Number 18 - This is the way - 565 Points

Points Breakdown

Cover - 204 out of a possible 500
Song - 204 out of a possible 500
Video - 157 out of a possible 500

Personal Opinion

The video always makes me laugh because it looks more like a work out video but she looks great in it and I do like it the song too. The single cover makes up a lot of its points as it was there right up until the final round.

What are your opinions ? too high ? too low ? lets discuss

QUOTE(Dannyboy @ May 12 2019, 08:28 PM) *
Such a bad start but I do think it got better with the later releases, I really like "This Is It", "This Is the Way" and "Get into You" and these should have been the first 3 releases. The problem is that while This is it is the better song, releasing a cover as your first track wouldn't have worked and I don't think any of the other songs would have been good first single material.

'Show You The Way To Go' was also a cover, originally sung by The Jacksons, and yeah do agree releasing a cover as the lead didn't work, hence its poor #30 chart placing. Not really a fan of Dannii's early material (bar 'This Is It' & maybe 'Jump To The Beat' for the cheesy nostalgia factor), but as for the rest either average or below, and haven't listened to her first 2 albums (only know the singles), and considering the not so impressive run of 'Get Into You' singles, I'm not really interested. So I don't know if anything else on that album would have worked better as the lead single.

Considering they'd already released a cover for the first single, they'd may as well released 'TII' as the first single, considering that was the only real success from this sub-par era. 'Love's On Every Corner' was also terrible, aged horribly and should have been scrapped along with 'SYTWTG' from the album entirely. 'This Is The Way' and the title track are harmless enough, but very MEH.

Shame to see 'Disremembrance' so affected by the video and cover as the song itself is great. Who doesn't love strings in a dance song?

Not fussed about the rest but I'd have liked to have seen 'Galaxy' a little higher. It's pretty dated and cheap but I do have a soft spot for it.

I love the part of 'This Is The Way' video where Julian McMahon seamlessly transitions from drinking his water to washing with it. So bizarre it's hilarious.

With the exception of Disrememberance nothing else revealed so far would be my preference of music.

The 'Get Into You' video looks like a GAP commercial, huh never noticed that before. Also what was the point of actually releasing this, considering it came 8 months after the last single and the album had already bombed way before then, so I just don't get WHY?, there didn't seem to be any point, there was no-way this filler of a track was gonna turn things round and did anybody actually want this. The fact that it managed to make top 40 is something of a miracle and being a 5th single with a pretty poor track record, only 1 out of 5 became a hit.

Thankfully she turned things around a few years later by heading into Dance music, which really suited her far better, as her early pop stuff was mainly bland (apart from 1 or 2 little gems).

'Disremembrance' - really doesn't deserve to be that low, especially amongst what's dropped so far. Its a beautiful track and definitely stands as one of her strongest and better numbers. Its UK peak of #21 always annoyed me , as it just missed the top 20 by the skin of its teeth and we didn't get the planned 4th single the wonderful 'Heaven Can Wait', which would have ended this era perfectly and given us 4 strong singles instead of just 3. It was even remixed for its release namely the 7" Mix (which I've posted below).

Heaven should have been the second single I think .

Get Into You was released 8 months after the last single to promote the VHS get into you video collection.

Points Breakdown

Cover - 217 out of a possible 400
Album - 119 out of a possible 400
Single Selection - 62 out of a possible 400

Personal Opinion

I have mixed feelings on this album, I have never known an album where the single selections have been sooooooooooooooo bad (ok maybe X) but yeah ignore the first 2 and i'm happy with the last 3 singles.

What are your opinions ? too high ? too low ? lets discuss

Points Breakdown

Cover - 268 out of a possible 500
Video - 222 out of a possible 500

I like the song and the video, it was a shame this didn't get any sort of push and was pretty much abandoned.

That's just too low. The song is one of the best from Dannii in terms of her vocal.

Number 15 - Love and kisses - 653 Points

Points Breakdown

Song - 233 out of a possible 500
Cover - 228 out of a possible 500
Video - 192 out of a possible 500

Personal Opinion

By debuts singles this isn't that bad but some of the lyrics and the look she had are so laughable now, thankfully she improved but sadly didn't get the success she deserved.

Number 14 - Touch me like that - 730 Points

Points Breakdown

Video - 324 out of a possible 500
Song - 242 out of a possible 500
Cover - 142 out of a possible 500

Personal Opinion

This song should have done a lot better than what it did, then again Dannii should have got off her backside and actually promoted. How was Cheryl allowed to perform on X-Factor but Dannii wasn't.
