Yeah this is pretty bad laugh.gif

I think Close To Me was the right amount of her with a Spotify kind of sound so it was an obvious hit, but this is too far into that sad.gif

I don't think it's so bad but I think that's more because I was anticipating something much worse.

I really like this! Ellie's surprising me with this and Close to Me, not a huge fan of Flux though.

Like the Pink song released this week, devoid of all personality and just trend chasing for a hit. I don't think the public will fall for it either really, a shame.

Yeah I listened to the P!nk song and felt the same actually. Both songs are quite poor.

Ellie hasn't really been good since her Halycon days.... which was some time ago now

I'll always defend Delirium as being a really solid album tbh, it had some cracking songs on it (and I don't even think On My Mind was a disastrous lead, it did well! They should have capitalised on Something in the Way You Move right after though). The only problem really was that it was overly long with little quality control. Narrow it down to a 12 track album, 14 or 15 with a deluxe if necessary, and you've got a much tighter, more solid album there.

'Something In The Way You Move' along with 'Walking On Air' is one of the most missed single opportunities ever sad.gif.

Sinwym is the best Ellie song. It’s a shame the release was such a mess and it wasn’t pushed proper in the UK despite having two music videos!

Any other songs released within the past year that make some quirky reference to past times?

Off the top of my head I can think of 2002, 1999 and how Sixteen. Have there been anymore released with a similar theme over the past 12-18 months? Maybe slightly less subtle that these three examples if you know any?

That's an interesting point actually, a certain person did go on and on about how '1999' was supposedly "basic" for being "just another nostalgia song".

Whilst not a hit at all, Ladies In The 90's by Lauren Alaina came out a few months ago and also follows a similar theme

I'm already obsessed with this, Ellie is on fire for me right now ❤️

P!nks song with Cash Cash (also out today) references throughout the song being 23 (or some age like that).

A new Fad... 1999 slays all though

Yeah I caught that on Pink’s track, which is what got me thinking. Anymore examples of recent tracks?

Be interesting to see if this continues, surely not just a coincidence.

Apparently this song was made in 2017, which would make sense considering chopped vocals were the ‘in sound’ back then.
