Posted by: jase. Nov 28 2017, 09:18 PM

The X Factor final airs this Saturday night on ITV at 19:05pm from The ExCel centre. It concludes on Sunday night from 19:15pm.

The finalists -

Rat-Su
Grace Davies
Kevin Davy White

Duets TBC.

Guest performers: P!nk, Little Mix/CNCO, Louis Tomlinson, Sam Smith, PrettyMuch

Tellymix WHO DO YOU WANT TO WIN poll -

1 - Rat-Su 37.59% (627 votes)
2 - Grace Davies 32.61% (544 votes)
3 - Kevin Davy White 29.8% (497 votes)

The poll results are actually a lot closer than I imagined ohmy.gif Our Saara topped last years Tellymix poll and we all know what happened there sad.gif

I expect Rak-Su will win and hope this is the case as they are obviously the most popular act this year and stand the biggest chance of being Simon's next money grabber.

Posted by: Liаm Nov 28 2017, 09:38 PM

Rak-Su will almost certainly do a Fleur East and have one milked out hit, I can see it laugh.gif They are certainly going to win though.

Posted by: Ryan. Nov 28 2017, 09:51 PM

This is potentially one of the best final 3s ever, not a fan of Rak-Su but it’s the most relevant and talented as a whole probably since the 2010 series (Matt/Rebecca/1D/Cher).

I can’t really predict the winner either, not sure Rak-Su quite have it in the bag. I think Grace could win if she makes the Sunday as Roots if she does it is the strongest original song of the series. But if the rumoured duet for Kevin happens then I think he’ll push Grace out on the Saturday leaving Rak-Su the ultimate advantage of an original winners single whereas Kevin will probably have a cover.

Posted by: ChRiMbO LeG PiPe Nov 28 2017, 10:31 PM

Saara Alto did really well to get 2nd, but she should have won over Matt Terry really. He had no personality around him and only an ok voice.

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds Nov 29 2017, 07:05 PM

Rak-Su to win so I can get my hands on a debut single now (and they've got the best chance of an official #1) (provided they're not forced to perform a ballad as the winner's single wink.gif )

All three deserve to be there though, I'd be here for a shock Kevin win.

Tellymix poll to win -

Rat-Su 38.5% (822 votes)
Grace Davies 32.51% (694 votes)
Kevin Davy White 28.99% (619 votes)

EDIT (30/11) -

Rat-Su 39.62% (929 votes)
Grace Davies 31.47% (738 votes)
Kevin Davy White 28.91% (678 votes)

This is actually probably exactly what they will want to happen. They've probably encouraged Grace to perform Roots as her Sunday winner's single, but will aim to have her out on the Saturday. They will achieve this by getting Kevin to duet with Nicole who will ensure progression through to Sunday, presumably at the expense of Grace who will have saved her ultimate weapon for the Sunday. Therefore Rak-Su won't be up against Roots and will secure the win unless Kevin can pick up lots of casual votes in this one-on-one vote.

If that fails and Grace does win with Roots then they will know they've got a successful single on their hands even if it wasn't their Plan A.

I really think the outcome of this final significantly hinges on whether Kevin performs with Nicole or not.

Posted by: Jonjo Nov 30 2017, 10:15 PM

Roots is really bland though... I genuinely don't get the mass hysteria behind it. Pretty much every other one of her originals have been superior.

Yeah I agree! That was her worst original (well, maybe after her judges houses one), audition was such a bore. The ones she did on the first week of the Lives & the one just gone were her best imo.

Posted by: Cameron Nov 30 2017, 10:58 PM

This year they should have taken the Popstars approach and released originals from all 3 finalists and let the chart battle decide

Posted by: jase. Nov 30 2017, 11:07 PM

God I want Kevin to win SO much.

Rat-Su and Grace are gonna be signed either way.

Posted by: BiLLYx Dec 1 2017, 12:53 AM

I'm not sure why people think Nicole duetting with Kevin will get him through - her past duets have also been shoe ins for the finale anyway.

Posted by: Ryan. Dec 1 2017, 07:51 AM

Matt went into the final on the back of a sing-off, I think without the Nicole duet he’d have been out on the Saturday. Kevin and Nicole would just suit each other perfectly anyway!

