion. They'd be really silly to not have Justin there as one of the male performers given his prominence in the world right now; they've also had contestants performing Sorry and Love Yourself so it's likely to be in talks. Taylor Swift would be a very well deserved performer too, but I somewhat can't see it happening.

If they're doing Christmas songs for the final then yes, Bubbles will probably be there as one of the duet performances with Che, I'd think. I hope to God that they're not having Cheryl duet with Reggie n' Bollie; if they must get somebody, then do the best thing and just shove Fleur in with them.

Posted by: MusiqqisuM 8th December 2015, 01:44 PM

I know Leona can sing, obviously, but I think Louisa would bury her if she was to go all out in the duet. Hopefully she holds back/shows a little restraint, for Leona's sake. ohmy.gif

It's just different styles of singing, Leona has a higher range (not that she's shown it off much in her recent material) while Louisa has more power. I wouldn't say Louisa would bury her as they could complement each other quite well.

Posted by: sammy01 8th December 2015, 01:59 PM

She doesn't need to lip sync to be fair so there's no reason e.g.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9h3EAIZTLBU

She may not be peak Mariah or peak Whitney or Beyoncé etc. etc., but she is a competent live singer for the most part, as shown above in the acoustic performance. I think because she's an X Factor judge she gets automatically grouped with Cheryl and a few judges that have gone before her and people think she can't sing. & besides, if you were gonna lip sync I don't think it would make sense to pre-record pitchy vocals as that defeats the purpose. (yes, she was pitchy in parts).

I think the overkill might be Fleur's downfall in the end. Her album doesn't look like making the Top Ten and with the amount of backing she's received not sure that will go down to well at Syco. Sax has done well but its kind of a novelty/one off sort of tune and record companies make little money from singles I would guess.

Rita's a really good singer. She's not incredible but she can sing a hell of a lot better than a lot of pop stars out there now (Katy Perry, Meghan Trainor, Taylor Swift, Cheryl to name a few). I don't think I've ever seen her mime.

Posted by: 777666jason 8th December 2015, 09:26 PM

Seems like they missed the opportunity if derulo was on final instead of semis they could a done little mix as asuprise and their duer

Posted by: MrIndependent 8th December 2015, 09:53 PM

As for Rita, she used very, VERY prominent backing tracks earlier on in her career during live performances, which I think is due to her not having the confidence in her own voice rather than her not being a skilful singer. She seems to have improved vocally a lot in her recent performances, and has proved that she can do so live. Shame to see people declaring that she can't sing.

Posted by: Joe ho ho! 8th December 2015, 11:12 PM

Twitter is going crazy saying Little Mix and 1D are performing together this weekend. I'd rather they sang their own new singles to be honest. @superTV247 the source - seems to have some kind of insider information but I have no idea how reliable. They're also setting off rumours that Kylie is also performing.

I'm wondering if Leona saying she's 'not alone' means she's actually with LM and 1D and it's an XF greatest hits medley.

Posted by: Jonjowman ⛄ 8th December 2015, 11:20 PM

I can see 1D and Little Mix doing a big group thing like 1D did with JLS. Mainly coz the fans seem to have wanted it for a while and seeing as 1D won't be together anymore. I hope they do 'Secret Love Song' but with the 1D boys instead of Jason! kink.gif

Posted by: TheGrinch 8th December 2015, 11:22 PM

I don't doubt that at some point in her life she has sang live.

Did you watch her xfactor performance? If the answer is yes, then you've seen her mime.

Also, I'm not a fan of Katy Perry tbh, I find her very smug and a bit dull as a performer, but to say she can't sing is quite ridiculous. Taylor, always sings live and I've seen her in concert twice and I think she is a brilliant performer and singer.

Cheryl focuses more on delivering a polished performance, when she actually does sing live, like on tour, she's actually a strong singer.

Meghan, I've not heard enough live performances to comment.

Don't see why Ben Haenow/Leona would perform "Second Hand Heart" if they are indeed performing together, considering he's already performed the song once? Wouldn't mind if they release a Leona version on iTunes and it does pretty well though.

