Looks to be a return to form for Melissa McCarthy following the disappointing 'Tammy' last year. Also starring Rose Byrne, Miranda and Jude Law.

Should be up Buzzjack's street. Out Friday and the critics appear to be liking it, 95% on Rotten Tomatoes after 39 reviews.

I will probably be seeing this just because Miranda is in it, but the fact it has such a high critics score bodes well!

It wasn't quite as good as The Heat for me, but it was still a very superior comedy form Fieg/McCarthy.

I saw this last night, not only my favourite comedy of the year, but my favourite film of the year so far by a MILE. I'd say this is maybe my favourite comedy since Bridesmades, and that's not a mean feat when there's been films like the 2 Pitch Perfect's out. ohmy.gif

Since writing this there have been over 100 more reviews and it's still holding onto 95%!

You absolutely must go and see this, you will FREAK! (unless you already know about something..)

VERKA!!! Scene of the movie

This was such a return to form for Melissa, not quite as good as Bridesmaids (that's a tough ask) but better than The Heat imo. Jason Statham, Rose Byrne and Miranda were all excellent.

Felt maybe a tad over-long but so many laugh out loud moments.

Absolutley loved this and it was so so funny and entertaining. Mellisa McCarthy was on top form as ever- I love her so much. Rose Byrne was amazing as usual and Jason/Jude were great, I also loved Miranda despite hating her comedy series (though I love her in call the midwife) and just everything about this was amazing wub.gif

For Melissa movies:
Bridesmaids(11/10)>>Spy(10/10)>>>The Heat(10/10)>>>Tammy(8.5/10)>>>>>>>Identity Theft(4/10)
I love them all bar IT which was amazing at the start and end but the middle of it was awful sad.gif

Just went on an unplanned trip to see this and loved it. The cast were all spectacular. Miranda was amazing. She was playing her character from the tv show basically but would you really want to see her do anything else? Jason Statham was another stand out.

went with low expectations after some of Melissa's previous movies following Bridesmaids, but it was pretty good, the cast were good, the laughs seemed genuine, the script playful, and McCarthy was nowhere as annoying as she can be when going over the top, much more restrained. Miranda was fab of course, she deserves to get more film comedies. Rose Byrne also gave a stand-out super-bitch performance. 6/10 (at least - I suspect it may be one those films that improves on repeat views)

I've just had the opportunity to watch this tonight, what a fantastic film and I didn't think it would totally be my sort of thing! I was laughing all the way through, and when Miranda turned up in Budapest (I think that's where they were at that point) it was absolutely hilarious, I'm glad Miranda's character in this was very similar to her sitcom. Melissa and Miranda made such a good duo, the whole cast was great! I'm glad Rayna turned out not to be a baddie as such as she was also hilarious and very likeable!

"Spy" is an action comedy film that has nothing to envy from other films of its kind. It was released in my country’s cinemas over four months ago and there were many who believed that this was the comedy of summer! I watched it in a nice open air cinema and I had seen the official trailer several times in recent months in the multiplex! Despite this, every time I saw it, it made me laugh when I would watch it on the big screen.
The main heroine of the film is the low-profile Susan Cooper, who performs various tasks in the offices of the CIA, as well she instructs through her computer the Agent Bradley Fine on his various secret missions. However, when he is murdered by the ruthless Bulgarian arms dealer, Rayna Boyanov, Susan Cooper will be the one who will continue the mission so to deter an upcoming global disaster. Although "Spy" has similar scenario with the films of legendary agent James Bond, it is obvious that they differ in content. "Spy" had ample doses of humor and hilarious gags that created a very pleasant atmosphere in the movie theater. The protagonist of the film, Melissa McCarthy, was the perfect choice for the role and I think that this particular character was tailor-made for her. It is undoubtedly one of the best comedians of her generation. The directing of the film was quite good and Paul Feig was not limited to the visual part, since he wrote the script and participated in the production too. Although I have not seen his previous successful movies such as The Heat and The Bridesmaids, I can understand that this is a man with an increased sense of humor. "Spy" had clever dialogues, unique quotes and imaginative characters! Apart from the excellent Melissa McCarthy and the other interpretations made us laugh with the help of Miranda Hart, Rose Byrne and Jason Statham. The latter essentially reiterates once again the role that made him widely known, but in this film he is incredibly tied to the opposite character of Melissa McCarthy. "Spy" also had several action scenes, rapid progression and beautiful exterior shots.
"Spy" is arguably one of the funniest stories I have seen in the cinema this year! It combined comedy and adventure in a very successful way and there is no way that viewers won’t like it. Besides, you can understand it based on its funny official trailer. It had a successful performance at the box office and its total worldwide revenues are more than $236,000,000! In addition, it received positive reviews from critics worldwide and has been loved by the audience after having gathered a good average score in IMDb (7,2). So, a sequel is expected of this film. I hope, however, the producers will maintain the same good effect as they did in the first film. In my opinion it was the best film to get away from the tension of those days since we had capital controls and elections.