Posted by: jase. Dec 1 2017, 10:35 AM

Saturday's performances -

Grace is performing "Roots" + "Live and Let Die"
Kevin is performing "Whole Lotta Love" and "Fastlove, Pt 1"
Rat-Su are performing "Mamacita" + "Dimelo"

Posted by: cqmerqn Dec 1 2017, 12:07 PM

Kevin won’t be going then... bye Grace sad.gif

Posted by: jase. Dec 1 2017, 12:15 PM

Live and Let Die is a very random song choice blink.gif

Posted by: jase. Dec 1 2017, 12:18 PM

Simon on This Morning admitting that he's struggled to sign any big names laugh.gif

Posted by: jase. Dec 1 2017, 12:31 PM

Apparently Roots, Fastlove and Mamacita are reserved for the final and they will only do a new song and a duet tomorrow.

It's really all down to the duets this year.

I have a feeling Kevin could win if he gets to Sunday and performs Fastlove.

Posted by: cqmerqn Dec 1 2017, 12:48 PM

I’m going to put £5 on Kevin. He’s 9/1. There’s no way he’d not win if he gets through and performs Fast Love.

I've actually looked back, and people who sing upbeat in the final NEVER win. Saara singing Oh So Quiet, Fleur done Uptown Funk, Reggie N Bollie, Marcus Collins, Cher Lloyd, Olly Murs etc all done something upbeat so bye at Raksu's chances of winning

Posted by: RobBob Dec 1 2017, 02:53 PM

Becky Hill is opening the show on Saturday apparently, interesting that someone from The Voice has got herself some kind of slot.

Posted by: Jack Dec 1 2017, 03:19 PM

Good on Becky Hill! I love her voice, she deserves appreciation.

Even if this show is complete trash now and full of talentless nobodies.

Posted by: dancember Dec 1 2017, 03:31 PM

Becky will be with Pete Tong and the Heritage Orchestra to promote their album presumably? Good for them.

Little Mix tho... You've Got the Love and 'Don't Let Go'.

Also:

Steve Brookstein - (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher & Higher
Leon Jackson - Better the Devil You Know
Joe McElderry - Don't Stop Believin'
Matt Cardle - Firework
James Arthur - Feeling Good
Sam Bailey - The Edge of Glory
Ben Haenow - Man In the Mirror

Although some of those might be mid tempo, they're certainly not the dull, dreary sort of ballads that that poster is probably comparing them to. Lol.

Posted by: Liаm Dec 1 2017, 03:52 PM

Also, pretty much all those instances had the obvious winners anyway so uptempo or ballad it wasn't gonna make a difference. At the time I did fear R&B could snatch it, Saara I thought could win (but I don't thonk it was really singing uptempo that damaged her, it was probably the more casual voters coming in for the final and preferring the bland traditonally X Factor attractive male with a nice voice) and I had blind hope for Fleur I suppose but for the others it was obvious that who won would win, as much as Saara, Fleur and Olly should have won.

I really can't see past Rak-Su storming this but I would love to be wrong, they'll get their wrung out one hit wonder anyway.

People are also saying Rat-Su may not do well in a flash vote. Here's hoping!

Posted by: Rudolph Dec 1 2017, 11:03 PM

I'm guessing the winners track hasn't been announced yet, all 3 must have recorded it. I'm assuming we all have to wait till Sunday for the reveal.

Posted by: ChRiMbO LeG PiPe Dec 1 2017, 11:08 PM

So a cover ://

Flash votes didn't stop them winning before...

I thought they were referencing flash votes but no.

From the same forum -

They will not succeed in a vote that lasts longer than 10 mins.
That’s what I think too, if hey win Saturday night I’m certain they’ll fall back like Saara did.
Yup, they have only won flash votes they haven't won long votes

Posted by: ChRiMbO LeG PiPe Dec 2 2017, 02:49 AM

Yah and people on Buzzjack thought it would be an all girl finale when they were nearly the first category to be wiped out!! laugh.gif

Posted by: jase. Dec 2 2017, 02:20 PM

Tokio Myers is doing one of the duets - I assume that'll be with Kevin?

Posted by: D0bz Dec 2 2017, 02:21 PM

Well that could be quite spectacular if so!

Posted by: jase. Dec 2 2017, 02:36 PM

He tweeted it and then deleted it laugh.gif So yeah, definitely happening.

Posted by: dancember Dec 2 2017, 02:40 PM

If it's Tokio Myers then I presume the song will be 'Bloodstream', which would suit Kevin more than anything, and I presume Nicole will be on stage with him too seeing as Tokio does not sing.

