There's loads of original dance music released all the time, it just seems to be lots of reworkings making it big at the moment.

my guess is it’s easier to get a hit with a reworking because of the familiarity factor.
back in the 00s we went through a phase of just about every dance hit being a reworking/cover too. looks like we may be heading for another one of those.
