All 52 of last year's Multicharts have been compiled, so it's time to count down and find out Buzzjack's OFFICIAL favorite songs of the year!

This EOY is compiled in a points-based format based on the weekly Multichart: the #1 each week gets 75 points, the #75 gets 1 point, and so on. You can use that to have an idea of which songs will do well here. Any guesses, hopes, predictions?

#75 through #71 will be posted shortly! Until then, here's how the Year-End Multichart looked in 2021:

71 604 Calvin Harris, Justin Timberlake, Halsey & Pharrell - Stay With Me (16-12-8-5-5-7-17-20-21-45-xx) [10 wks]
72 599 Joel Corry & Tom Grennan - Lionheart (Fearless) (44-20-5-3-2-2-2-3-4-...) [9 wks]
73 597 Mimi Webb - House On Fire (20-12-10-9-8-9-8-16-29-58-60-xx) [11 wks]
74 594 Doja Cat - Vegas (41-24-22-27-32-34-40-36-42-46-49-59-54-57-55-53-48-55-xx) [18 wks]
75 592 Mabel & 24kGoldn - Overthinking (25-27-33-30-49-62-26-19-14-13-19-32-56-67-xx) [14 wks]

Mabel's 'Overthinking' rounds out the top 75, fun fact this made it in over Chanel's 'SloMo' by just 1 point. With a #22 peak Doja Cat's 'Vegas' is the lowest-peaking song on the countdown, but has the longevity to make up for it! Mimi Webb had her biggest hit to date last year with 'House On Fire' and is rewarded with her first appearance in our EOY. 'Lionheart (Fearless)' is one of the newest songs here, doing just well enough in its first 9 weeks to sneak in! And we have Calvin Harris with 'Stay With Me', two weeks top 5 but a pretty swift exit after that - not one of his best efforts I'm afraid!

I'm quite surprised house on fire is as low as this. Could be my own bias though.

Not 'Stay With Me' being propped up by bots here too basil.gif (glad that made it in, a lot of this Calvin era was whatever for me but I did enjoy both of the big singles).

'Vegas' is by far the best of those 5 though so yay for it making it despite the low peak! One of her best songs to date for me. 'Overthinking' is also pretty good by Mabel standards.

66 626 Luude feat. Colin Hay - Down Under (66-41-25-19-18-16-17-18-26-19-23-32-42-xx) [13 wks]
67 622 ACRAZE feat. Cherish - Do It To It (...-6-4-2-4-7-9-13-22-24-26-40-63-xx) [11 wks]
68 619 Tom Grennan - Remind Me (57-46-41-43-34-24-18-16-13-21-23-24-28-57-xx) [14 wks]
69 616 Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Wolf (70-38-30-26-14-13-11-19-18-17-21-19-...) [12 wks]
70 613 Tom Grennan - All These Nights (44-36-26-12-12-14-18-21-26-39-41-49-51-62-xx) [14 wks]

Tom Grennan's safe, middle of the road pop reached quite the audience here on Buzzjack, his two top 15 hits even having samey chart runs and finishing the EOY almost side by side. Yeah Yeah Yeahs returned with their first album in nearly decade. It spawned two fabulous Multichart top 20 hits: 'Spitting Off The Edge Of The World', and 'Wolf' which deservedly features here despite not having left the chart yet. Remakes continued to set the mainstream dance scene alight in 2022 as we saw with 'Down Under' and 'Do It To It' dominating at the start of the year. Popular opinion: ACRAZE did it better.

I didn't realize both of Tom's singles had equal-length chart runs and nearly identical peaks! Pleased to see Remind Me ahead of All These Nights but I do like both.

61 653 Joel Corry & Becky Hill - HISTORY (13-6-5-4-5-5-7-16-26-39-57-xx) [11 wks]
62 639 Lady Gaga - Hold My Hand (35-32-18-16-14-12-14-17-17-20-29-49-xx) [12 wks]
63 636 James Hype & Miggy Dela Rosa - Ferrari (69-66-54-xx-58-48-24-16-15-13-18-16-19-20-30-38-xx) [15 wks]
64 633 Florence + The Machine - My Love (52-27-12-10-10-13-10-16-32-35-46-39-53-xx) [13 wks]
65 633 Jack Harlow - First Class (42-26-12-12-8-15-11-17-23-41-43-43-61-xx) [13 wks]

Jack Harlow's second big solo hit 'First Class' set a Fergie sample to wallpaper music, reaching #8 on the Multichart, Lady Gaga peaked at #12 with her AOR ballad for that Top Gun movie, and Buzzjack blew their load when Joel Corry & Becky Hill came together for a song that shockingly turned out to be boring and shit. On the brighter side of things, Florence pulled off 3 weeks at #10 with 'My Love', and James Hype got a hit with a song destined to soundtrack Formula 1 montages

pleased to see 5 of my personal chart number ones on 2021 list (ABBA x2, Regard, Marshmello, Wolf Alice), esp since only one went top 10 in the streaming-dominated charts (ABBA) and one top 20 (ABBA). Hooray for Buzzjack!

