King, the breakout single from Years and Years, is released this Sunday.
The song has been inside the top 100 on UK iTunes for the past three weeks, currently inside the top 50, and according to the sales information that I have alongside the most accurate estimation that I can make must have conjured up pre-orders of >15,000 from these three weeks alone. How much will it sell in its opening week? The poll options are the ones that I see as most plausible. |

Well it looks quite clearly like it'll be #1 so about 107K I think.

I can't add the poll to the post for whatever reasons -- can a mod do this, please?
The options are <50k; 51-74k; 75-99k; 100-124k; >125k. Thanks. |

I'm certain it will sell more than 100k but I'm not sure if it will sell more than 125k. I'd like to think so.

I think it will sell over 100k quite easily, but it will not match Ellie's opening sales week, probably around 120k (ish)

Thanks Martin.
I went for 100-124k myself. Ellie should fall short of 100k even with her streams this week, and I'd imagine she'll be around 80-90k next week at the highest, so 'King' should hit #1 nicely. This post has been edited by MrIndependent: 27th February 2015, 11:26 AM |

Just heard this for the first time, and wasn't impressed - sounds to me like just another samey dance track.
On that basis alone, I can't give it more than 50k This post has been edited by vidcapper: 27th February 2015, 11:32 AM |

I was thinking about the 90-110k range but I'm not sure how it will go streamwise

And if there had been a 'how much do you *want* it to sell' option, I might have picked differently- but there wasn't. That doesn't mean you should vote for what you *want* when it quite clearly is a prediction for what you *think*. The two are totally separate issues. I think #1 with around 120k units! Not too far off the top 40 on iTunes even with the BRITs effect |
