BuzzJack Music Forum _ R&B and Hip-Hop _ M.O – TBA

Posted by: awardinary 26th April 2017, 04:25 PM

Another piece of pop news this week comes from M.O who appear set to serve up their latest pop offering!

This follows on from the success of Who Do You Think Of? and the unfortunate flop of Not In Love (featuring Kent Jones).

Standby for another smash! dance.gif

Should be in urban!

But interested to see what they put out next...

Posted by: cqmerqn 26th April 2017, 05:47 PM

Is it just speculation..?

Is it just speculation..?

Not if it's on their official twitter account (unless it was hacked! laugh.gif)

Posted by: Jonjo 26th April 2017, 10:42 PM

Hopefully it's news on that album! drama.gif

I would like them to feature everything they've released on the album! It's just wall to wall of bangers so far! They deserve to be a lot bigger than they currently are!

...

Posted by: Klaus 27th May 2017, 08:15 PM

Wait, so she stayed with the band through those numerous releases over the past few years where they were building up hype and support and quits NOW after they've sort of broken through finally?? Its as though she's having Mini Viva flashbacks due to Not in Love performing not as good as WDYTO laugh.gif

I don't get why you would put in all that work and then quit when it is starting to pay off?

Posted by: George.keh 27th May 2017, 08:47 PM

Do we know for certain that she's left

Posted by: Dobbo 29th May 2017, 08:31 PM

I highly doubt this will be smashing anything unfortunately. They looked like they had some potential to at least be Neon Jungle level success but I've just lost interest in them now...

Posted by: ML Hammer95 29th May 2017, 09:54 PM

Frankee was the fittest member I think, follow her on Instagram. wub.gif

Who Do You Think Of was a smash primarily because it fitted trends. Not In Love was much poppier and didn't perform as well. Its a shame because a British r&b crossover group would have been welcome but they arguably went too pop.

Female urban artists from the UK are doing good right now anyway.. artists like Mabel, Ray BLK, Jorja Smith, RAYE, Stefflon Don't, Nadia Rose, Lady Leshurr etc. Its healthy.

Posted by: cqmerqn 29th May 2017, 10:53 PM

They just seem to have little personality. That's their problem. Not In Love did okay considering they've only really had one minor hit.

They need to come back with a banger and hopefully they can set theirselves up nicely for a big proper breakthrough.

Posted by: Liаm 29th May 2017, 10:54 PM

Yeah I agree, Who Do You Think Of was a flawless song to break them through, it followed the right trends but it didn't feel like it dampened their energy and aura as a group. Not In Love kind of did and felt a bit flat by comparison, but it did quite well anyway and was a good enough song, just not good enough. Something like The Line by Raye would have been fab for them I feel, we need a girlgroup with music like that I feel.

This concept of personality... I assume you're comparing them to a group like Little Mix. M.O. should never be trying to emulate that, their genre is R&B. Whenever I've heard them interviewed on 1Xtra they come across really well and the 'Preach' video especially showed personality. Just think that 'Not In Love' was the wrong song to release really.

I don't think they're coming back. But if they do, they shouldn't do pop. R&B with 90s influence is what made them stand out in the first place.

Posted by: Quavo (ft Quavo) 30th May 2017, 09:34 AM

Not In Love didn't even do that badly - most of my friends knew it and it did rather well on Spotify so the public interest is still there. They just need another tropical pop banger with the right support and they can easily get another top 40 hit.

Posted by: 360Jupiter 31st May 2017, 07:26 PM

Wait, what happened? Did one of them leave?

Posted by:  29. Sigrid 31st May 2017, 09:36 PM

Why would she leave NOW that the group are actually getting some chart success?!

Maybe you should ask that question to Camila Cabello tbh.

Posted by:  29. Sigrid 31st May 2017, 09:51 PM

That's a complete different story.

M.O have said (I think?) that they've been trying so hard to get chart hits. Now that it's happened it seems odd that she'd leave.

Posted by: Jack 31st May 2017, 09:56 PM

Frankee has been very distant sad.gif Annie & Nadine both have in their bios about M.O. on Twitter and it seems like ever since Not In Love underperformed, she's stopped caring. She's in Ibiza now for instance.

