The Veronicas have revealed that they are back in the studio and have teamed up with American singer-songwriter Suzi Quatro for their third studio album.
The Untouched duo, made up of twin sisters Jess and Lisa Origliasso, confirmed that they have started work on the follow-up to Hook Me Up.

"We've been experimenting with a lot of different sounds for this next record," Jess told the Daily Star.
"We've also been doing some writing collaborations with the amazing Suzi Quatro."

Quatro rose to fame in 1973 with 'Can The Can' and has since released 15 studio albums.
The Veronicas previously revealed that they are eager to work with Marilyn Manson in the future.

They tweeted back in October they had began the process of creating their third album. It is due to be released sometime this Year.
At Christmas they performed a Song via their YouTube which is rumored to be on the Album...

They've also started performing a song called 'Victim' on their Tour, also set for record.

Jess added: "We've also been doing some writing collaborations as well with Erinn and Matt from Streamer Bendy, and also the amazing Suzi Quatro."

Only heard of Peaches but I'm sure they'll pull off some great tracks after collaborating and researching for the Album.
Hopefully it'll be released sooner rather than later this Year... they seem keen to get it out though biggrin.gif.

Ladytron wub.gif Expect an electro influence. Sounds good to me... And Suzi Quatro is an absolute legend, the Diana Vickers of the 70s kink.gif

Ah well, at least it won't be a rushed job.

Posted by: Gramii 8th June 2010, 09:16 PM

Their first album was fantastic! I loved the evolution in sound with 'Hook Me Up' but it wasn't as consistant as their debut despite some pretty damkn impressive tracks. Im really looking forward to hearing what they come up with this time round.

First I would like to thank you for agreeing to this interview! biggrin.gif Following you both on Twitter it’s obvious that you are having a great time writing this album.

Thank You for your incredible patience while we’ve been growing and transforming wink.gif
I should warn you, We are doing this interview in our pajamas……… at 5:12 PM in the afternoon……….

Q. Who is the coolest person you have had a chance to hang out with while writing the album? Feel free to name drop wink.gif

We have been rather experimentative from the beginning of this record, in forming creative relationships with different people. Some people we’ve worked with before, such as Toby Gad (who we wrote untouched with), to collaborating with new producers such as Fernando Garibay (New Lady Gaga), and one of our Favourite songwriter/producers Gary Clarke (Natalie Imbruglia, Liz Phair). Upon meeting Gary, we instantly formed a musical kinship that has lead to the three of us writing a majority of songs for this record together.
We have worked with Artist friends of ours for sonic perspectives, and inspiration as well, such as Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), Butch Vig, Tyler Bryant, Illsey Juber & Alison Porter (The Canyons). Just getting in a room, and jamming ideas has been a beautifully inspiring, and important process to this creating of this record.

In the POP world, music style/sonic’s have become so over saturated with ever changing/borrowing/stealing/whoring of the same sounds..we as the listener become confused and desensitized to who is who, and what is coming from the Artist, and what is coming from the guidelines of the industry.
We wanted to make sure what we were creating felt grounded in our identity as The Veronicas, even while working with some producers that seem to have a hand in everyone’s pie right now. We have been focusing on pushing them out of that box, while appreciating their POP sensibility and success, which in turn has help to push us to places we’ve never been.

Q. Will the album be released at the same time on iTunes & hard copy all around the world?
As much as we would like to have control over decisions such as that, most of it falls under what we call ‘music politics’. But in Veronicas dreamland, we would hope so wink.gif

We have changed management since the last record, & the all the people we’ve worked with at our Label Warner Brothers have completely changed as well. It has been the main contributor as to why this record is taking 4 times as long to come out as the last one. We are working closely now with all new people, and we are feeling good about this release being simultaneous all around the world.

Q. Have you chosen the first single off the new record yet? And if you have, can you give us any hints or clues about it?

There is a lot of talk about which song should be a first single. We don’t have a definitive decision on that just yet.
All we can tell you is that the Sonic and Lyrical direction of this record is a Dramatisation of our emotions/ Visual Art/ Musical influence/ reflections on society, and the world around us. The conceptual message, looking at the body of work thus far, seems to scream Mirror. A mirror of us, our experiences, our lovers, our enemies, our idols, our gods. Finding ourselves in the strangest of places, some we would never expect, or even want.

