BuzzJack Music Forum _ UK Charts _ Who will win March 9th album chart battle?

Posted by: Scene 8th February 2018, 09:17 PM

Both albums are released on March 9th, both targeting the album-buying demographic. One has a hit (albeit from 2 years ago) to sell on, the other was on Strictly. Who do you think will do best?

What a funny comparison? laugh.gif

Calum

Calum, no contest. Close the thread now laugh.gif

Barring a miracle, Calum Scott surely? Better name recognition and has had a more recent hit. That's what I'd expect anyway.

The Strictly moms will be oot in FORCE for Alexandra ... the ones not part of the racist bullying, of course x

Can't believe she has a new album out ohmy.gif And that it's out so soon!!

Forever v Shite too Shite II.

I'd have said Burke was undoubtedly a bigger name? Especially after Strictly. Calum's had one hit and it was well over a year ago now.

I think Burke will win this but neither will be particularly huge sellers.

Both will bomb.

Posted by: Scene 8th February 2018, 09:27 PM

I'd have said Calum too but Strictly did wonders for Alesha and SEB's music careers briefly after. They're both going to get airplay on Radio 2 (probably the only major station that will play either).

Posted by: danG 8th February 2018, 09:45 PM

Alexandra but neither will make the top 10.

Posted by: Scene 8th February 2018, 10:14 PM

Going by last week, they'd only each need to sell around 6.3k to make the top 10. Although I'm not sure if HOH even managed that. laugh.gif

I think both albums are unlikely to do well. Callum has only had 1 big hit sometime ago which is a tacky cover version and Alexandra will struggle after a hiathus. Callum will probably edge it!

Posted by: Frooot 8th February 2018, 10:20 PM

Calum?

I'm not even expecting Alexandra to open with more than 2.5k

Posted by: T Boy 8th February 2018, 10:23 PM

Probably Ed Sheeran tbh.

Posted by: Dobbo 8th February 2018, 10:50 PM

Calum very easily.

This is a battle for #29 right? tongue.gif

Nah but seriously I think Calum might get a half decent album position (especially if 'You Are The Reason' does actually take off more) and will quite easily chart higher than Alexandra.

Posted by: Shia LeMuffQueef 8th February 2018, 11:14 PM

Wait. This is an indirect chart battle between Leona and Alexandra!!

Posted by: Mack. 8th February 2018, 11:18 PM

Alexandra to win to #9 just and the inevitable drop down the chart next week.

Posted by: Joe. 8th February 2018, 11:57 PM

#29 you mean?

Posted by: HarryEzra 9th February 2018, 12:05 AM

Calum quite easily tbh

I love aleaxadra Burke and would love her to succeed but unless .a miracle happens I can see these both flopping sadly

I mean just look at the pre-order chart battle wink.gif

Posted by: Crazy Chris 9th February 2018, 10:21 AM

Alexandra has no chance. Top 10 for her at best.

Posted by: FleetSeb 9th February 2018, 10:38 AM

Neither are exactly big name releases!

Posted by: truly talented 9th February 2018, 01:27 PM

Both will probably chart top 10 down to Mother's Day then drop like a stone. Neither are likely to sell 50k in total.

What, even with you religiously compiling the year end lists you'd legitimately never heard that name before? huh.gif

It is hard to say at this point considering we haven’t even heard one track from Alexandra’s yet, or seen how well either will be supported by radio.

At this point in time I put Calum as he has a more recent hit.

Alexandra but neither will make the top 10.

well actually now I'm more inclined to say Calum seeing as 'You Are The Reason' bafflingly looks set to be a proper hit. but Alexandra will have promo on her side, could be either of them really.

Posted by: pes 9th February 2018, 08:04 PM

Alexandra pushback her album of one week..so coffee.gif

Posted by: Cameron 9th February 2018, 08:13 PM

Calum will be #18 with Alexandra #34

Yeah I just saw this on her twitter. Hopefully there won’t be massive competition with new releases that week.

I was wrong to doubt Calum then, there's no way Alexandra will make top 10, let alone the top five, she'll probably miss the top 20 too.

I called it xx

I stand by my prediction of Alexandra getting to around #29 at best.

Alexandra will do an Una Healy AT BEST.