Posted by: Sabrina. Dec 2 2017, 03:39 PM

Fingers crossed for Rak-Su, but I do think it'll all be down to performance on the night.

Any idea on who the guest performers are tonight? Looking forward to Little Mix & CNCO

Posted by: Mistletheo Dec 2 2017, 04:15 PM

Please can guests and song choices go in the spoiler thread? It's not that difficult...

Christ almighty rolleyes.gif

EDIT: I'm thinking Tokio can get Kevin to Sunday at least! Which is where he'll perform Fastlove..

I think he could do this!

Posted by: Rudolph Dec 2 2017, 05:05 PM

Tonight's show starts at 7:05pm, in case some people decide to switch the TV around 8pm

Posted by: ChRiMbO LeG PiPe Dec 2 2017, 05:24 PM

Kevin has THE best performance of the series, so better for him to win than teenage girl-driven Rak Su rolleyes.gif

Omfg listening to Roots again and WOW!!! wub.gif wub.gif

Posted by: jase. Dec 2 2017, 05:38 PM

It's a shame we'll only get to hear Roots if Grace gets through tonight's show sad.gif

Posted by: ChRiMbO LeG PiPe Dec 2 2017, 05:39 PM

And with the teenage girl vote and Kevin's duets and cheap Nicole feature, I doubt it sad.gif

Posted by: Jonjo Dec 2 2017, 05:40 PM

Little Mix are performing tomorrow! I think P!nk and Sam are too.

I assume it'll just be PRETTYMUCH tonight.

Now rumours that Tokio is performing with a non-contestant, so maybe Becky or Louis?

Somebody isn't happy about their X-Factor duet, which means either Grace or Kevin because the producers really want the others to win -

So now I'm reading the duets are the winners singles. RakSu and Wyclef Jean, Grace and Paloma Faith, Kevin and Tokio Myers

Posted by: Esmerelda Dec 2 2017, 07:22 PM

I'm guessing that Nicole won't be imploring the UK to "vote for their own" this year like she did at last year's final...

Posted by: cqmerqn Dec 2 2017, 07:28 PM

Kevin 05.0

His worst performance yet I think!

Posted by: Davidson Dec 2 2017, 07:28 PM

5 app votes to Kevin already.

He's phenomenal, leagues ahead of everyone else.

Posted by: jase. Dec 2 2017, 07:29 PM

God Kevin is f***ing amazing. 9/10

SO excited to see his collab with Tokio. It could be something really special.

Posted by: Jason Dec 2 2017, 07:29 PM

I liked Kevin's performance but he should sing current songs. tongue.gif

Posted by: Jonjo Dec 2 2017, 07:30 PM

01. Kevin - Whole Lotta Love

He has a great voice etc.. but I dunno, it kinda felt a bit weak? Like, it wasn't bad or mediocre, it was just very... ehhh. He's done farrrr better/more polished and fulfilling performances.

06.5 out of 10

Maybe its juts me atm feeling really tired and feeling like I can't be bothered about this final haha.

Posted by: Rudolph Dec 2 2017, 07:33 PM

I'm on the same level as Jonjo, I was split 50/50 over it. Had better performances

Posted by: Davidson Dec 2 2017, 07:44 PM

That was painful. I feel like Grace is coming 3rd unless her duet saves her; she definitely should do after that anyway.

Posted by: jase. Dec 2 2017, 07:46 PM

That didn't work at ALL :/

Posted by: cqmerqn Dec 2 2017, 07:46 PM

They’re sabotaging her

Posted by: Jason Dec 2 2017, 07:47 PM

I didn't like this odd song choice, I hope she's not in the final night.

Posted by: Rudolph Dec 2 2017, 07:49 PM

I just felt Grace's performance was a bit underwhelming, that track has been covered so many times on the X Factor, totally wrong song choice for her.

Posted by: Rudolph Dec 2 2017, 07:51 PM

These intros are just too long drama.gif

Posted by: Jonjo Dec 2 2017, 07:51 PM

I felt exactly the same about that performance as I did with Kevin's.

So yeah. I'm tuning out now lol. Mehhhhhhh.

