On the train down to London now! Someone at work told me that they know Ricky Wilson’s family and they said he is going to be at the show tonight. Performing possibly?

It was a great show just a bit too spice heavy for me. Loved viva forever but could have done without the rest and had some more Melanie C songs. Was great to see some older stuff not performed for a while like Why, Reason, Home, Beautiful intentions, Gaga and Weak though!!!!🥰

Plus, my favourite Mel song, HOME being performed. Sounds like a great gig!! |

The gig was epic but this venue is not the one !!! I don't know why she didn't go all out and book 1 night at somewhere like the Royal Albert Hall. With all the international fans flocking over she could have sold it out I'm sure. Loads of people missed out on tickets and the venue is a piss poor one, she and the night deserved better. |

I agree with this, somewhere with seats so everyone could see, honestly I’m too old to be standing all night, especially on top toes, my back was f***ed the next day! |

Guess the Spice fans are old now lol
It's a CLUB venue, a pretty important and 'cool' one at that, that also hosts gigs. But yes clearly she went for 'cool' when she could have gone a bit bigger, though in a normal venue she wouldnt have been able to do the after party and DJs into 3am, just her gig. She wanted a party not just a normal gig, clearly. It's her birthday at the end of the day |

Overall it was a good night - still living for the performances of "Viva Forever" and "2 Become 1" she did with Emma and Nat and Nic Appleton, and to hear some solo deep cuts like "Reason", "Home" and "Ga Ga" in particular. I did used to go to KOKO quite a bit back in the day because they used to film The Album Chart Show for T4 there and it was enjoyable back then.
Maybe it's because I'm not in my early twenties anymore but I'm not sure it's the same venue for me now. I get that it was Mel's choice of venue but that doesn't necessarily mean it was the right choice. Especially when you're somewhere near the back like I was (I'm 6 ft 3 so could still get a decentish view when I wasn't being shoved) and trying to hear what she's saying over pissed up Ellas dressed as Sporty Spice who are heckling David Arnold for not being Emma Bunton (I came close to telling them to not be so bloody rude, but thought better of it). |

The royal albert hall does not suit the type of show that Melanie puts on so im pleased it was not there !!
I loved the fantastic reaction to HICA & Reason!! The people standing around me did not know the songs from Beautiful Intentions. Be interesting to see what venues she selects for the upcoming tour. |

So personally I loved the setlist but would have preferred to have Think about it and Anymore over two of the Spice tracks and Who I am rather than Overload.
I would have gone: Northern Star Here I Am / Weak In & Out Of Love Never Be The Same Again Next Best Superstar Beautiful Intentions Goin Down / Gaga Version Of Me / Why Home When Youre Gone with Ricky Wilson Here It Comes Again Reason Viva Forever with Emma Who Fo You Think You Are (with All Saints, Sink Pink, Phoenix Chi and all the rest) Think about it Anymore Blame It On Me Who I am Into you I Turn To You That would have been close to perfection for me. |

I also thought Anymore and Think A bout It would return to the setlist!
I guess she is saving them for an eventual greatest hit set !! She has always mentioned leaving the audience wanting more. This post has been edited by vibe: 15th January 2024, 06:50 AM |

Sporty Forty was better in my opinion from the location to the set list...

The videos look like it was a great fun gig!! Well done Mel!!
Also, realised that Mel now sings 'There's a man in Timbaktu' in Spice Up Your Life instead of that awful lyric in the original. Good for her, I hope they adopt it |
