Interesting to see Sheppard still to come in your top 10 Pete! Bombs Away is actually my favourite album of this decade so far I think but the recent singles, while good, haven't been incredible for me. Coming Home is certainly a step back in the right direction though and I did really enjoy Edge Of The Night.

Quite like the Lukas Graham song too, surprised it didn't get much of a commercial push!

good to see Avicii make the top 20 here, love Friend Of Mine. Would've made for a great single though probably not one that would've been a chart hit in the 2017 climate.

I don't actually know any of your top 10 oops.

If Friend of Mine had been the first single I would've expected some chart success! Also surprised you haven't heard some of my Top 10, they're not that obscure tongue.gif Thanks Dan!

rooting for Alessia in your top 10, such a great song and easily my fave from her

She's still a few songs away wink.gif Thanks Jeff!

Coming Home is actually my least favourite of the three! I just think it was too similar to Keep Me Crazy for me sad.gif Thanks Rob!

#9: Aedhi & Clément Bcx - Next To You

Peak: 01 / Month of Peak: February 2017

Aedhi's Chart History

Clément Bcx's Chart History
2016 03 Miracle in the Middle of My Heart
2017 01 Next To You (Aedhi & Clément Bcx)

Now if you don't like tropical house, you probably won't like this laugh.gif I remember Bcx from his amazing 2016 tune Miracle in the Middle of My Heart, and after a quick search I found that he'd worked with this song for DJ Aedhi's new album. I fell in love with it instantly, having to wait a couple of weeks for the album to come out so I could listen on Spotify, but it just continued to grow! Looking forward to some more stuff from both biggrin.gif

#8: MOWE ft. Cleah - Back in the Summer

Peak: 01 / Month of Peak: May 2017

MOWE's Chart History:
2016 01 Lovers Friends (MOWE & Daniel Nitt)
2016 06 Your Skin (MOWE ft. Bright Sparks)
2016 01 Back In the Summer (MOWE ft. Cleah)

2018 13 Who's To Blame

Cleah's Chart History:
2016 01 Back In the Summer (MOWE ft. Cleah)

Time for the final appearance from my favourite Austrian duo MOWE, and it's by far the best! I discovered this in December 2016, the world music influences really selling it for me, and I think it's the song that really got me into MOWE (if I didn't love them enough already tongue.gif) This is certainly worth a listen!

#7: Alle Farben & Janieck - Little Hollywood

Peak: 01 / Month of Peak: May 2017

Alle Farben's Chart History:
2016 01 Please Tell Rosie (Alle Farben ft. YOUNOTUS)
2016 06 Bad Ideas
2017 01 Little Hollywood (Alle Farben ft. Janieck)

Janieck's Chart History:
2017 05 Just Wanna Be With You
2017 01 Little Hollywood (Alle Farben ft. Janieck)
2018 28 Does It Matter

Now when I knew these two artists - a DJ who made one of the most memorable songs of 2016, and a singer who featured on what could be my all time favourite dance track - I had to give it a listen. And it most certainly didn't disappoint! Combining melodic guitar-strumming with a great dance beat and amazing vocals, there isn't anything not to love about this track, making it the highest peaking dance track of the year! (no dance left. be surprised ohmy.gif )

#6: We The Lion - Found Love

Peak: 02 / Month of Peak: March 2017

We the Lion's Chart History:
2017 02 Found Love
2017 69 So Fine

Now if I were to tell you I had some Peruvian country music in my EOY Top 10, you'd be surprised. You'd probably be even more surprised if you heard the song and probably didn't see anything special about it. But I love it. I found this when listening to the Peruvian charts (I know, I had WAY too much free time in early 2017), and this stood out from everything else by a mile. As I listened, it continued to grow, and I would probably say this is the song I regret not putting at #1 the most. And apparently it now has a video just a whole year later magic.gif

#5: Sia - Never Give Up

Peak: 01 / Month of Peak: May 2017

Sia's Chart History:
2016 04 Cheap Thrills
2016 13 The Greatest (Sia ft. Kendrick Lamar)
2016 01 Never Give Up
2017 07 Santa's Coming For Us

Isn't it annoying that my favourite Sia track is the one that did absolutely nothing officially sad.gif Anyway, this was my first #1 of 2017 and a song from the soundtrack of The Lion (another film I have absolutely no interest in whatsoever), this stood out from Sia's other music with both the Indian influences in the intro and the chorus which I found was a real earworm. And no annoying featured artist either!