I shall watch tomorrow. For Little Mix and P!nk obvz 😂😂

Posted by: cqmerqn Dec 2 2017, 07:53 PM

Posted by: Rudolph Dec 2 2017, 07:55 PM

Posted by: cqmerqn Dec 2 2017, 07:56 PM

Do something different ffs

Posted by: Jason Dec 2 2017, 07:57 PM

Kevin 7.0
Grace 4.0
Rak-Su 3.0

Forgettable show so far.

Grace 08.0
Kevin 05.0
Rak-Su 00.0

Probably better for her not to win after that tbh. She'll be able to release a Paloma-less version

Posted by: Rudolph Dec 2 2017, 08:35 PM

I quite like Roots it works better with a solo artist though, I don't think Paloma added anything much to it.

As for Kevin's, it was alright but it didn't click with me, as Roots did.

Posted by: cqmerqn Dec 2 2017, 08:44 PM

DUETS

11.0 Grace x Paloma
03.5 Rak-Su x 1038 others
03.0 Kevin x Tokio

The clear manipulation for Rak-Su is UNREAL, but at least it will get The X Factor another huge hit winners single.

Kevin was worst of the night by a mile, but I can see the order going...

01 Rak-Su
02 Kevin
03 Grace

Posted by: Rudolph Dec 2 2017, 09:35 PM

I hope Grace wins tomorrow, I preferred her Roots performance over Live and Let Die, I didn't really think Kevin's performances were good enough tonight, and Rak-Su tracks they all sound the same to me, but deep down I think Rak-Su seem to be the likely winners.

Posted by: D0bz Dec 2 2017, 09:41 PM

Ah shame Kevin left but it was to be expected. I agree his solo version of Fastlove was incredible & definitely one of my faves this year but I liked the Tokio collab too. Whole Lotta Love was just the token final opener song.

Liked both of Grace's performances too, not all that keen on Roots as a song but it worked well as a perf.

As for Rak-Su I'm not fussed on Mamacita but Dimelo is actually an absolute tune, so glad that will be THE X-Factor winner's single of 2017!

Posted by: Ryan. Dec 2 2017, 10:16 PM

Interesting show, wasn't expecting the duets being the winner's singles twist!

I would've preferred a solo version of Roots but I think what happened tonight would've got Grace more votes than if she'd done it solo, the tears moment at the end was a massive vote winner I'd imagine. I thought Live and Let Die worked really well actually, allowed Grace to show the strength of her voice (she's more Diana than she is Janet/Abi Alton etc in terms of quirky singers) and meant Simon could get in the strong singer comment. That could mean the Kevin votes will transfer to Grace for the strong singer reason.

I could still see Grace snatching it, all depends on the song choices. If we get reprises of Too Young and Hesitate/Wolves for example versus Rak-Su reprises of Mona Lisa/I'm Feeling You then I think the former will appeal to that final-watching audience. It's definitely closer than the odds would suggest anyway.

Posted by: Liаm Dec 2 2017, 10:20 PM

Yeah that's true, they've done their crowd pleasers although they all sound the same anyway so nobody will know the difference lmao

Posted by: cqmerqn Dec 2 2017, 10:30 PM

Rak-Su *sigh* I wanna like them but I find it a bit eh they performed two originals that we know already. At least with Grace we have only heard Roots in the Audition and that's it.

They got two acts and then a BUNCH of random Justin Beiber dancers on stage - PLUS I honestly think their harmonies were touched up - either a backing track, digital trickery, or back up singer reliance.

I mean, even the running order...the fact they were on 3rd/last and Kevin went on FIRST. A damn mess rotf.gif

Posted by: Liаm Dec 2 2017, 11:46 PM

It is pretty transparent there are GAGGING for Rak-Su to win, and that puts me off them even more laugh.gif They're also just ot that talented, but their songs are catchy enough. Like I've said already, they feel like they'd have 2 hits in 2011 rather than winning X Factor in 2017. Idg why the producers are SO moist for them and are so desperate for them to win laugh.gif Like I bet they scrambled for another songwriting prize when RakSu did't win the first one. I mean I guess it's the money signs because Rak-Su have been selling on iTunes, but there's a difference between taking off because 5 million are watching and having actual hits later.

This has been pretty much the most obvious series ever, I thought from the start Rak-Su or Grace would win. Kevin came as a bit of a surprise but after Smooth he was obviously a contender. I guess Cutkelvins lasted a bit longer than I thought but other than that I could pretty much call how thing went. I'm not expecting it to be anthng different tomorrow so Rak-Su will win. Yet again an interesting female act with artistry loses out to the generic male option (Rebecca, Saara, Fleur).