I think we’ve really found ourselves in the process of this record. I know for sure that we aren’t the same woman who made the last record. We have fallen into ourselves, Fallen in love, out of love, fallen, and got back up.. we are ready to claim our creations with a new energy & a new light.

Q. Do you girls ever disagree on who will sing certain parts of a song? and if you do disagree… how do you resolve the problem?

Haha, YES! .. by now we know eachothers voices well enough to know who should sing what.. But we still experiment. It also depends on the song. Some feel more Personal to one of us. We don’t feel it has to be ‘even’ all the time.
Sometimes we just yell and scream until one of us gets our way wink.gif

Q. How many songs do you expect to have on the album?

We are thinking about 10 songs for the New Record.

We are also working on a new side project together, which we can’t say too much about just yet.. but its going to be a departure from what we do in The Veronicas.

Q. Are you more excited to release this album than previous ones?

We feel a different kind of ownership, and attachment to this record definitely.
We are incredibly proud of the way the last two records have ‘grown us up’ in a strange sense. The process, and touring, the chance to express ourselves through our innocence and learning. But this record is our coming into what we really dreamed for The Veronicas. We know what we’re doing now.. We enjoyed the ride from the past records, but this time we’re taking the drivers seat.

Here’s a coupe that aren’t about the new record smile.gif

Q. What’s your favorite item in your wardrobe at the moment?

Jessica: To be honest i’ve been on an Anti Fashion movement for the past few weeks. I refuse to wear anything other than my pajamas…. that I stole from Lisa. Also a top hat i’ve adopted, also stolen from Miss Lisa Marie.

Lisa: I’ve fallen in love with the late 60′s and 70′s rock era of fashion lately, and adopted a black felt 1960′s vintage hat of Jessicas (Which I’ve conveniently ‘forgetton’ to give back) wink.gif and beaded multi-colored gypsy earrings.

Q. What’s the coolest thing you’ve done in the past month?

Jessica: Billy.

Lisa: Being invited to go to Fashion week in New York City was definitely a high light this month for me.

Again, thank you so much for agreeing to do this!

Ebony, thank you, and all the lovers, for your on going support, and patience. We can promise it will be well worth it. Every part of this new record is coming from us, including the art work, to the Video concepts, films, videos etc. Its you guys that inspire us to do our best.

Posted by: Joao.Kills 21st August 2011, 05:35 PM

THE Veronicas have finally given fans a taste of their long-awaited third record during a sold-out show at famed Los Angeles club, the Viper Room.

Joel Edgerton was among the gumleaf mafia cheering the Origliasso twins on as they unveiled an edgier rock sound on Cold, Let Me Out and Baby I'm Ready, as well as a killer version of Nancy Sinatra's Bang Bang.

Jess and Lisa revealed that British hitmaker Nellee Hooper, whose resume includes Massive Attack, Madonna and U2, has been producing tracks for the record.

Jess's mate and Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has also been a sounding board.

"Obviously we've been hanging out with Billy," Jess said.

"He's making a new record with the Pumpkins now and we send him stuff all the time for feedback and advice. He's a fairly tough critic but we're our harshest critics anyway.

"He's such a cool guy."

The Veronicas plan to have a new single out in Australia before the end of the year with the record due to be released in early 2012.

The girls play another sold-out Viper Room gig on Thursday and are keen to repeat their success when they come home to Australia.

It's been so long and I've totally overplayed everything from both of their album eras now. I'm excited but if/when they release it over here it'll be like starting over again as it's been 3 years since 'Untouched' now.

Still, I know it'll be brilliant as they can do no wrong.

Posted by: Umi 26th July 2012, 07:50 PM

The plinky plonky bits at the start and during the verses remind me so much of Lights. I feel oddly proud that I can say someone is possibly ripping off Ellie. Anyway, not a big fan of the song. It's really generic which in itself isn't bad but it's generic done badly. Can't they go back to making stuff like Untouched? sad.gif

Posted by: Jonjo 27th July 2012, 01:04 AM

It's very good. Really catchy and very them. I like how they've updated their sound a bit. It's generic, yes. But it's one of the better generic songs.

The underlying bassline reminds me so much of Lights by Ellie Goulding, especially when it's slightly distorted in the Bassnectar remix!

