For those of you who have taken the life lengthening decision to give the Portuguese NF a miss but are still interested in whether Portugal can "do an Austria" and come last on home turf, this won the first semi final tonight quite convincingly, coming 2nd with the jury and winning the televote. The jury winner was largely ignored by the public and the juries weren't keen on the second placed televote song.

I'd have liked to have seen a Salvador & sister duet (or sister on her own) for Portugal this year to celebrate them hosting, much like when Germany won and hosted.

I'm glad Piçarra bowed out, his song was a bit nothingy and it would've sucked in all the votes as he is massive in Portugal.
Cláudia Pascoal's "O Jardim" is absolutely stunning so I'm crossing everything in hopes she wins now. |

I'll be watching, depending on what time my 'good' neighbour leaves my house tonight, but as long as I catch Cláudia's performance and the results I'll be good

I'm over the moon. It's not a crowd pleaser but it's absolutely stunning and beautifully produced and performed, I'm very proud of it. It's my personal favourite entry for this year - so far.

Ooh, this is good! It really stands out as different just like Salvador did last year.

Really lovely, hope it gets them another good finish.
Amazing what one good result can do to a country’s ability to take the competition more seriously (see also Netherlands and Bulgaria in recent years). |

This is by far Portugal's most modern entry ever, really really surprised! Gives me London Grammar vibes, something I think will be even more pronounced once I hear a studio version and the production is clearer.

Finding this entry really quite mesmerizing; they're definitely on form! I'd love to see this come top 10.
