British middleweight champion Nathan Heaney says the stakes are "massive" ahead of his fight with Brad Pauls in terms of securing a potential shot at the world title.

The 34-year-old from Stoke defends his British crown for the first time against English champion Pauls in Birmingham on 16 March.

"I believe I have the style to compete and beat quite a few fighters," Heaney told BBC Radio Stoke.

Dan Azeez described friend-turned-opponent Joshua Buatsi as a "diva and a cry baby" before Saturday's all-British light-heavyweight contest.

The two Londoners will collide at Wembley's OVO Arena in an eliminator for the WBA world title.

Buatsi, 30, has previously questioned the legitimacy of Azeez's back injury which postponed their October bout.

"Why would I fake an injury to fight you a few months later?", 34-year-old Azeez asked in reply.

Tyson Fury's undisputed heavyweight title fight against Oleksandr Usyk has been rescheduled for 18 May.

Fury, 35, had been due to fight Ukraine's Usyk on 17 February but withdrew from the contest on Friday after sustaining a cut in sparring.

The Briton is the WBC champion while Ukraine's Usyk, 37, holds the WBA, WBO and IBF titles.

Their bout in Saudi Arabia will crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion in the four-belt era.

Usyk wished Fury a speedy recovery and said he was "ready to fight for undisputed any time, anywhere".

Conor Benn claimed a unanimous points decision win over Peter Dobson in their welterweight contest in Las Vegas.

Benn started strongly but was pegged back by the previously unbeaten Dobson in the second half of the fight.

Every judge scored the fight for Benn, who extended his unbeaten record to 23-0.

Benn said the "dream" was to return to fighting in the UK, but the 27-year-old does not hold a licence in his home country.

Former world champion Mike Tyson says his boxing match against YouTuber Jake Paul on 20 July will be an exhibition bout and not an official fight.

Tyson, whose professional career ended in 2005, will turn 58 three weeks before facing Paul in Texas.

Paul, 27, beat Ryan Bourland in his 10th professional fight last month.

"This is called an exhibition, but if you look up 'exhibition' you will not see any of the rules will be fighting under. This is a fight," Tyson said.

The contest - which will not count to their professional records if it is an exhibition - will broadcast live on streaming platform Netflix.

Tyson Fury says Oleksandr Usyk is too small to compete with him in their undisputed heavyweight world title fight.

Briton Fury, 35, is the WBC champion, while Ukraine's Usyk, 36, holds the WBA, WBO and IBF belts.

Fury said former cruiserweight champion Usyk will be "found wanting" on 18 May in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Chris Billam-Smith will defend his WBO cruiserweight title against Richard Riakporhe at Selhurst Park on 15 June.

Billam-Smith, 33, beat Lawrence Okolie for the world title in May last year.

It will be another all-British contest when Billam-Smith, also a Commonwealth and European champion, meets Riakporhe at the home ground of Crystal Palace.

Riakporhe is the only fighter to beat Billam-Smith professionally, in a split-decision win in July 2019 for the WBA Intercontinental title.

But Billam-Smith has remained unbeaten since, including retaining the cruiserweight crown by beating Mateusz Masternak in Bournemouth in December 2023.