Are there any album tracks which would make a good duet on his latest album?

There are few more ballady/acoustic type songs, Make it Back to Me being one that could work. Not two people I would have put together initially but I'm interested to see what they do if true.

Yeah I think a lot of the songs are aimed at her old label/management who she lost her way with, not "The X Factor" itself. She's still proud to come from the show and represent it, after-all she was the first to take it to a worldwide scale.

Posted by: Jonjowman ⛄ 10th December 2015, 10:56 AM

Yep and her and Simon are still on really good terms. None of her "ill will" was directed at anything to do with Simon specifically. People still think fondly of her as an X Factor winner. She's always the one that people are comparing other acts to on the show etc...

I'm so stacked for the final now *.*

Ben is supposedly doing 'Slamming Doors' on the final, shame really as it is a bit dreary compared to some of the others songs on the album. Was hoping for All Yours with a choir that would have been fitting of a final.

I think Ben may have one advantage over Fleur in terms of his Syco future, they have probably invested much less money and effort in him so he wouldn't need to shift huge numbers to be profitable.

Posted by: Hassaan 10th December 2015, 11:41 AM

Wasn't Kelly Clarkson on voice rest, hence why Ben couldn't perform Second Hand Heart with her? If she's off voice rest now couldn't they do that?

If they're bringing back past X Factor acts, like the likes of Leona who aren't with Syco anymore, It'd have been nice to see Joe McElderry but realistically I understand that's not going to happen.

I think Ben may have one advantage over Fleur in terms of his Syco future, they have probably invested much less money and effort in him so he wouldn't need to shift huge numbers to be profitable.

I also prefer a few other tracks to Slamming Doors as well but I think it could work quite well for him as a live performance.

Just glad he's getting a slot! cheer.gif

This all sounds too good! I hope Ben sings 'Second Hand Heart' with Leona - Could give his single/album the boost it needs (There's no hope for 'I Am' benefitting kink.gif )

What's Ben's current album chart run?

Anti-climax if they sang that, much prefer something else if they are to perform together - can't see that they are, but who knows maybe with the little mix and fleur announcement just now.

I just want to see a Louisa & Leona duet of Run like this please:

We are thrilled to announce that Adele will be performing on The X Factor Results Show this Sunday (13th December)!
In a celebration of the best of British music, Adele joins Coldplay and One Direction on the bill, and is set to sing Hello from her record-breaking No.1 smash hit album 25, which was released last month.

Adele/Coldplay/1D for the Sunday results show. Probably the strongest lineup they've ever had. Three massive global acts & all British, which is cool.

I knew there was a reason for shit guests all season. Budget has been blown on Adele laugh.gif

So the line up is Adele, Coldplay, One Direction, Little Mix, Fleur, Ben and Leona, right?

Actually quite clever for Simon to flog so many of his own acts when he knows that people will be tuning in for Adele who may not normally watch and know about last years contestants etc.

I guess that's the main line up now then, I can't see anyone else being announced.

He didn't need to wedge Leona in seeing as she is no longer signed to his record label. She is the biggest XF winner ever so I assume it is only natural for her to perform on the show.

Hence why she needs a promo slot.

But in terms of the show, she's still regarded as one of the best/biggest stars from the show... she's still respected by so many people, it's just people aren't aware she has new material! If you were to go to the average Joe and ask them when Leona's last single was, I'd guess they'd say 'Run'! And that's even with 'Echo' being a success!

If they wanted Carly or Y&Y on the show, they could get them. Carly's album flopped harder than Leona's in the UK even though the former had the exposure of a top 5 single.

At the end of the day, the X Factor is a franchise so of course they are going to use the platform to promote their artists.

Speaking of Years & Years, I am hugely surprised that at some point they didn't get a slot with 'Eyes Shut' considering how huge they've been this year and the single sounds like it was tailor made for something like this.

Much as I'm dying for 'Stand By You' to get some exposure, all Rachel's had is a fluke/fleeting #1 single.