Posted by: jase. Dec 2 2017, 11:48 PM

I mean...when Rat-Su had finished performing and Louis was standing with his arm around Sharon, looking like they were in awe. It's like...you ain't just watched Bey and Alex finish 'Listen'. Serious second-hand embarrassment laugh.gif

Just a dreadful, dreadful series. Outside of Grace and Kevin, the talent has been pretty dire. The changes to the format (getting rid of deadlock/getting rid of more than one contestant/the whole contestants getting prizes THING) have been brutal, and its just been a bit all over the place - bootcamp felt like it went on for MONTHS.

I'll always watch it because I love music but they really need to give the show a rest for a few years imo.

Yeah right that's what gets me too laugh.gif Like fair enough enjoy it, but they go on like they've just seen Whitney perform at her peak when it's just a bunch of ladz rapping a song most people could perform.

Agree about the series as a whole though, but I don't think it was necessarily the talent as I enjoyed Lloyd, Holly, Rai-Elle, Cutkelvins, Talia and Tracey, it was just the format really killing it for me. Like Talia was ousted on one awful song choice because they rushed it so much, and then for others like Rai-Elle or Lloyd I feel they could have built up momentum to challenge for the win in a normal series (a la Saara) but it wasn't long enough for them to do that. Everything abut the format was just wrong imo, it's a nice idea having Saturday and Sunday filled with something to watch but when it's done so awfully it doesn't matter a jot. I much preferred the intensity of the results being the next day with the drama of the sing off. It kind of felt like the Voice to me, rushed with not a lot of chance to really care about anyone which is probably why the obvious top 2 have sailed through the whole time.

I did like the focus on original songs though even if Rak-Su's all sound the same laugh.gif That sets it apart from say The Voice which feels like a karaoke competition, but realistically the F contestants barely have much more chance at getting a hit than The Voice winner does :')

Rak-Su's backing track will no doubt be at maximum volume tomorrow, complete with 500 dancers, celebrity endorsements and a close up of Simon crying euphoric tears.

They will be dusting off the Big Bird costume for Grace again. I expect she will still win though-really don't think the "older generation" vote that is out in force on final night will be going for Rak-Su no matter how much Simon wants it. They only won the prize fight once despite maximum hype and closing the show every week after all.

But they're all watching Strictly! laugh.gif

I BET that Big Bird costume comes back. It has been SO manipulated from the start and a veery obvipus show like Liam said.

The talent was awful - Rae Elle shouldn't have got past the first audition at best.

The format was rushed, dramaless and AWFUL, as were the judgs. They were empty, vacuous, heaping praise on EEEVERYTHING, and yup acting like every other performance was Alex and Beyoncr. Just... no.

That's part of the fun for me, when someone is shite and Simon comes up with awful ways to slate them. It just reminds me of the Voice again where they're all OTT positive and constructive, barely daring to say when someone was bad. At best this year we've got really feeble comments like "that wasn't your best" "the song choice was wrong", and like I said for me the judges comments and how far they went with it being bad was part of the fun for me. I know it's light Saturday entertainment, but so is Strictly and the judges will say when someone goes wrong, you have Craig being scathing for example. The judges actually felt redundant this series at many points, with the top 2 writing their own songs mostly anyway, and the fact they don't get to vote on sing-offs, pretty much giving the same generic comments all series only adds to that.

I know there was always moaning hat they had TOO much input and we didn't decide who goes home, but I'd so gladly take that and the drama it brings over the limp format we have this series.

PREACH!!

They felt completely redundant, with vacuous comments and not much else to them :/ If everything is great, then what are they even 'judging'? And if they're not voting, then what are they doing? Producers choose the songs, etc. It just felt like they were there to inteoduce the acts and praise them and talk t them for 5 minues during the week. Dermot could do all that!

All caught up now and it's a shame that Kevin is out as I think he's really talented, but this wasn't his strongest night, as much as I really like Tokio as well sad.gif rooting for Rak-Su out of this top 2 as their 'Dimelo' performance was my highlight of the night *.*

Jesus wept, an average of 4.44 million viewers watched this final rotf.gif Strictly got a peak of 10.5 million and average of 9.7 million.

