The highest appearance of this this year. 118: Amongst Wolves - Not Dead (905pts) NE (17/12/2022) 47-44-41-34-23-21-21-22-29-50-60-60-60-60-60-60-60-78-87-98-xx A pretty catchy one with a quirky music video! 117: NEEDTOBREATHE - Dreams (ft. Judah and the Lion) (907pts) NE (30/9/2023) 14-14-15-17-20-22-29-40-46-49-60-73-xx Another NEEDTOBREATHE album track lands here - this one is also fairly catchy, I hadn't heard of Judah and the Lion before but heard one of their songs in a Starbucks the other day so sould maybe give some of their other stuff a listen! 116: Hilltop Hoods - A Hard Day's Night (ft. Montaigne & Tom Thum) (913pts) NE (31/12/2022) 84-40-26-25-23-15-16-26-41-41-41-41-41-41-41-54-62-70-83-96-xx The trio famed for their collaboration on '1955' re-convened on this one this year, this didn't have quite the bouncy-ness of that one but retains the fab vocals and brassy-ness. 115: LZ7 - Last Night (914pts) NE (10/12/2022) 68-36-33-31-23-19-17-22-29-40-59-76-76-76-76-76-76-76-96-xx 114: Katy Nichole - Please (919pts) NE (11/2/2023) 18-15-13-13-13-13-13-13-13-18-29-36-46-58-76-85-96-xx 113: Jet Trouble - Heaven Come Down (920pts) NE (4/11/2023) 82-39-34-24-21-19-21-... I discovered this one after enjoying 'I Need You' which is still to come here - this is a fab song which is more focussed on the emotion in the vocals than the instrumentation. 112: Belle and Sebastian - I Don't Know What You See In Me (921pts) NE (4/2/2023) 71-42-34-21-21-21-21-21-21-21-20-30-37-47-59-77-86-97-xx 111: Lukas Graham - One By One (922pts) NE (4/2/2023) 16-14-23-32-32-32-32-32-32-32-45-52-63-74-82-xx The highest Lukas Graham track in here this year - this is an emotional one speaking about how life and time do pass by eventually. 110: Consumed By Fire - Goodbye Ole Me (926pts) NE (15/4/2023) 28-25-26-14-10-18-25-26-29-38-50-62-68-75-95-xx This is a very cheesy worship song, but a very catchy one as well! 109: San Cisco - Under the Light (930pts) NE (23/9/2023) 75-69-59-60-62-74-75-38-27-23-24-25-34-... It took me a while to fully get into this one, but San Cisco do finally shake off the one-hit wonder tag here! 108: almost monday - only wanna dance (939pts) NE (13/5/2023) 85-80-68-61-58-44-34-30-24-24-23-31-33-41-48-57-70-86-90-94-xx 107: Joker Out - Carpe Diem (942pts) NE (20/5/2023) 57-61-43-36-28-23-26-26-30-39-42-50-53-55-67-72-87-89-93-xx This didn't immediately strike me during Eurovision, but after a few plays it slowly became a favourite! As a result I didn't fully associate it with the contest and so it had a bit of a longer chart run - the guitar riff after the first chorus really does get it going. 106: The Big Moon - Trouble (943pts) NE (12/11/2022) 94-48-41-32-26-29-43-42-41-34-33-38-47-57-72-86-86-86-86-86-86-86-xx 105: NEEDTOBREATHE - The Cave (945pts) NE (29/7/2023) 36-30-23-20-20-23-28-31-34-36-41-48-48-56-64-70-75-81-90-xx 104: Tembalami - Misodzi (947pts) NE (28/10/2023) 14-12-14-17-18-20-27-47-... The highest song (I think!) from Zimbabwe, this is a fab song mixing African music with a more dance-pop style as a few other songs from the area have been doing! 103: Scouting For Girls - The Missing Part (947pts) NE (11/11/2023) 22-19-14-16-18-24-... Scouting For Girls still have the power to put out a good song! Again this is a little bit cheesy but fun to listen to as well. 102: Sam Bowman - Whisper (949pts) NE (15/4/2023) 39-7-7-8-11-19-29-38-43-65-72-85-91-xx Despite being a Christian song, this one has a little bit more of a spooky vibe to it! Definitely worth a little listen. 101: Ed Sheeran - Boat (960pts) NE (13/5/2023) 93-37-8-6-6-11-15-18-25-36-52-61-70-77-90-xx I realise technically this is the highest Top 20 song in my countdown as opposed to Peggy, but one week at 15 does feel like a bit of a cheat! This is a beautiful emotional track though, focussing on both hopelessness and resilience. |