(Mind you, you could have said the same thing about The Wanted in 2010 when they got to perform).

Meghan Trainor performed 'All About That Bass' on the X Factor last year and she wasn't exactly a huge star, 'Stand By You' is dramatically picking up in America after just one performance, I'm disappointed she's releasing her album on the 1st January but I don't think she will be the one hit wonder I thought! ohmy.gif

Ben and Leona duetting... For Christ's sake, Simon.

I'm not happy that Simon is more interested in flaunting his own acts than getting stars who are truly in demand, and even though I'm excited for their performances I don't like that Ben, Fleur, Little Mix and One Direction, who have all performed already, are getting a slot; I was hoping that Simon would throw the guests-performing-for-a-second-time-this-series thing out the window this time around.

The obvious omission is the Biebs, who really should be there over Ben and Leona. As said by others, Years & Years and Taylor Swift could've been given a slot, although I'd say that Y&Y would've been more suited to one of the ordinary results show rather than the final.

Anyway, I'm glad that Adele is there.

Posted by: Viper* 10th December 2015, 07:45 PM

People complaining about Leona. Srsly guys, how can you not establish why she is there. I really don't care for the girl at all, but she's the most successful winner ever. Why SHOULDN'T she be there? mellow.gif

Also, I'm immensely pleased we don't have random American artists like Rachel Platten and Charlie Puth. Why should we? What a brilliant showcase of UK music at the minute (and Ben Haenow) and some of the talent that X Factor actually has provided. I'm not a massive 1D or Coldplay fan but their talent and power and current relevance cannot be denied!

Posted by: Frootincense 10th December 2015, 08:04 PM

By having so many X Factor acts on in the Final this time, I guess that they're trying to push the idea that the show can and does make you into a big star and Leona/1D/Little Mix are all major examples of that. Then they're going to try and push last year's finalists more to show it can still happen. tongue.gif

While it would be nice to have more variety, the other two acts are the two of the biggest in the world right now. It's not as though Years & Years haven't performed elsewhere and, while Rachel has had a hit this year, she hasn't really attracted the same attention as Meghan, plus Carly hasn't exactly had an amazing year.

Posted by: MrIndependent 10th December 2015, 08:52 PM

If Ben & Leona and Little Mix & Fleur are performing together on Saturday, I think there should be one more performer that day (there were six last year). I'm assuming they're still working through the duet performances as they've not announced those yet?

I've written and erased three replies now in regards to Leona, so I will just state the obvious instead: she's not a 'big star'; she had one big era in 2007-2008 on which her legacy as an artist rests, a mediocre one in the follow couple of years; but all in all she's done nothing of note in the past 7 years and the fact that she is still the most successful winner of the show states one thing: winning The X Factor doesn't mean a thing. They have Little Mix as an example of winners who have went on to have a much more fruitful career -- why do they need Leona? The contestants will look up to her as somebody with outstanding vocals who did win the show, and this is why her doing one of the duet performances would be warranted. In the end, Simon has shoved her on Ben Haenow's performance as a last resort, and I wonder if he's doing it to try and benefit Ben (after all, they got Kelly on the single; perhaps this is a continued trend of trying to market Ben alongside an acclaimed female singer). I think this is cheap and poor of Simon, and my issue therefore lies with him and not Leona.

However, Leona's lack of success in recent years alongside her inability to sell anything only shows that she's got no reason to be at the final in 2015, winner or not.

This post will annoy Leona's fans here (I assure you that is not my intention), but I'm sure you can all see merit in what I'm saying.

Not really.

I'm in no way a Leona stan, so I will leave it to those that are more passionate about her to give you stats, figures and whatever.

But for however long the show runs there will ALWAYS be a place for her on the show. She will never NOT be relevant to the show no matter how little she is selling or how away from the public eye she is, if the show ran another 20 years (lol it won't) she will always be relevant to the show. How can you not see the merit in that? mellow.gif

In all fairness though, only the winner is guaranteed a record contract. Whoever comes second could end up with no contract at all (it just so happens that every 2nd place act has been signed though lol).

