Over the next few months we are counting down the top 1000 songs from the 2000s rated by Spotify listeners as of last night.
Here's a selection of the artists you can expect to see a fair bit of: 50 Cent Akon Amy Winehouse Beyoncé Black Eyed Peas Britney Spears Coldplay Eminem Kanye West Linkin Park My Chemical Romance Nickelback Paramore Rihanna Shakira System Of A Down With thanks to our sponsor Kworb I've done my best to filter out anything not from the 00s but the list may include some inaccuracies  We start off with a handful of songs I've never heard of!! |

A long while before we get to her top entry. This one doesn't do anything for me though. #998 Charlie Brown Jr. - Ela Vai Voltar (Todos Os Defeitos De Uma Mulher Perfeita) Spotify streams: 167m Year: 2005 UK Chart: DNC Brazilian rock rap anyone? #997 Alexis y Fido - 5 Letras Spotify streams: 168m Year: 2007 UK Chart: DNC A bit of reggaeton and I suspect there'll be a bit more of that to come #996 Aleks Syntek - Duele El Amor Spotify streams: 168m Year: 2003 UK Chart: DNC Mexican pop duet which was his biggest hit. Spotify streams: 168m Year: 2007 UK Chart: {30}-60->2 Radiohead's 'In Rainbows' album has surprisingly strong streaming and this is the first of two from it in the countdown. Hadn't heard this one before but I can see how it's a fanbase favourite, it's fairly interesting. #993 Céline Dion - I'm Alive Spotify streams: 168m Year: 2002 UK Chart: {17}-26-28-40-55-69->6 A bit more upbeat than you'd expect from a Celine Dion song which probably helped it here. #992 Wisin & Yandel - Besos Mojados Spotify streams: 169m Year: 2009 UK Chart: DNC Reggaeton klaxon. Buzzjack may prefer the 2022 sequel featuring Rosalia. #991 The Rasmus - In the Shadows Spotify streams: 169m Year: 2004 UK Chart: {3}-3-5-6-8-10-9-13-19-24-29-32-40-45-59-75->16 A 00s rock classic which I'm pleased has made it onto the list. #990 N.O.R.E. - Oye Mi Canto Spotify streams: 168m Year: 2006 UK Chart: DNC They had a UK hit with "Nothin" however this track ended up being a lot bigger thanks to assistance from Daddy Yankee amongst others. I know 'Besos Mojados2' because I'm hot on the ROSALÍA discography, but not familiar with the part that appears here!
Great to see Radiohead racking up those streams and 'In The Shadows' is a big highlight as well so far

Just posted Rasmus in the 04 thread but I would've expected that to be a tiny bit higher here ngl.
Like 'I'm Alive' too. Also liked the lead single before it 'That's The Way It Is'! |

Oh Jigsaw Falling Into Place was one I certainly streamed much at the time. From a great album too, and I saw the band perform it live in Manchester that year too!
 Can’t deny a great anthem from The Rasmus, but none of the others revealed so far are noteworthy for me. |

Great thread to follow, thanks for doing this Dan.
Agree it's pretty low for The Rasmus! Intriguing to see all these Mexican and Reggaeton hits here. Quite nice to know there's an audience for these in the UK even if they never do enough on a weekly basis to touch the chart. |

Erm... I don't know her.
Except for Beyonce which is panifully mid, Radiohead which is pretty great and i'm glad managed to make the cut and The Rasmus which is an absolute bop and my highlight s far. |

Interested to see how this plays out! Obviously Spotify didn’t take off massively until the early-mid 2010s so almost if not all of these will be predated listens. Which 2000s songs have lasted the longest / feature mostly in throwbacks playlists

Spotify streams: 168m Year: 2006 UK Chart: DNC Nu-metal band who were fairly popular in America, quite a decent rock ballad on a first listen through. #988 Brooks & Dunn - Red Dirt Road Spotify streams: 169m Year: 2003 UK Chart: DNC Yes we will see a bit of country popping up in the list, thanks America. #987 The Wombats - Let's Dance to Joy Division Spotify streams: 169m Year: 2007 UK Chart: 35-{15}-22-32-30-50-72-68R(8)-54-62->10 The breakthrough album for Aussie band The Wombats gave them three big streaming hits, this being their biggest. Two actual Joy Division songs have greater streaming numbers for anyone wondering. #986 Uncle Kracker - Drift Away Spotify streams: 170m Year: 2002 UK Chart: DNC This guy was a UK one hit wonder but had multiple other American hits, this one a bit too country for the UK clearly. #985 Akon - Sorry, Blame It On Me Spotify streams: 168m Year: 2007 UK Chart: 74-40-31-29-31-23-28-35-{22}-29-35-48-60->13 Never apologised for this song being mid. |
