LOL at an album that sold 374 copies being nominated for a Mercury Prize!

The Mercury Prize has gone to Dave! Psychodrama is a perfect choice of winner imo! wub.gif

Easily my least favourite of the noms, oh well. Wolf Alice last year were much better winners

The 1975 not winning cheer.gif

A bit gutted for slowthai but he was the bookies' favourite and they seem to win pretty rarely so should have seen it coming. Dave still a good winner x

That was easily my favourite of the nominations, very rare for my fave to end up winning so I'm glad to see Dave get such a deserved win! wub.gif Those who have only heard singles like Location completely miss what an incredible artist he is, his lyrics can be brilliant and album tracks like Lesley really do surprise you.

Was rooting for Little Simz out of what I'd heard but good for Dave! It's really refreshing to see a music award that treats hip hop as the most culturally relevant, creatively vibrant genre out there, rather than a scary boogieman to be avoided so it hopefully goes away.

Taken a listen to the winning album, very powerful stuff, I hadn't really heard much at all out of Dave (nor any of the other Mercury nominees, something I'm planning to fix), but well worthy winner, excellent lyrics throughout, 'Lesley' in particular is a beautiful track.

Yeh Daves album is excellent. I've actually got quite a few of the final list including Little Simz/Slowthai/Foals. Also meant to listen to the NAO album, she is 😍

I think it was a fully deserving winner. Tracks like Psycho, Black and Lesley are incredible. Fontaines D.C. and Little Simz were comfortably my two favourites from the list but Dave is great too.

The 1975 not winning cheer.gif

I don't know whether them not being there or being read out first played a part, but it did strike me that there was zero cheering from the crowd when they were read out and various levels of whooping for the other eleven acts.