Posted by: BrookeOlivia Dec 3 2017, 03:48 PM

That is AWFUL, I expect they will get more tonight though. Remember the days x factor used to get over 10 million watching the final. rolleyes.gif

Posted by: Liаm Dec 3 2017, 03:50 PM

It's still clashing with Strictly, so ofc being the actual final compared to just results of Strictly it'll get more but I expect Strictly to just batter it again laugh.gif

Posted by: BrookeOlivia Dec 3 2017, 03:53 PM

Course Liam, That goes without saying! laugh.gif I mean x-factor will get more viewers than 4.4 million tonight. Given Little Mix etc are on.

Rak-Su will win tonight but I'd prefer Grace now that My fave Kavin has gone.

Posted by: ChRiMbO LeG PiPe Dec 3 2017, 04:11 PM

I rewatched the parts that would be ikonek if more people watched them

- yup, y'all were right, 2nd hand embarrassment at them gaping at Rak Su with arms around each oher. Umm they just did a rap backed up by studio backing vocals tuned ALLL THE WAY UP.

- Matt looking awkward and like he wanted nothinf more to do with the show

- Holly being bitter and jealous of Grace lol

- Luis Tomlinson's 'singing' and Cowell rebellion

- The BLATANT manipulation for Rak Su with two guests and a thousand backing dancers. Just utterly laughable!

A banger from Grace *.*

Little Mix always wearing the same sexy clothes. laugh.gif Just hope there's a big boost for Reggaeton Lento. I wish they had sung a new song, I'm so tired of Power now.

I think this Rak-Su song (Touche) is my fave of theirs, very good. tongue.gif

Posted by: Liаm Dec 3 2017, 07:48 PM

That was their worst original, SO basic and generic

Posted by: D0bz Dec 3 2017, 07:49 PM

That was another good'un, even if it sounded identical to the backing track for Dimelo.

Posted by: Jonjo Dec 3 2017, 07:50 PM

Grace's song was good, but Rak-Su's, as basic as it's structure was, was better. That hook (although it makes no sense :')) is catchy af!! The catchiest and most melodic they've done yet.

Posted by: Liаm Dec 3 2017, 07:53 PM

It's ridiculous how desperate they are for Rak-Su to win laugh.gif They're hyping them up for writing their own songs as if Grace didn't just do the EXACT same thing just with actua lyrics that make sense.

I'm feeling like Grace maybe won last night or at least came close and they're worried.

I think it's more so due to most UK TV platforms being unable to accomodate her big performances really. The only shows that could possibly do that would be the BRIT awards and Britain's Got Talent I think.

I just think Grace stole the show tonight, her performance of Too Young was just amazing wub.gif the lyrics just give a meaning. Where Rat-Sauce just spout out rubbish week on week.

What I've learned from this show, winners never do well, runners up usually do well chart wise, so in a way I just hope Grace doesn't win it. I'm in favour of Grace winning it though.

Personally I like to see both tracks released as singles, to see who fares better in the charts, as I would love for Grace to release Too Young as a single.

Yeah true, it'll prob be best for both acts if Rak-Su win though as Grace will have more autonomy and Rak-Su will likely be horribly mismanaged anyway. I expect they'll manage a slightly longer career than Matt Terry's is looking like at least.

Posted by: Rooney Dec 3 2017, 08:45 PM

The runners up doing better than the winners on X Factor is a bit of a myth I mean off the top of my head it happened twice - Olly Murs & JLS. Alexandra was pretty successful and unfortunately for Joe I don't think they knew what to do with him (oh and he already had to live with the embarrassment of losing the Xmas number 1!). One Direction came 3rd.

They haven't been able to produce a star on the show for a while, I don't know if they ever will to be fair. Both Grace and Rak-Su I can see having one decent hit and then fading away.

I feel they got it good getting acts to perform their original songs, but I think they need to expand on the live shows again and make them more fun.

Louis can take his leave too. I'll never forget his "YOU ARE REAL HUMAN BEINGS!" critique. Just atrocious.

Posted by: D0bz Dec 3 2017, 08:57 PM

I actually liked the format of this series. Much better having full shows on the Saturday & Sunday rather than an hour of irrelevant crap on the Sunday. Also liked how the Lives didn't drag on forever. They definitely DO need to scrap the prize fight though, not here for that.