I think they have it in them to turn it around, 'Who Do You Think Of' was a hit and 'Not In Love' is still known but they need to be quicker. When I met Annie she said new music was coming very soon and they are playing Brighton Pride, Tramlines and V Festival so it'd be odd for them to do all these gigs with no intention of carrying on.

Is Frankee just gonna jump ship because she isn't instant A List with a group? laugh.gif It seemed to be her that wasn't bothered with Mini Viva too. I agree they have potential, as I said earlier and many have said they just need to get it right. It's a shame with girlgroups they get cast out with no chance as soon as they get one flop (not that Not In Love was really even a flop, for an unknown girlband who'd only had the one hit it did well). It would only tke a couple of singles more to solidify their identity, but they don't get a chance just because Not In Love didn't do the same chart wise as Who Do You Think Of :/

Posted by: awardinary 31st May 2017, 10:05 PM

Someone on the forum mentioned Neon Jungle the other day, I wish they were still around too.

Posted by: Jack 31st May 2017, 10:06 PM

They're still with a major label so they obviously have something coming up, and like I said them being booked for loads of upcoming festivals etc is promising I think. From further investigation, I think Frankee is actually sick and has laryngitis - they've kept quiet about it, but they've liked tweets when people have said 'maybe Frankee is sick'.

I know it sounds silly because they really haven't done much but I love them so much sad.gif I know how talented and determined they are, especially Annie from when I met her. I'm kidding myself if I think they're ever going to be huge but it'd be nice if they just continued to make music and get the odd hit here and there.

Posted by: Mr. C. Joel 31st May 2017, 10:35 PM

Frankee hasn't mentioned anything about M.O in ages though, The other girls haven't said anything and Wikipedia has changed to show band members as Nadine and Annie (Frankee has been removed - But could just be someone guessing/messing around).

It seems REALLY odd why they aren't saying anything yet, unless Frankee is deciding what she wants her future to look like?!

Either way looks highly unprofessional, they owe it to their fans to explain whats going on or at least acknowledge it.

Posted by: SeanGrey 16th June 2017, 10:48 AM

Been confirmed that Frankee has left the group.

Posted by: Cameron 16th June 2017, 11:46 AM

tbh they can easily replace her. She was by far the weakest singer

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 16th June 2017, 12:00 PM

I saw her pretty much (at least image wise) as being the focal point of the whole group.

Posted by: Jack 16th June 2017, 03:08 PM

She's stupid for leaving, she's not going to do anything elsewhere.

Posted by: Liаm 16th June 2017, 03:34 PM

Yeah it's silly, she'll like have the odd song on Soundcloud that gets put on Josepvinaixa laugh.gif I'm not sure the girls will do much either but at least with them she's just had a fairly big top 20 hit and a minor #42, so they have some standing.

Posted by: tommie 16th June 2017, 04:07 PM

Unless they've been dropped she's pretty dumb for leaving at this point. At least stick it out for another single to see if they can recover from Not In Love...

Posted by: (Zach) 18th June 2017, 02:16 PM

I thought they got a US deal last year?

Posted by: Mack 18th June 2017, 02:19 PM

A daft thing to leave the band indeed, Frankie.

Posted by: (Zach) 18th June 2017, 02:22 PM

Maybe she is battling with depression or something? That would explain why they have been so hush hush about it.

Posted by: cqmerqn 18th June 2017, 04:41 PM

Maybe she'll return soon? They had SO much chart potential!

Posted by: Juliano 20th June 2017, 10:52 AM

Actually super annoyed at this, all of those years of work, they were finally getting somewhere, super hyped for the album and then she just leaves.

Posted by: Mr. C. Joel 20th June 2017, 12:54 PM

TBH there's no reason for her leaving which makes me think there's WAY more to the story!

I do have a feeling they've been dropped.

There might be reasons we are unaware of such as her personal circumstances. I'll be very surprised if they've been dropped though.

Posted by: Jack 20th June 2017, 01:32 PM

They haven't been dropped, they're still listed under Polydor.

Posted by: burbe 20th June 2017, 02:35 PM

I'm glad they've not been dropped! Their last two singles have been SO good, I'm thirsty for more.

