I've done a total 180 on her! I used to think her music was basic and not to my taste but 'you should see me in a crown', 'when the party's over' and 'WHEN I WAS OLDER' are all brilliant so consider me quite excited for this *.*

One of my most anticipated albums of the year! I wish 'come out and play' and 'WHEN I WAS OLDER' were on the tracklist, but I understand why they're not and that means we get more new music from Billie.

Can't say I ever expected to be interested in an album by Billie Eilish but I've really liked 3 of her last 4 singles ('come out and play' was a little weak so not too sad to see that being left off the tracklist x), so I think I shall give this a try when it comes out!

I've also listened to Bad Guy (as I hear so many people saying good things about this one) and it's amazing as well 💗 I can see this potentially being a hit for her! I expect it to do very well tomorrow anyway, it's the 2nd track on the album (track one is a 13 second intro and it's the first song on NMF Australia/NZ

The 7's should either grow on me within the next few days or just get skipped permanently.

What an album though! Not the most cohesive one but she has so much potential, I'm floored how good this is considering she's only a teenager.

Although her songs are a bit similar in my opinion. I remember reading every song on the album sounding different I wouldn’t say that’s true but it’s a good album and exceptional considering her age.

really feeling 'ilomilo' today! such a cute and rhythmically interesting song! it's a nice change of tempo from the rest of the record. on the other hand i've decided i'm not into 'listen before i go'; there's not enough too it and the lyrical content is a bit OTT.

This is such a strong album and I'm so happy she's getting success and recognition. Can't believe she's only 17 too... what the actual hell she is so good. Xanny and Goodbye are the only duds ruined by weird vocal effects, but everything else is great.

This is a really good album, such a striking, distinct and confident style throughout yet there are periods (particularly right at the end) where is goes very melancholy and takes a notable shift in mood, they were some of the more powerful moments for me.

Bad Guy would be a wonderful number 1 *.*

It's impressive.

I know Lorde is the most obvious comparison, but her success actually reminds of Avril Lavigne. She was a young girl with a strong visual and sonic identity that was unmistakenly her. It was different enough from what was being offered at the time by other female artists. It all resonated with teens in a big way, as well as managing to crossover to adults.

Don't know if many people here saw the 'same interview one year apart' video with Billie Eilish that dropped a year ago, but a sequel to it has been made with the same interview again another year later:



The video last year was pretty worrying to watch as she seemed so much more miserable than she did in 2017 but it's the total opposite this time, it's really heartwarming to see how genuinely happy she seems to be at the moment.

(cue a 2020 version where she's back in a darker place if the pattern continues oop)

Ive listened to this album again today in full.

Love her voice on certain tracks like i love you, listen before i go, when the party’s over and 8.

It’s a strong album and it’s cohesive but sometimes I can’t tell songs apart. There’s a few tracks on there what are a bit samey but she is a strong talent and you’d never think she was like 18 (even younger than that when she recorded this)

I think she’s gonna be someone who’s gonna really grow as well with each release. Like I found everything i wanted better than anything on this album so she’s heading in the perfect direction going forward.

I’m gutted for Ari missing out what I think was her best shot. But can’t argue with Billie getting the award. I’ve really gotten into her lately and I can now see what the fuss was all about (like a year too late ).

Bad Guy got SOTY!!

Edit: She swept the big 4!! Didn't expect her to tbh but I'm so happy for her, so deserved as I feel like she works so hard and she's absolutely nailing it, doing her own thing in her own way and absolutely thriving in the moment. She seems like the biggest sweetheart too and genuinely appreciative of everything she achieves and receives.

I'm moderately amused that she's being heralded as the youngest artist to sweep the big 4 categories, as if it's happened more than once ever before. I guess putting her in the esteemed company of Christopher Cross isn't a strong sell

(and to be honest, since one of the big 4 is Best New Artist, it could be argued that an older artist doing so is more impressive given how the industry works).

Apparently aside from Christopher Cross (who x) the only other artist who's won all 4 awards is the much more esteemed company of Adele, though she didn't win them in the same year.

Hopefully when she does the BRITs she doesn’t do bad guy. I think it’s the one song of hers what just doesn’t showcase her voice at all so that being her biggest hit is a bit meh for me.

Agreed, I don't think it would work well at the BRITs. It's a song that relies on audience participation and anyone who would be interested in joining in will be too far back for the sound to pick up and all the camera will capture is a sea of deadpan faces of the singers and record labels impatiently waiting for the after party.

I gave this album a full listen earlier in the week and it’s pretty much now a completely solid album.

At the time of its release I perhaps didn’t quite 100% get it but Billies such a talent and even though some of her work she’s done after this album has been more of a step up for me in terms of songwriting improvement I can definitely see why this sweeped the Grammys and did so well.

I’ve always low-key preferred her vocal on ballads as opposed to tracks like bad guy though
