I admire the dedication but I'm not really here for lengthy artist selections.
Gohar slaying those green screen poses!
This kicks off tonight at 8.05pm BST (11.05pm local time) and will continue every Saturday for approximately three months!
How was it?
Not even I am sitting through 3 months of selection shows! Apparently the standard was surprisingly high considering it was basically the auditions stage of X Factor type thing.
Not sure if Egine here is awful or spectacular, I think she's the latter!
Jessie J snatched
We've reached the final 4 now, and all 4 are female guaranteeing a female representative for Armenia in 2017! The clear winner in semi-final one was Marta, and this is her in action from an earlier round (as her semi-final performance isn't on YouTube yet):
(Egine from above is in the final 4 too along with Artsvik and Syuzanna)
It's Artsvik for Armenia!

Apparently this is called 'Road' () and composed by one of the people behind LoveWave last year.
Entry is called 'Fly With Me' and is behind the same team responsible for 'Not Alone' and 'LoveWave'! Gonna be revealed on 18th March (i.e. after the HoD meeting next week)
read: it's not been written yet, flying to stockholm for some writers first thing tomorrow morning
Sounds like its about to go upbeat at the end of that teaser!
Ooooh that has the potential to BANG
I'm sure Gohar has orchestrated this late reveal so she could see what her competition was so I would guess it won't be a run-of-the-mill ballad, although the ballad/uptempo imbalance has pretty much evened up now anyway.
I'm waiting for this to be my Bulgaria last year (i.e. the 11/10 moment I was so dearly clinging on for and then finally got in the dying seconds).
I doubt it will happen but I'd love to be pleasantly surprised by Armenia.
Armenia such teases! (Now watch it be another jazz ballad ffs)
Looks like they put in a teaser only single calm piece from the song after go drums and dances.
Well I am underwhelmed! It starts off promising and you expect it to explode into a banger and it just, never does. A shame because I like the ethnic sounds they were going for.
That's so annoying. If it had a LoveWave type explosion in the last thirty seconds then it would have been really good but as is it just falls a bit flat.
It has hints of getting better but yeah that's underwhelming. They've done that sound way better before.
Nice but yeah underwhelming, I was so hyped for an absolute banger from them as well </3
Yeah the final thirty seconds are still the best, but I was wanting something a little more, not worth the wait.
Oh...that's not amazing like I hoped.
Damn...unless anything substantially grows on me this is my first year since 2005 without an 11/10 song in the lineup lots of 9/10s and some nice consistent quality but I can't see any of this year's entries ending up in my end of year top ten as yet...
I'm surprised everyone is so negative about this, because I think it climaxes greatly while executing the early subtlety perfectly. It also brings much needed musical diversity to this year so all in all I'm very happy with it. Armenia continue to be essential.
I'm with Umi here, very pleasantly surprised by the variety offered here. Artsvik sung run-of-the-mill ballads week in week out on the 3 month artist selection show so I wasn't expecting any different here, but they've brought a nice slice of ethno-pop that doesn't rely on being in your face. I read elsewhere that it is a "compelling" watch/listen and that's totally the correct description. Solid qualifier, mid-table in the final I imagine with potential to be higher on the assumption they have a stageshow already carefully planned out like with LoveWave.
I actually have this down as a borderline qualifier. I can't see televoters flocking to it at all (unless of course the staging is spectacular, not impossible with Armenia) so if it's going through I'd imagine it to be a jury save.
I don't think it'll struggle to qualify that much. It's not the most diaspora-heavy semi for Armenia ever but it's got Georgia, Greece and Spain and probably more semi-relevant countries aside from those. Second half of the semi, they're obviously going to do a standout performance because it's an obviously trying Armenia, and it has a niche all to itself so... I don't see how this misses out to be honest.
Aye, I think this is a comfortable enough qualifier but it's not going to set the scoreboard on fire come the final and will probably end up getting about the same placing as 'Face The Shadow'
Who wants to take responsibility for the predictions thread? *.*
This have grown alot on me this week, and is my favorite song at the moment. I have big expectations to this on stage, hopefully it will be big eurovision moment
So in the arena this was absolutely immense, the main bassline loudly rumbling, the flame jets blasting us with warmth and Artsvik's voice soaring throughout. Technically this was mixed perfectly, better than Italy and Belgium's entries which didn't quite have as much of a kick live. I had this in my top 5 with Portugal, Belgium, Italy and Sweden.
It does lose a little something when watching at home, but this is still the most unfair lowest place of the competition for me, if not quite as shocking as Barei last year. Armenia seriously deserve a win at some point and if their quality remains this good we'll hopefully see a Yerevan Eurovision one day!
