V2 :
YTD Sales : Please read these guidelines before you request sales estimates, it makes my task a lot easier (apologies to regulars for the repetition). 1. Please check the thread before requesting estimates - they may already have been answered. Also, if a single or album is in the YTD T40 you'll get total sales on Thursday, without having to ask. 2. Be specific on what you'd like to know - don't just name an artist or title & expect me to guess. Also, I'd be grateful if you could keep requests down to a half-dozen at a time. 3. If a song/album isn't in the weekly Top 100, I probably won't be able to answer the request before Thurs. Also, please don't ask for totals of such older entries *every* week - they won't have changed much - once a month should be sufficient. 4. I only track singles/albums that debut in the current year (provided they are still charting, and/or are in the top 200 sellers of the year), or big hits from previous years that have charted significantly in the current year (nothing before 2009, though). 5. Most of the big hits from before 2014 will now have dropped from my tracking range after the Y/E reset, so the Y/E 2014 thread should be your first port of call for those. 6. I keep a log of old sales totals from MW and elsewhere, see : http://www.vidcapper.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/...lesSummary.xlsx 7. Please note my figures are combined sales & streams, and since I have no way of separating them, there's no point in asking for a split. 8. Finally, if you spot any errors, please Personal Message me. Thank you. ***************************** Singles Pos - LW - YTD - Total - Artist - Song - New - Hst 1 - 1 - 790,778 - 1,277,000 - Mark Ronson ft Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk - 20/12/14 - 1 2 - 3 - 396,606 - Looks like this will be the week the sales of '+' are overtaken by those of its follow-up. Would have thought that would be too big an ask back when 'x' was released, let alone for it to be done when a fourth single hasn't even impacted yet! Ignoring the relentless popularity of 'Thinking Out Loud' when 'Don't' was struggling somewhat to take off and saving the push for it for the Christmas period really was a great (non-) decision on the label's part.
Interesting to see Paloma and Paolo so close in overall sales, as the albums were side-by-side or thereabouts in the chart for months (and they were together last week too). Looks like they'll both hit double platinum the week after next. I'm sort of amazed The Script's album will easily surpass platinum. Its consistency in the top 20 over the last few months has been remarkable. I know they're MOR/mass appealing etc. but 'Superheroes' never felt particularly big and with Danny off The Voice, everything seemed to point to them suffering a severe sales decline ('#3' is on just under 500k) before the album's release. They're a much bigger chart force in their own right than I'd thought. Also still at a loss as to how Dolly Parton and Barbra Streisand have each sold nearly 400k albums in the UK in this day and age! Fair play to them.