This is the only Sherlocks song to crack my chart this year but it's a good one, and a lot more mellow than their usual fare. Mountain was a great track from Sam, if still not as good as SPACE MAN. I rather liked Voyager's Eurovision song too! |

On first listen it sounds a bit jarring, but I've eventually grown into enjoying the jarring-ness. Similar to Joker Out, as it entered my chart later it didn't feel Eurovision-y and therefore managed a fairly lengthy chart run. The lyrics about people who have been hurt don't want others to feel the same combined with a great melody really make this song. A nice reflective one to listen to. There's nothing groundbreaking about this one but it's a very pleasant listen and a good worship song! The latter of that produced this quirky track, Swim to Sweden. Why would you want to swim to Sweden specifically? Not sure, but methinks there's probably an element of alliteration in there, as the rest of the lyrics don't make too much sense either, but still a good one to listen to! Home for your heart is a sweet tune! Glad it gave both cat and arrdee another top 40! Sam Ryder’s put a light on me is a major bop and I adore Black Friday! Boat was decent from Ed and although I don’t like the vocals, the instrumental of nanana is an Earwrm. Nice to see some Eurovision entries too, plus the syml track |

Like ever, I can't say there's much in your countdown that I've already heard but I'll give a couple of tracks a listen  It feels like ages since I've heard about Scouting For Girls so I've just listened to 'The Missing Part', It sounds pretty similar to what they were releasing when they were in the charts but even more saccharin. It's nice. I also listened to 'The Night' because although I've seen their name loads I'm not sure if I had ever heard anything from The Sherlocks. Another nice track, I definitely prefer it to the Scouting For Girls one. It does feel too short for a ballad-y type track though. I don't really remember Victor Vernicos's Eurovision entry but I've just re-read the rankings I did and I ranked it bottom from it's semi-final

'Promise' was one of my faves of Eurovision this year, was great to have Australia put in a great performance again as they'd sent a few songs I couldn't care for
yay for 'Forever & Always' making an impact here too, one of the best songs Armin's put his name on in years though mostly due to Gareth Emery's input 'Swim To Sweden' sounds the most intriguing here out of the ones I'm unfamiliar with |

Even in years where I have kept up with music more I tend to not recognise most of the songs in your EOY so I suppose not too much change this year when I've been listening to less music
'Carpe Diem' has also grown on me more since initially hearing it in Eurovision, and 'Promise' is still one of my faves from this year's crop too. (Victor Vernicos less so  )'Boat' was my favourite of Ed's charting songs of the year and '(It Goes Like) Nanana' is of course excellent so those are good choices to be the highest ranking UK hits! Also a handful of good songs lower down from Romy, Fred again.. and Tom Odell ~ |

84: Seafret - Wonderland (giving a check on this one as it sounds interesting. Honestly, never heard of any Seafret songs other than Atlantis and the BJSC entry) 97: Armin Van Buuren & Gareth Emery - Forever & Always (ft. Owl City) 120: Peggy Gou - (It Goes Like) Nanana 132: Kygo & Gryffin - Woke Up In Love (ft. Calum Scott) (yep, this is a mediocre-generic banger from the three. Would've easily become a UK hit after releasing that dire Robyn cover) 139: Sam Ryder - Mountain (I do love the Eurovision edit of the song. It elevated the original so much) |

I haven't listened to too much Scouting for Girls recently either (aside from their fantastic Christmas song) but this one really caught my attention! Also - a small error on my part meant a song which appeared in my 2022 EOY was accidentally in my list higher up here. That's been removed now so everything posted so far moves up a spot. I'm not going to change all the numbers, but that means that 'Boat' is now inside the Top 100 and 'Time' by Corey Voss makes an appearance at 200.
