They have had 3 low top 100 singles ('Don't Delete The Kisses' scraped a week at #100, then 'Smile' and 'How Can I Make It OK?' got #88 and #93 on the week of their last album's release). We can only hope they'll eventually get a top 40 hit. Ah I guess Polyhex only records Top 75 then? Was using that as my source. Hopefully they go from strength to strength with album #4 🤞 |

Yeah Polyhex is only top 75, the OCC website tries to log all top 100 hits but their artist pages are pretty glitchy and often omit songs. Wish there was a better Polyhex esque source that expands to 76-100.

I'm tempted to do this but looking at the previous list it's clear that if I did it honestly, almost none of the bands I vote for will make the top list anyway.

I think the retro voice is a bit stronger than 4 years ago but even if you’re the only voter for some it’s worth getting them featured in the countdown. |

I think it's worth doing as tastes/voters may have changed since a few years ago. My list from last time is very different from what I would've submitted last time. |

I didn't vote last time and have different tastes to many on here! Two +30s would push a band quite high up straight away!

I’m with Polyhex - I was schooled by the Guinness Book of Hit Singles - #76-#100 aren’t “hits” to me haha x

2020 Thread Here you go! Great to see that a lot of acts in my current list (or shortlisted for it) were voted for last time albeit outside the top 100. And yes - whoever said they weren’t voting because their choices wouldn’t make the list: please do! It’s all the more reason to vote. I loved looking at the lower end of the list for the last survey. |

Submitted mine. Sadly a lot of good bands didn't make the cut because they haven't had a Top 40 hit or even a Top 75 going by polyhex. A few of the ones that did make the cut have done it with just one or two hits.

Right, since everyone is saying I should do it, I am definitely going to Great. Remember the full list (not just the top 100) iscounted down so when your bands appear they will generate interest. In fact one of the best things about these threads is to reminisce about bands one had long forgotten. |

This was actually quite difficult as a lot of the bands I really enjoy like Pale Waves, The Aces, Wet Leg & Greta Van Fleet haven’t had charting T40 hits 😭

I sent my list in. It turned out to be much more retro than I expected. There's loads of modern bands I wanted in but I couldn't find one that had a hit more recently than about 20 years ago and so many that didn't have one at all!

I’m planning to lean retro as there’s always recency bias overall. |

I’m planning to lean retro as there’s always recency bias overall. That said - the number of bands charting this days is comparatively small. I think looking at the last list there is a focus on grouos from between 10 and 30 years ago. 7 of my list received 0 points last time, so it will be interesting to see if my points are the only ones that they gain this time. And 3 more gained fewer than 30 points - so might have been just 1 voter. Typically my judgment was based on whether I have owned and loved 2 or more of their albums - although a few of the artists had 1 album I loved, and then a wider singles base - with one artist who I have just got their greatest hits but will be finally seeing them live this year - and another whose singles I love, but whose album I returned to the store and replaced with Céline Dion as I just wasn’t enjoying it… |
