I can’t deal with it. Who at Global sits there and thinks you know what people want, 2 older tracks on the playlist???

I could come up with a better, fresher playlist than Heart easily. They just don't make the effort.

Not at all. Half the songs they play aren't even from this century. They used to use the hilariously inaccurate catchphrase 'more music diversity' (when they have probably one of the most repetitive playlists of all UK radio stations) just because of the 'gimmick' of playing super overplayed songs from the 80s and 90s as well as from today.

This is so true! I think they still use 'more music variety' as well, glad it's not just me who thinks that it's very inaccurate, presumably they only use 'more music variety' as a comparison to Capital! laugh.gif Every day I've listened to it - no matter which year - I hear the same set of songs (Miss Independent, Uptown Funk, It Feels So Good, Want To Want Me, etc), it's very boring to listen to for any longer than a few hours a year.

They say on their website that their core audience is aged between 25-44.

Heart have moved away from 80s music a lot now they have their own dedicated station for it so they now play more 00s and 90s stuff, mainly hits from recent years. It’s definitely more adult orientated radio but that’s always been the case since it’s inception as a station. To be honest it’s more about the Global brand as a company they have Capital and Radio X to compete with Radio 1 so Heart is like their R2 competition along with Smooth so they’re not going to diversify their playlist too much when they have other stations under the same umbrella.

Oh yes 'more music variety' was what I meant! It's just been too long since I've heard them use that phrase (maybe they had to drop it due to it being false advertising tongue.gif)

They'd always play their little tagline saying 'more music variety' in between songs from different decades so it was pretty obvious what they were trying to do. I don't get why they play such a limited catalogue even of old hits though, there has to be hundreds and hundreds of Heart appropriate older songs but it's always the same few dozen at most they play.

Yes, now we get treated to 'turn up the feel good' every couple of minutes instead.

Exactly this! I don't dislike most of the songs on there but I just get so bored of them being played over and over again. I think there are so many more songs of the type that would be suitable for Heart which they could be playing as well!

I'm surprised to see Natasha Bedingfield even get R2 support, I thought she was just that low in the pecking order these days!

lol @ Heart adding 'Sweet But Psycho' now. Nothing surprises me with that station though, after all they did have 'Locked Out of Heaven' on their playlist for about 5 years.