So far for 2022 rundown there's 2 (Fearless & Wolf) neither of which went UK top 10 and one didn't go top 40 and one near-miss (Florence peaked at 2 for me). Hooray for Buzzjack!

56 673 Taylor Swift - Anti-Hero (3-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-…) [9 wks]
57 673 Joji - Glimpse Of Us (46-15-13-14-7-5-7-10-14-17-29-63-xx-75-xx) [13 wks]
58 666 ROSALÍA - DESPECHÁ (31-29-15-9-10-11-20-21-37-41-40-47-60-65-62-69-xx-59-xx) [17 wks]
59 664 Ava Max - Million Dollar Baby (31-57-17-12-13-13-15-25-44-44-44-45-37-40-39-xx) [15 wks]
60 655 Oliver Tree & Robin Schulz - Miss You (26-13-7-7-6-6-7-8-10-15-...) [10 wks]

One of the more unexpected collabs of the year and a divisive one too, but Oliver Tree and Robin Schulz made it to #6 on the Multichart and #60 on the EOY. Southstar robbed, etc. Next is Ava Max with 'Million Dollar Baby', which had a nice run until it dropped out all the way from #39. ROSALÍA's biggest hit of 2022 was 'DESPECHÁ', her first Multichart top 10 and dare I say probably not her last. Joji had a massive breakthrough with 'Glimpse Of Us', going top 5 on Buzzjack and #1 in a couple countries, impressive for such a slow and stripped-down ballad. 'Anti-Hero', the last #1 of the year, has almost the highest possible total for a 9-week chart run and as a result appears at a respectable #56.

51 723 Lewis Capaldi - Forget Me (30-28-20-12-11-9-12-9-14-16-21-33-52-74-xx) [14 wks]
52 718 The Weeknd - Sacrifice (5-2-1-1-1-4-10-10-15-25-44-xx) [11 wks]
53 713 Sigala - Melody (31-18-12-19-18-21-23-39-55-68-57-38-35-34-30-38-43-xx) [17 wks]
54 688 Calvin Harris, Dua Lipa & Young Thug - Potion (14-10-7-7-9-11-11-10-19-25-34-67-xx) [12 wks]
55 681 Ellie Goulding feat. Big Sean - Easy Lover (30-17-9-8-10-12-16-19-17-23-38-43-65-xx) [13 wks]

Our forum members easily loved Ellie Goulding's comeback single while the UK charts did not. Unlike 'Stay With Me', Calvin's 'Potion' had a more respectable run near the top of the Multichart that was not propped up by bots, but by Dua's little lipas instead.

We also have the painfully generic 'Melody' by Sigala which somehow racked up a lengthy 17 weeks on the chart. The Weeknd's 'Sacrifice' proved to be a bit of a non-number one in hindsight, and there's a man in a nappy that shrieked and yelled his way to #9 twice.

46 758 Anne Marie & Aitch  - PSYCHO (30-21-9-8-10-8-8-10-15-22-16-25-48-xx) [13 wks]
47 755 Regard & Years and Years - Hallucination (16-5-3-3-4-6-7-6-7-20-29-51-xx) [12 wks]
48 736 George Ezra - Anyone For You (Tiger Lily) (9-9-5-3-4-4-7-10-17-29-33-46-xx) [12 wks]
49 732 Shawn Mendes - When You're Gone (60-25-11-9-6-9-9-17-21-21-24-41-37-48-69-xx) [15 wks]

Mattafix's mid-noughties hit Big City Life got a D&B revival from resident hack Luude, while Regard did a song with Olly Alexander which snagged that instrumental hook from Imany's worldwide smash Don't Be So Shy. Anne-Marie teamed up with Aitch in her quest to make the most unlistenable music ever, George Ezra's comeback single about serenading a plant or something debuted in the top 10 a year ago, and Shawn Mendes had a single out too if you remember that

41 789 Becky Hill & Galantis - Run (15-6-6-3-3-4-2-2-4-11-15-52-xx) [12 wks]
42 785 Charlie Puth - Light Switch (36-23-14-12-6-7-8-11-15-15-20-25-42-47-74-xx) [15 wks]
43 779 Carolina Gaitan & The Encanto Cast - We Don't Talk About Bruno (42-33-8-10-13-10-7-12-11-20-39-34-32-37-xx-53-xx) [15 wks]
44 767 Alesso & Katy Perry - When I'm Gone (9-3-3-2-5-5-7-9-14-18-35-48-63-xx) [13 wks]
45 760 Megan Thee Stallion & Dua Lipa - Sweetest Pie (9-5-4-2-5-5-5-9-12-31-38-45-xx-58-xx) [13 wks]

Megan Thee Stallion went higher on the Multichart than she's ever been before, getting to #2 with Dua Lipa on 'Sweetest Pie', now better known as '(2nd Most) Stable (2nd Week) Pie'. clap.gif Katy Perry also found herself at #2 for a week, collabing with Alesso on 'When I'm Gone'. One of the most unlikely hitmakers of the year was the Encanto cast, with 'We Don't Talk About Bruno' hitting #1 on both sides of the pond and #8 here. Meanwhile Charlie Puth returned from relative obscurity like a light switch, with easily his catchiest song to date. BRIT Award winner Becky Hill amazingly still has dance artists she hasn't collaborated with yet, or at least she did in 2022 - she and Galantis released 'Run' which was yet another Multichart #2 in this section.

