would there be any point in him releasing all 10 tracks from the album and then releasing the album though?
I thought the whole idea was that he doesn't like the album format and just wants to be a singles artist. |

Just had a search and found some articles stating this is indeed the case - although not sure how reliable The Sun is |

thats basically what he did with 18 Months, 6/7 singles then the album
but I think all he's saying about not wanting to release albums is cos his last one (Motion) kinda flopped it's a bit of a childish response, like Olly Murs saying the charts should have airplay cos no one streams his songs |

it's not comparable to that at all...
he doesn't want to release albums because he wants to have a constant presence in the chart which is easily achievable when you release a new song every month, but not when you are following the traditional album format. his last album did not flop, it did very well for a dance music album (not half as well as '18 months' but still well). he just knows where the trends are going and is capitalising on himself being a singles artist. |

As has been said many many times before, YouTube is VIDEO streaming. The OCC quite sensibly have decided to only count AUDIO streams, otherwise songs would be getting big chart boosts simply because people want to watch the video. so if people want to watch a video it is even more 'consumption' than audio only. Why does not video count towards the charts? Chart does not mean specifically audio If someone watches video he consumes music more as video requires more attention than plain listening to the radio or stream |

I think there went money under the table from Spotify to be recognised a 'leader' and a 'tout' in the industry.
Someone discovered the same guy sits in OCC and Spotify I think its all corrupted how youtube does not count but PAID streaming site - not available to everyone and not so popular yes This post has been edited by ankietarrr: 1st April 2017, 02:23 PM |

It's measuring each song's popularity, not each music video. |

Regarding Calvin Harris, while I do believe he will get more "hits" by releasing songs one by one, he WON't get more of them releasing them every 4 weeks. Playlists on Spotify and radio won't react that fast. I'd understood if it was every 10 weeks or so.

8 (9) Slide
69 (53) Calvin - Heatstroke And in four weeks he'll have another song at mid 50s, not very lucrative strategy I think (Of course there's a chance that the next one is a true banger hat everyone loves) This post has been edited by SKOB: 2nd April 2017, 07:30 AM |

Yeah it's quite a shy strategy so far. Depending on songs he could get moderate hits every other or third month but radios will fall into mess not knowing what of his songs to play.