#4: Finn Kleffman - Head Over Heels

Peak: 02 / Month of Peak: February 2017

Finn Kleffman's Chart History:
2017 02 Head Over Heels
2017 12 Coming Home
2017 09 Rapture of the Deep
2017 47 Freckles
2017 58 Legend of a Boy

And out highest non-#1 single is at #4 - and it's by someone you've probably never heard of. I discovered this in the Personal Chart of someone on here who posted one chart then disappeared into irrelevancy - but it included this track by German singer-songwriter Finn Kleffman, which I took to immediately. The lyrics were really easy to grab, and it caught on really quickly by me, and by everyone else I played it to! So I really recommend you give this a listen and see what you think!

#3: Sheppard - Keep Me Crazy

Peak: 01 / Month of Peak: April 2017

Sheppard's Chart History:
2017 01 Keep Me Crazy
2017 01 Edge of the Night
2017 25 Coming Home

And we finally get to the point where the #1 ranking equals the actual ranking magic.gif I hadn't really thought much of Sheppard until this, but when someone recommended this to me I decided to give it a listen. Whilst it didn't resonate with me initially, I knew it had growing potential so saved it to my list - one of the best decision I made this year. I soon found out that this song was in fact amazing - and I even kept it off the top spot for a few weeks to maximise its number of weeks in my old format. But of course it did make it, Little Hollywood the only thing stopping it making it 2 weeks.

#1 Ranking
#3: Sheppard - Keep Me Crazy

Alessia Cara - Seventeen
vs.
Declan McKenna - The Kids Don't Wanna Come Home

I'd been swapping these two around tons in the last month of 2017, but I finally made my decision...

DECLAN FOR #1

Sorry sad.gif

#2: Declan McKenna - The Kids Don't Wanna Come Home

Peak: 01 / Month of Peak: February 2017

Declan McKenna's Chart History:
2017 01 The Kids Don't Wanna Come Home
2017 03 Brazil
2017 08 Humongous
2017 03 Why Do You Feel So Down?
2017 87 Mind
2018 13 Listen To Your Friends

Up until literally the last week of 2017, this was going to be my #1, but it's just missed it. I hadn't thought anything of Declan until this came out, but it completely changed my view of him. The lyrics were so mature for his age, and resonated so much with me, especially about how people of my age are treated nowadays. It made me love this guy, and really got me interested in his music, and would have been a very worthy #1 - but alas, it was not to be. Coincidence or not, the video for this was released on the day of Trump's inauguration magic.gif

#1: Alessia Cara - Seventeen

Peak: 01 / Month of Peak: January 2017

Alessia Cara's Chart History:
2017 01 Seventeen
2017 11 Stay (Zedd ft. Alessia Cara)
2017 72 The Other Side
2017 16 1-800-273-8255 (Logic ft. Alessia Cara & Khalid)

Like I said, I was so close to choosing Declan as my #1. But I'd told myself that this would be the last song I would listen to before I turned 18, and I stayed true to this. Listening to that song, right then, completely changed my mind. It's so relevant to me, I knew that it was the first time I heard it in full, and yet to think if it had been released a year earlier or later I would probably have just passed it by. The vocals are amazing and the lyrics are even better, and I couldn't think of a more perfect song to sum up this year. And so, it therefore tops and finishes my 2018 EOY cheer.gif
