Dexton's Top 40 (20/02/2017) (Week 41)
Finally the JT takeover has passed, with Marshmello & Anne-Marie climb right up to the top with Friends (7-1) along with two other new entries to the Top 5. Filthy falls to #2 after hefty 5-week reign at #1, whilst both Supplies and Say Something featuring Chris Stapleton are out of the top 5. Khalid's Location remix featuring Jorja Smith and Wretch 32 gives Khalid his second highest charting single after Silence, and overall his 4th Top 5 hit - but his first as lead credit. Rudimental crawl up to #4 and Ofenbach vs. Nickwaterhouse's funky Katchi takes another large jump this week up to #5 from #14. Outside the Top 5, not much is happening in the Top 10 with both Dua Lipa's IDGAF (8-8) and Fall Out Boy's Wilson (Expensive Mistakes) (10-10) non-movers. Earning her second Top 20 hit this week is RAYE, who's collaboration with Kojo Funds Check takes a huge jump (30-15). Her previous hit, Decline, previously spent two weeks at #1 - however both were actually in two different years Check looks unlikely to give RAYE another #1, but how far up will it chart? Speaking of two #1's, this week Marshmello joins Camila Cabello in the elite club of "artists with more than one #1 hit" with both Silence and Friends being #1's. Camila's second #1 hit actually leaves the chart this week, Never Be The Same (39-xx), whilst her album remains #2 under Justin Timberlake for yet another week. Before going into albums, we actually have 6 new entries this week coming from the likes of: Cash Cash, The Weeknd & Kendrick Lamar, Noah Kahan & Julia Michaels, Niall Horan, Diplo, and Pink - the highest of which is Cash Cash's Jewel featuring Nikki Vianna at #20. This is Cash Cash's first entry here since All My Love featuring Conor Maynard, peaking at #15. Conor Maynard is yet to re-appear here. Segwaying sort-of into the album commentary despite being a paragraph between my last mention of it: this week of course JT's Man Of The Woods remains at #1. If he can last another week on top (very likely), Justin Timberlake will join Eminem as the only two artists to have hold on to the #1 album for over 3 weeks. Justin has already broken the Dexton chart record for most weeks with a single at #1, so will he beat the record for most weeks with an album at #1 also? We'll see The rest of the album chart is also almost entirely stagnant which is a pretty boring week. Despite there actually being a few new releases last week that I would like to check out (The Wombats in particular) I just haven't had time to listen through any albums Pink's Beautiful Trauma however climbs back up to #7 for a total of 7 weeks on my chart, boosted slightly by Secrets entering my chart. Hello Dexton!
I'm happy to see "Friends" at #1 and the big gains for "Location" and "Katchi" in the top 5, in fact it's a strong top 5! Great debuts for Cash Cash, The Weeknd/Kendrick and Niall Horan! And nice album chart too! Great chart overall! |

Hi Dexton!
Great Number 1, I'm really enjoying her return to form with this, and it looks like it's going to be a Top 10 hit officially too which is great My favourite new entry is Niall Horan's 'On The Loose' - definitely the best choice of single as it's the only really decent track left on the album that wasn't a single. I haven't heard the new version yet though, is it much different? The Weeknd/Kendrick collab is also decent, I can see that hanging around the charts for a while. Have you charted 'Secrets' as a random album track, or has she actually announced it as the next single? Great stuff as always |

Hi Dexton!
I'm really torn about FRIENDS, I quite like the tune but there's way too much swearing for me Katchi soaring up the charts! Hope it can keep climbing for you, it dropped 20 places for me this week oops New Cash Cash out also Will need to give that a listen! Great chart |

I'm really loving Friends right now Anne-Marie has the potential to become one of my favourite female artists right now, although Heavy and Then weren't my thing The new version of On The Loose as far as I'm aware is just shorter Skips a lot of the instrumental but doesn't take much away from the track, I've already played it more than I did on the album Secrets is just a random album track right now It should 100% be the next single and I think it is likely it could be, but I'm really loving it right now so I can't wait for it to get an actual release Thanks for commenting! I don't mind the swearing I really like the beeping towards the end too, despite it being unnecessary and a bit weird I actually love that part Katchi is looking at another big jump next week too Jewel is a bit generic but I have such a soft spot for Cash Cash that I can overlook that and actually really really like this single More than All My Love tbh which I kinda got bored of quickly Thanks for commenting! |