Leona did well with OMS a few years ago so she has had hits outside of 2007-09 era you talk about. Thing with Leona is her lack of charisma I'm afraid, it lets her down a bit (although I think her personality is lovely from what I've seen of her as I like that type of girl).

I'm not a massive Leona fan as some are around here (I did buy a couple of her albums however and think she has a great voice) but I think she deserves to come back if a) she wants to and b) the show are happy to have her. Pop stars careers fizzle out some sooner than others but that doesn't erase what they achieved. And she is along with 1D the biggest thing to have come out of the show. Would you begrudge them a return to the show in five years for a nostalgic performance? I certainly wouldn't. As for the duets (and especially Ben and Leona) I just think you might be over thinking it a little. They have obviously decided the show needs a boost and are pairing current winners/contestants (Ben/Fleur with previous winners (Little Mix/Leona) as a fun thing for the final and to show the "talent" (matter of opinion smile.gif) that comes from it. And of course Ben and Fleur will get another chance to promote their albums along the way. Maybe he wants to give Ben a second shot at performing as they messed up his first single campaign.

Posted by: ___∆___ 11th December 2015, 01:03 AM

Do we know for sure that they are duetting? If so, then the only duet I can think of with Leona is "Trouble" (a single she released in 2012). I think she duetted with male singers with that.

Excited to see Leona back on the X Factor stage but I think its safe to say she will not be performing with Che as s=Grimmy has said 'even Adele will be starstruck by Che's duet Partener' & I highly doubt she will be starstruck over Leona as they have met before etc. Really looking forward to this years final, feeling confident about Louisa winning, imo best winner since Leona if she does win. happy.gif

Well Adele did say she voted for Leona loads of times to win on X-factor. kink.gif

Really interested in what Ben & Leona are going to perform. Maybe it's going to be "Run" (shouldn't be too far off 1 million sales now)?

I hope they have a group Christmas performance of all the finalists and all perform "One More Sleep" though. kink.gif

I'm not particularly a Leona fan, but I disagree hugely with this post.

It's clear to me with the line-up revealed that they are going for a "Best Of X Factor" vibe, with all the big stars from the past performing. If this is the case, Leona HAS to be there - she is the second biggest act the X Factor has ever had!!!! Yes, so she hasn't been commercially relevant in a while, yet that does NOT detract from what she did achieve since winning the show. The way I see it, it was Leona who put the X Factor on the map (not One Direction), as she was the first international success story from the show, and she broke the American market at a time when it wasn't an easy thing to do (I'm not saying it's easy now, but it's definitely gotten easier since 2008). She still has, by far, the biggest opening week sales for an X Factor debut album in the UK (and that's including One Direction), and Bleeding Love and her version of Run are still very known amongst the general public. Honestly, how can she not be at an event celebrating X Factor's biggest successes? The fact that she is no longer successful doesn't change that she once was very successful. She is still the biggest winner to come from the show (at her peak, she was far bigger than Little Mix) and the show simply cannot ignore that.

And whilst her star has undoubtedly waned, I still read articles and comments on forums referring to her (amongst others) as being one of the big success stories of X Factor, so most people would still be aware of who she is. So whilst I see the merit in what you're saying in regards to her no longer being a big star, I don't see any merit whatsoever in suggesting that she shouldn't be performing at the final.

Reading some of the above people seem to think Ben is performing twice? Its been confirmed he's singing Slamming Doors and I just thought Leona would sing with him? So one performance for both? I'd love Ben to do two performances but not how I'm reading it anyway.

Yeah I think the only performances Ben, Leona, Fleur & Little mix are doing are the ones together - which is a shame because would of liked to see Leona do something from I Am and even more so see her perform with Louisa but one performance is better than no performance for me. smile.gif

Thanks smile.gif I hadn't seen that but I'm still not sure it means it will be twice as the surprise could be within the first performance. But hey I hope you're right smile.gif