Posted by: gooddelta Dec 3 2017, 08:57 PM

Despite all the flaws of the show this year, and the fact that I prefer and voted for Grace, I do think Rak-Su will do well, at least in comparison to all of the other winners post-James Arthur. Dimelo is relevant, bang on the latino trend and actually feels like it might be a chart hit without the show. Be interesting to see how it performs on Spotify and whether it can manage more than 2 or 3 weeks on the chart.

Posted by: Liаm Dec 3 2017, 09:00 PM

Yeah definitely need it back to how it was, but with original songs allowed as well. I mean they let Lucy Spraggan do it, if they just keep to mostly more wide themes like the love and Express Yourself ones from this year then original songs can easily fit, most good songwriters could fit their songs to wide themes like that. It just didn't feel like an event at all, it's just here and gone when they only have a few live shows. I much prefer the drama and tension of the Sunday results show even if having the whole hour for it drags a bit. Everything just felt flat for me from the judges comments to the guests a lot of the time to the results and the hideous Prize Fight thing.

The show began to die when Simon left to flag the USA series. Since then it's just been trying new things to bring viewers back, but I think it just needed to go back to basics - no stupid twists etc. That said while I liked the Saturday/Sunday format it just felt like the series was over before it even began.

It does possibly seem they have found a way to get over the 'mum' vote at least.

Posted by: ChRiMbO LeG PiPe Dec 3 2017, 09:01 PM

Urgh, of course.

They really pushed for it, and Fix Factor got it.

At least now Roots won't have Paloma Faith tagged onto it!!

As much as I wanted Grace to win, you really can't begrudge Rak-Su. They were remarkably consistent throughout and produced bops week after week. Dimelo is a massive tune and I'm hyped to download it, so refreshing as a winning single! I'm confident Simon will sign Grace anyway and we'll have a single at the very least from her by this time next year.

Surprised Rak-Su benefitted from Kevin!

No surprises there in the stats really, such a boring predictable series laugh.gif

Justice to see Rak-Su winning. Won my bet from the first live show.

Surprised Holly came 2nd in the first vote off.

Anyway, closer than I thought tbh!

Really pleased that Rak-Su took the crown! It's quite refreshing to have an X Factor winner's single of this ilk, 'Dimelo' has barely left my head since yesterday.

Am I the only one who feels like guest performances should be scrapped from the X Factor? I tune in to watch new up and coming musicians perform, not musicians who are established already, if I want to see those people perform I will search for their videos on YouTube. It just feels like they are trying to force certain musicians upon the audience. During tonight's grand final I purposely took a toilet break when P!nk & Little Mix were on stage and it was only because I was in the middle of having my dinner that I didn't manage to dodge Sam Smith's performance.

I agree - I have skipped every single last guest performer.

It's hardly forcing just because you don't like them laugh.gif Pink, Little Mix and as much as I despise him Sam Smith are three of the biggest acts in the world, why wuld they not book them? Especiall Little Mix being one of the sow's biggest success stories. Plus how else are they going to fill the time counting results etc? The big names like that are the ones bringing viewers in as well, I'm sure a lot of people who were uming and ahhing about whether to watch watched for them, and perhaps people who otherwise wouldn't watch at all. Its nonsensical to scrap guests laugh.gif

It's not even a case of liking or not liking the performers. To me it just feels like waste of time having guests perform and always has done throughout the years of X Factor/Britain's Got Talent. It's not as if they have to spend half an hour counting the votes, it's only 5 minutes plus an advert break most of the time. They could spend that time interviewing the contestants instead rather than recycling the same shit every year.

How is having the current biggest artists performing their current singles "recycling the same shit"? I don't understand this view at all.

With our lack of music shows nowadays, I look forward to some of the guest performances as they're the only chance we get to see some artists do huge performances of big tracks. Some of the X Factor guest performances have turned out to be some of my favourite ever, like Leona's Run for example.

It's certainly far more interesting than listening to another dull interview with contestants where they tell us how amazing the experience is and how grateful they are for the millionth time.

Having the same artists coming back year after year is recycling the same shit to me. At least if there must be guest performances why not have new artists who have never performed on the show before appear. That's why I didn't think it was a bad decision to have Simon Cowell's band PrettyMuch perform on the show because they are still trying to make a name for themselves unlike the other artists who are already well established.

Established artists get the show viewers though... in theory anyway, I believe this has been the lowest rated final in XF history but could've been worse if they didn't have Little Mix/P!nk/Sam Smith on.
