So, now that we've heard all the songs (except Belarus' song assuming they still participate) how do the songs of 2021 compare to the songs that never got performed last year? Obviously some of these songs are quite new to our ears so our view might change as we digest them a bit but there's nothing to stop you from either answering now and then again in a few months or just waiting to do this until later.

(Sweden and Norway were already there )

Personally I'm much preferring a lot of the 2021 choices. I doubt my views on Norway, The Netherlands and Poland are widely shared but these three have a lot of replay value for me. So did Attention to be fair, but I wasn't huge on Grow or Empires.

Voices is MUCH better from Sweden for me, I love The Mamas but wasn't mad about Move.

ALBANIA: Fall from the Sky (Arilena Ara) - Well ahead, Karma is generic and 'Fall From The Sky' was one of my favourite ballads from last year.
AUSTRALIA: Technicolour (Montaigne) - Wonderfully complex song compared to the one from last year which didn't grab me.
AUSTRIA: Alive (Vincent Bueno) - didn't really care for either though
AZERBAIJAN: Cleopatra (Efendi) - gotta give props to the original for... originality
BELARUS: Da vidna (VAL) - lol
BELGIUM: The Wrong Place (Hooverphonic) - night and day, turning one of the most boring of last year into a fun alt pop trip
BULGARIA: Tears Getting Sober (Victoria) - love her new one still but Tears Getting Sober does have that extra stanning magic this doesn't have

I prefer Ulrikke's new single over Tix but I unashamedly love "Fallen Angel" way more than I ever did "Attention" - it's a great song and she delivered a great performance but Tix is a really weird guilty pleasure of mine

*Even though I'm far from a Jendrik hater, Germany are still in my top 10/15


2021 has shaped up really well to say that all of my top 3 acts from last year were thrown in the trash

I agree, Attention is vocally brilliant and a strong song but for some reason I never return to it. Fallen Angel is more my type of thing, it has a strange charm to it.

On Germany, the two songs are impossible to compare really, and I could pick Violent Thing on a different day. However, it's not something I ever seek out to play, whereas Jendrik does have a certain 'must hit repeat' value to it.

Slightly in favour of 2020, but a fair few of the ones I preferred in 2020 such as Slovenia, Portugal, Denmark, North Macedonia and Albania, weren't big favourites anyway. I'd say 2021 is a better year overall for sure!
