Shame about the lack of James Blake, although not a surprise.

I've heard of all but two of those albums which is good going for me with the Mercury Prize.
I have no idea who will win because I don't know the first thing about how Mercury judge the albums or whether they steer near the obvious or unexpected. I'd guess the winner would be from Bowie, Radiohead, The 1975 or Skepta as they seem to have all been really well received, but then they all do seem like 'obvious' winners. Interesting to see no Adele. |

So if i've understood this right, the artist with the most votes in the public poll goes through to the 'the final' while the other five finalists are picked by the panel? I'm guessing The 1975 would win the poll but we'll see
i spot 8/1 odds on a Skepta win with the 'Brokes, tempting *.* no Anna Meredith on the list though |

Great to see Skepta and Kano on there.
Jamie Woon too, it was feeling like this album had gone by a bit unnoticed! |

Aren't The 1975 just the bland indie nomination for people who like stuff like The Courteeners? Surely they aren't really in the running?

Still, good to see the panel come up with a 100% English list there

I didn't know how it worked. How long has the public vote been on operation? |

I'd like to see Blackstar take it.

I hope if Skepta is on there Kano joins him - such a good comeback by the later!

My bet is Blackstar. At least judging by the media presentation.

I haven't listened to everything on the list yet. I wonder if there would be a backlash against the prize if they have it to Blackstar?

Blackstar to win, not just because it's a final artistic statement from a Giant of British indie and popular and art music, but also cos it's a great album anyway.

I don't ever remember not just being indifferent but actually disliking so much of a Mercury list before.
ANOHNI is a really rounded, solid piece of work. Radiohead/BFL are okay. |
