Just saw this, fantastic to see Gaga confirmed and so excited for her performance wub.gif wub.gif

Posted by: HausofTroye 19th January 2016, 09:51 PM

OMG!!

Posted by: HausofTroye 19th January 2016, 09:52 PM

DOES THIS MEAN NEW MUSIC?????? My initial reaction was that it does... but that promo shot is quite Cheek to Cheek? and it seems too soon for new music...

EITHER WAY cannot wait wub.gif

Posted by: princess_lotti 19th January 2016, 09:52 PM

IMAGINE IF SHE SINGS SOMETHING NEW

Posted by: HausofTroye 19th January 2016, 09:57 PM

The rumours are that she is doing a tribute to David Bowie! ohmy.gif

Although a new song/performance would be my definite first option, i'd much prefer this then any C2C stuff, oops~

A tribute isn't as bad as the Cheek to Cheek stuff I suppose. Really bored of that era so I hope she has moved on from it.

That looks incredible! The 'living dress' from the Monster Ball was a massive favourite of mine (and that performance of 'So Happy I Could Die' <3), but this is even better than that ohmy.gif Make it happen please <3

A really classy Bowie tribute could give her even more momentum (much like her Oscars performance did) heading into the next album era. Here for it! wub.gif

It's now been confirmed we'll be seeing an "experimental" Bowie tribute from Gaga!

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/news/lady-gaga-performing-david-bowie-tribute-at-the-grammys-2016-a6848876.html

QUOTE
The organisers have revealed that they decided to induct Gaga into their planned tribute, described as 'experimental', almost immediately.

"We had already booked Lady Gaga on this year's show, but when David passed, almost in a single moment, we knew we had to change direction," said executive producer Ken Ehrlich.

"We immediately spoke and agreed that she should be the one to honour David; she's perfect for it."

She is REALLY trying to be the next Bowie so makes sense.

She should stick to being next Madonna tbh.

Posted by: princess_lotti 2nd February 2016, 05:10 PM

I think Gaga is one of the most fitting artists to do a Bowie tribute, and whilst I would've loved for her to do something new, I'm sure she'll do an absolutely stunning performance.

Posted by: Mackenzie 2nd February 2016, 05:19 PM

I'd rather she try and be the 'next' Bowie than Madonna (not that she's trying to be anyone but herself to be frank) because Bowie vs. Madonna rotf.gif there's only one clear winner and that winner doesn't have Girl Gone Wild in their discography

Posted by: Cody Lightwood 2nd February 2016, 08:02 PM

Gaga's perfect for a tribute to ANYTHING.

What is happening??

Posted by: princess_lotti 13th February 2016, 09:07 PM

I'm not too sure if anything further than the collab has been confirmed, but I've seen speculations such as a special outfit (such as the butterfly example I linked earlier ohmy.gif ) Or maybe it will be during her performance?? cheer.gif

Posted by: princess_lotti 14th February 2016, 04:29 PM

I think I might host a live watching of the Grammys tomorrow on rabb.it if I can find a link, will post more details tomorrow biggrin.gif

FLOP FAN mad.gif (lol I am in bed by 10pm most nights so certainly not doing that either).

Good to hear it's on TV tomorrow, setting it for record already ~

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 15th February 2016, 05:08 PM

Yeah there's no way I'm staying up that late! Might record it and watch on 4Music though, thanks for that info Lotti wub.gif

Posted by: liamk97 15th February 2016, 05:10 PM

Surely it would be more likely for you to get up at 4am than stay awake for 4am? laugh.gif

Posted by: princess_lotti 15th February 2016, 05:10 PM

laugh.gif probably, but that would involve going to bed at a sensible time! kink.gif

Posted by: Regina 15th February 2016, 05:13 PM

Do y'all not have school/college?

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 15th February 2016, 05:21 PM

Half Term this week for me!

I would have maybe stayed up/woken up for it, but I'm planning to have an earlylish night as having a massive movie day tomorrow!

Posted by: Regina 15th February 2016, 05:29 PM

We had that last week ohmy.gif

Posted by: princess_lotti 16th February 2016, 08:48 AM

Okay so the Intel collab was during her performance! wub.gif

Absolutely stunning! Completely mesmerising performance! Such a lovely tribute <3

And here is her red carpet look ohmy.gif Those shoes though

Posted by: Joe. 16th February 2016, 08:51 AM

I wanted to like it, but it sounded off to me sad.gif

Bowie's son's shade about the performance was totally uncalled for though.

Posted by: princess_lotti 16th February 2016, 08:55 AM

I haven't seen that sad.gif What did he say?

edit: just seen this article commented on the performance. v good read http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/02/15/lady-gaga-s-perfect-david-bowie-tribute.html

^ ouch. The performance was always going to divide opinions but doing a bit of internet browsing and it's actually getting a much more positive response to what I would have imagined before seeing the performance.

I don't know, I assumed people would just terminally roll their eyes at her doing the tribute but this is really good to see.

I really enjoyed most of the performance. I think the opening 'Space Oddity' montage was the best bit and I would've liked more of that technology/human interaction like was teased with the Intel collaboration. I think she did 'Fame' and 'Fashion' the most justice (surprise, surprise, the two songs that are quintessentially GAGA and really inspired her debut era) but on the whole she was very electric and possessed such energy and enthusiasm. Few popstars could pull off such a high-octane 7 minute performance with a multitude of different songs as well as she did!

Posted by: liamk97 16th February 2016, 12:53 PM

Well I was in awe all the way through the performance. wub.gif You can tell how much of an influence Bowie has on Gaga, particularly in regards to 'Fame' and 'Fashion' as you said Bal. Was hoping for 'Starman' to appear after 'Heroes' but that's my only criticism.

With this and the National Anthem at the Super Bowl, Gaga has really set the bar high for a spectacular return to pop music this year. *.*

Posted by: Davidson 16th February 2016, 01:21 PM

i love Gaga and she hasn't put a foot wrong for me in the last couple of years but i thought the performance was awful.

far far too busy and it came across very gimmicky, which was exactly the reason why people went off her. i think a couple of songs (sung without trying too impressionate him vocally) and something without all the costume changes would have gone down far better. was just a bit all over the place.

Posted by: Joe. 16th February 2016, 01:23 PM

I think the main issue for me is that she seemed too (understandably) nervous and it effected her vocals a bit too much. She sounded so effortless at the Superbowl, but I guess this was technically a much more difficult performance.

Posted by: Virginia's Walls 16th February 2016, 02:13 PM

I thought she was going to use a hologram like the Olympics or at least his vocals too.

Posted by: Mackenzie 16th February 2016, 03:54 PM

wish she covered less songs over a longer time span something like 8 minutes, ideal song choices:

01. Space Oddity into Ziggy Stardust
02. Life on Mars
03. Starman
04. Let's Dance
05. Chnages
06. Heroes

as for Intel I'm disappointed and I say this as a devout born again Lady Gaga fan

Definitely agree with this. It felt like they were cramming waaaay too much especially in the first two minutes and I think it showed in the performance.

Posted by: dandy* 16th February 2016, 07:47 PM

Just watched it and I thought it was fine. It was a bit manic but as a tribute it was fine, I particularly liked the opening with the faces of Bowie.
