ITV's new daytime gameshow is Babushka, filling in the annual break that the The Chase has, and it is presented by rylan. Contestants face True or False questions that allow them access to money inside 10 Russian dolls. Each doll has a different amount of money which contestants may gamble to increase the money they get from each doll.
Just watched a bit of it now, its basically just The Colour of Money as presented by Chris Tarent a few years ago! That didn't do well and, with the amount of controversy ridiculously stirred up by the trashy press, this won't either. It is just basically another show based from luck which isn't really what this gameshow renaissance is about. People want lots of questions and strategy rather than luck.
I watched The Chase on Challenge
Yeah I hate games based on luck, I mgiht watch an ep of this at some point (The Chase is my fave thing on TV but they are allowed a break ) but I find this sort of thing really boring. Same with Tipping Point, I suppose not that's not quite so much luck but I just like the simplicity of The Chase and being able to play along as they answer the questions more than anything.
If you want luck you are better of watching Lucky Man on Sky 1, mind you the series has ended last Friday.
How was it?
bin it
This looks like proper crap. Glad it is only temporary and we get The Chase back.
I think I'll stick with Pointless and its contestants who think Zaphod Beeblebrox was a character in Pride and Prejudice
Watching this now just to see how bad Rylan's presenting is
I love babushka.
since it started on monday, i've seen them all
today's was extremely close, too!. I bet daughter sidney shouted at jennifer all the way home. lol
as for it replacing the chase, I disagree with everyone that misses the show
yeah, it's good (the chase), but it's been going so long, it's sort of become predictable.
with this babushka, you never know how the game will turn out!
(and thumbs up to ITV for not doing another series of cash trapped or alphabetical)
Stick with Pointless thank you.
I like it but it does seem just a game of luck. No skill involved!
I finally got round to watching this and didn't really like it. I hate the luck based games, there should only be skill involved in winning! Also, I didn't think Rylan had the gravitas to front a game show. He's much better at those fun, light entertainment type shows.
I think Rylan presents it well. It's just a shame that the show isn't very good. I still watch it on demand when I can though.