36 859 Tiësto & Charli XCX - Hot In It (12-5-3-3-3-4-8-10-11-15-13-18-44-56-xx) [14 wks]
37 822 Years and Years & Galantis - Sweet Talker (...-3-4-2-4-5-4-4-8-13-19-30-32-38-xx) [13 wks]
38 821 Charli XCX - Used To Know Me (30-29-18-16-14-8-8-11-17-12-15-20-26-51-52-68-xx) [16 wks]
39 817 Sigala & Talia Mar - Stay The Night (36-31-31-23-20-20-18-18-18-24-28-18-18-23-38-43-74-xx-70-xx) [18 wks]
40 807 Rina Sawayama - Hold The Girl (30-11-13-14-12-12-9-6-8-9-14-27-51-52-65-xx) [15 wks]

Since making the leap from somewhat indie to all-out pop, Rina Sawayama began racking up Multichart top 10 hits. 'Hold The Girl', her 4th to-date, finds Rina serving vocals for days over everything from strings, to video game flourishes to a 2-step beat. Sigala scored another long running top 20 hit with the extremely faceless and dated 'Stay The Night' peaking at number 18 for 5 non-consecutive weeks.

Even Charli XCX got in on the dance sample trend with 'Used To Know Me' and its inspired sample choice of 'Show Me Love' by Robin S. While her Tiësto collab 'Hot In It' bopped its way into the top 3, achieving a higher peak than Tiësto's annual Q1 smashes 'The Business' and 'The Motto'.

2022 also saw Galantis randomly become the go-to dance feature for artists on the Polydor roster. Here they appear on Olly Alexander's 'Sweet Talker' which was held off the top spot by GAYLE at the start of the year.

31 936 Camila Cabello feat. Ed Sheeran - Bam Bam (39-16-8-5-3-4-3-3-4-7-14-19-25-32-38-60-xx) [16 wks]

34 894 Beyoncé - CUFF IT (53-62-68-49-50-26-22-12-7-6-6-9-18-15-15-16-16-24-...) [18 wks]
35 888 Purple Disco Machine feat. Sophie and the Giants - In The Dark (12-12-10-12-8-9-9-12-14-13-22-26-29-38-41-70-xx-67-xx) [17 wks]

German producer Purple Disco Machine appears to be a Multichart favourite with multiple hits, 'In the Dark' featuring Sophie And The Giants being the biggest so far. Tove Lo's 'No One Dies From Love' became the first of two Top 10 singles from her album Dirt Femme, while Camila Cabello's 'Bam Bam' spent 3 weeks at #3. Sam Smith & Kim Petras' viral chart topper 'Unholy' and Beyoncé's second Renaissance single 'CUFF IT' also crack the top 40 here despite their full chart runs being cut off into early 2023.

27 979 Latto & Mariah Carey feat. DJ Khaled - Big Energy (72-xx-62-xx-21-20-13-10-7-3-5-8-7-6-6-14-21-24-31-59-xx) [18 wks]
28 968 Jessie Ware Free Yourself (61-9-4-3-3-3-3-4-4-6-8-16-15-31-54-60-57-59-xx) [18 wks]
29 963 George Ezra - Green Green Grass (45-30-19-15-13-9-5-9-10-10-12-11-15-21-28-40-52-61-xx) [18 wks]
30 960 Adele - Oh My God (...-22-17-7-5-4-2-2-2-4-7-14-17-21-35-42-54-xx) [16 wks]

You may have forgotten 'Oh My God' matched its UK peak on the Multichart, but instead of debuting at #2 it took several weeks to get there. My favorite song in this section is at #29, nursery rhyme anthem 'Green Green Grass', slay us George Ezra lyrical king. clap.gif Some of you might be pleased to see Jessie Ware ahead of that at #28 with 'Free Yourself', her only EOY appearance this year. 'Big Energy' was not looking like much of a hit here until the remix with Mariah and DJ Khaled boosted it to #3, matching its Billboard Hot 100 peak; unfortunately the UK didn't follow suit as the check to Spotify HHUK got lost in the mail. sleep.gif And Tove Lo appears in back-to-back sections, '2 Die 4' apparently loves the number 10 if you look at its chart run!
