I was tad unsure about 'Breathing Underwater' at first. I think the gospel choir was the main thing because, by the second listen, I ended up really enjoying the rest of the song. I was close to charting it actually, but the choir is just too off-putting at the moment. The main body of the song is a nice throwback to the sound of her last album though. I remember returning to 'Sexual' every so often when it was in the lower regions of the chart but I couldn't get into it, yet it just clicked with me now it's taking off. It's nice to hear something adopting the sound that's popular at the moment but with someone who has a genuinely lovely vocal instead of being quite generic or bland. On first listen of Joanne, I found the first half quite challenging to stick with. I allowed myself to have no expectations for the album given the general response from people, not thinking about comparing it to anything she's done before etc., but the songs just weren't doing anything for me. The latter half was definitely an improvement and saved the album - songs like 'Come to Mama' and 'Hey Girl' being strong standouts and remaining as such today. By the second listen, I could appreciate all songs and now I can quite comfortably say I prefer the album to ARTPOP. I mean, they're both very different - even the highs from both are really quite hard to compare - but Joanne doesn't have any particular duds and just runs much smoother and sounds more authentic. ARTPOP had some great moments but it was largely too in-your-face and too much of a clash of sounds. Hurts has grown on me a lot but not enough to chart it. It's just such a departure to her usual sound imo and I'm not really a fan of the new sound. It's the end of an Era in mucus I feel. Britney just doesn't have the pull anymore and she can't seem to sustain any really commercial success now. Gaga as well. She hasn't come close to anything like the fame and this Era is no different! I had high hopes because Red One but they were let down definitely. Great chart though

What's it going to take to shift Emeli Sande off the top then?  If only she was having the same success in the official charts.  New peaks for Bruno Mars, James Arthur and The Weeknd, but what I'm most pleased with is seeing NEIKED enter the Top 10.