Posted by: SeanGrey 20th June 2017, 07:18 PM

They're still performing at V Festival in August which is a good indication the other two are dedicated to continue for the next few months at least.

Posted by: Juliano 21st June 2017, 03:43 PM

The Sugababes weren't huge until Heidi... as harsh as that sounds.

Posted by: Jack 29th June 2017, 12:28 PM

Posted a picture on instagram on a video set I presume with three girls feet. Rumours are that it's Jess who was in Neon Jungle, probably trying to disguise the fact that my much has changed as Jess looks similar to Frankee laugh.gif Mess. Interested to see if this works out for them, unfortunately I have my doubts.

Posted by: tommie 29th June 2017, 01:36 PM

Look: on point.

Intrigued to hear any new material they put out.

Posted by: Juliano 29th June 2017, 02:54 PM

That would be awesome, Jess held my hand at a gig hahaha!

Posted by: Klaus 29th June 2017, 06:59 PM

Love that they replaced a blonde afro-haired member of a failed girl group with a blonde afro-haired member of a failed girl group!!

Posted by: RobBob 29th June 2017, 07:45 PM

It's quite a clever idea though, considering they're not that well known, I'm sure nobody will even notice laugh.gif

Bet Fleur East is raging she didn't get a chance to audition

I'm howling!!!!! laugh.gif

A while ago Shereen from Neon Jungle was listed on their Wikipedia page as a member but she's doing some music with her family according to her Instagram whereas Jess seems quite happy doing The Saturdays thing aka being a Mum. I'd be intrigued to know if it is Jess though thinking.gif

A song called Play On has been added to their Spotify but it’s just the No Diggity instrumental very bizarre

Posted by: Skeleton💀Wardy 14th October 2017, 05:28 PM

Let’s just face it, they’re over. There’s always going to be rumours floating around, but the short days of M.O releasing chartworthy material is over. Time to love on to another girl group.

Posted by: FreddyVsJupiter 14th October 2017, 06:46 PM

Given that Shereen from Neon Jungle is now on X Factor, guessing they've gone back to the drawing board in terms of members?

Posted by: Calcified Froot 14th October 2017, 09:38 PM

They have got someone else, I saw on their Twitter a while back.

Don’t really know what’s happening with them and I don’t really get it either. They’ve spent so mich time getting to where they are, building up support etc with so many releases and they finally break through, have a small hiccup with Not in Love peaking just outside the Top 40 and suddenly they go AWOL.

Posted by: jessie j 15th October 2017, 09:54 AM

idgi tho, Not In Love was a decent sized hit?? why they didn't keep releasing singles after that is beyond me?

Posted by: The Burbadook 15th October 2017, 12:18 PM

Not In Love really should have been bigger but they still had so much more to give!

Posted by: Jack 15th October 2017, 12:33 PM

It makes me really sad tbh sad.gif

Annie told me that music is coming 'very soon' and they keep on putting pictures up of them in the studio but it's just not happening.

Yeah, they released a ton of "promotional" singles and then three proper until Who Do You Think Of? finally made a decent splash in the top 20. Then Not In Love happened and they just gave up. I can't see them releasing anything else. It's almost been a year since Not In Love now...

Posted by: Jack 22nd December 2017, 05:41 PM

I doubt anyone cares, but it FINALLY looks like they're getting a move on. They've filmed the video and recorded their next single which features Mr Eazi!

Promising that they've got an upcoming rapper joining them, but I still don't hold much hope for another hit. I'm glad they are actually trying though, apparently they had contractual issues when Frankee left hence the delay.

If the song is good, I see no reason why they couldn't have another hit!

If they released an on-trend UK influenced record with a female R&B twist I'd be all for it.

Posted by: George.keh 21st January 2018, 11:24 AM

New single coming on Thursday 25th

Posted by: lewistgreen 21st January 2018, 02:28 PM

Ooh finally! The single is called 'Bad Vibe'

Posted by: (Zach) 21st January 2018, 04:30 PM

I'm excited to hear this. I really loved WDYTO and NIL. It's too bad the latter didn't pick up steam.