Really really good stuff anyway, I didn't have amazing excitement for this but I just thought I'd listen and I'm glad I did. If the album is anything like this count me in!

Posted by: mr_aly 23rd October 2014, 11:26 PM

I couldn't find a topic about the album, but I thought I'd create one as we now have a lot of information about it.

It's up for pre-order in Aus and released on November 21st there, there will be news for other territories coming tomorrow. It's a self titled album, and here is the cheaptastic and bland cover:

People in Aus who pre-order get a track called 'Line Of Fire' as an instant grat, which can be heard http://www.josepvinaixa.com/blog/the-veronica-the-veronicas-line-of-fire/

There are 14 tracks on the standard edition, there will be a deluxe with more tracks.

I can't believe this is happening, after all these years! 'Line Of Fire' is also ACE! cheer.gif

Posted by: Ryan. 25th October 2014, 04:03 PM

There was a topic so I've merged it. biggrin.gif Very interested to hear this album as 'You Ruin Me' was an unexpected but wonderful surprise!

Posted by: gooddelta 25th October 2014, 04:16 PM

Excited to hear this, the album cover picture isn't too bad but that logo is rather ugly.

Posted by: Neil 26th October 2014, 08:23 AM

Line of Fire is my everything right now.

Only skimmed through. Sounds solid.

Posted by: gooddelta 17th November 2014, 03:09 PM

The album is very 'classic Veronicas' on first listen, especially the fantastic Born Bob Dylan. Good to see they haven't deviated from their sound too much.

Love the weird chord progressions in Always too, reminds me of South African duo The Arrows.

Posted by: HonkyBonkington 17th November 2014, 04:30 PM

So I gave the album a listen after being so impressed by YRM & IYLS and it's a brilliant album overall. Track 1 started off promising but then I didn't think it went anywhere hence not liking it but I've loved every other track. Currently up to "More Like Me" and it's sounding gorgeous! Mad Love, Born Bob Dylan & Teenage Millionaire are my other highlights so far.
The last few at the end kinda got boring though.
Good job girls!

Posted by: mr_aly 22nd November 2014, 12:51 AM

I just gave this album a listen in full, I'm satisfied with it after one listen! I thought that it didn't have their grit/spunk/angst/whatever but the second half really picked up for me, to be honest I love the whole album after one listen except 'Sanctified' and 'Teenage Millionaire', but I trust they will grow on me (even if 'Sanctified' sounded like a complete mess).

'Cold' is absolutely amazing, and 'Let Me Out' is as perfect as ballads come. wub.gif Other highlights (bar the two singles) are 'Cruel', 'Born Bob Dylan' and 'Mad Love'.

Posted by: Riser 1st December 2014, 05:11 AM

The album has debuted at #2 in Australia, matching the peak of the Veronicas' other albums. It also reached gold certification in its first week which is a terrific start!

Posted by: mr_aly 19th January 2015, 09:21 PM

It's Heaven, which is a concert venue during the week and G-A-Y at weekends.

Posted by: gooddelta 19th January 2015, 09:35 PM

I feel so proud that they're doing a Brighton gig. Back in 2005 I was probably the only person in the whole city that had heard of them! Love Concorde 2 as well, would have loved to have seen them there but I'll be in London at the time.

Posted by: gooddelta 12th March 2015, 10:09 AM

They were absolutely brilliant live, gah!

There was an amazing acoustic section, including a ballad version of Everything I'm Not, which was glorious <3

You Ruin Me, 4Ever, Untouched and If You Love Someone were all highlights. Amazingly they performed Lolita too, I thought they'd disowned the song!

Posted by: mr_aly 12th March 2015, 02:38 PM

Agh, I so would have gone if it was a more convenient day! drama.gif They're so incredible live aren't they?

At least I can finally buy the album next week, only waited years for this.

Posted by: Jonjo 17th March 2015, 02:58 PM

Just giving this album it's first spin now!

Only on 'Cruel' now, but I'm liking the first three tracks, a lot. 'Did You Miss Me (I'm A Veronica)' is great and 'Cruel' is a brilliant single choice. I think this should have actually been the second single!

---

EDIT: This album is very P!nk, isn't it? wub.gif (I know they've always been very similar artists anyway, but this album in partcular, especially the final track 'You And Me')
