7: GUTS - Olivia Rodrigo

After a 2+ year drought, Olivia launched her 2nd album era. Vampire was a major smash, but my top 3 were bad idea right? Get him back! And pretty isn’t pretty! It’s not as good as sour imo but still an amazing album! Cannot wait to hear it live next May!

6: 1989 (Taylor’s Version) - Taylor Swift

The 2nd re-recorded album Taylor put out this year, it claimed the entire top 18 in release week! Say don’t go is one of the biggest hits of the year, and what a song if it! Instantly into my top 10 of Taylor’s discography. Had the competition not been so high this year, it would easily be a top 5 album EOY, if not higher!

5: Midnights - Taylor Swift

And here she is again, Top 5 EOY for a 2nd year, after being the biggest album of the year. I respect Taylor’s dedication to keep this era going even with the release of 2 re-records, and it’s her biggest album with #1s, 7 chart toppers from it! Ofc it continued its domination in early 2023 as it had only been out for a few months, and then in May it got a boost with the deluxe version featuring More Lana, Hits different and Ice Spice. And then again in November when you’re Losing Me went onto streaming! Expect loaaads of midnights songs in the EOY Songs!

4: Amelia - Mimi Webb

Mimi had a great year, with Red Flags being one of the biggest songs of 2023 (is it the biggest?!! Wait and see). The album had another 3 hits in Roles Reversed, Freezing and #1 last Train to London, and then when I saw her live in April (on my actual birthday!!) it had another boost! Great debut, can’t wait to hear more from Mimi!

3: Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) - Taylor Swift

Speak Now got irs flowers in July when the TV was released. Enchanted got its moment everywhere, and we got one of Taylor’s Best music videos for one of her best songs I Can See You, which was a 5 week #1 in my charts! My faves from the og speak now Haunted and Better Than Revenge also got their moments!

2: My 21st Century Blues - RAYE

I love RAYE so much! And this album is literal perfection. I adore how personal she was, and what a set of songs! 4 pc #1s from it, and continued domination from Jan, the album dominated in Feb and then again in March when I saw her live and now again in November after the amazing live album! I hope RAYE gets her well deserved flowers and I can’t wait to see how she goes into the new year!

And my #1 album of the Year
The Good Witch - Maisie Peters

Maisie has been constantly on the top of her game, and this year was no different. Kicked off the year with a #1 in Body Better (what a song) then again with Lost the Breakup. Album release gave Maisie the whole top 15, with another #1 in BSC plus hits Watch and History of Man. In September There it Goes had a moment getting to #1, and there was album impact in November after I saw Maisie live at Wembley Arena! No album dominated so much and so regularly through the year as the Good Witch, giving Maisie a well deserved #1 EOY album!

201: Miss America - Mae Muller

The unlucky song to just miss out, Mae Muller’s Miss America. Her album was good but only a few major standouts, this being one of them!

207: This is the Life - Amy MacDonald

This is one of the songs I’d say soundtracks my childhood, with my dad being a huge Amy MacDonald fan! it charted after tiktok virality and a refound love for the song!

208: I Knew You Were Trouble (Taylor’s Version) - Taylor Swift

This actually repeaked in early 2023 after I found a Spotify podcast featuring a live rock version, it just misses out as it’s first week of the new chart run was in the last week of 2022 and so didn’t contribute points

215: Muddy Feet - Miley Cyrus feat. Sia

The only song from ESV I properly liked! A grimy angsty song!

221: Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow (Live from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame) - Taylor Swift

What a stunning cover!

226: Shameless - Camila Cabello

One of the several songs to benefit from the rule change allowing older songs to chart following its virality, belatedly making mg top 20!

232: TRUSTFALL - P!nk

P!nk surprisingly did. very well officially with these songs from her album! Just misses out on a EOY placement!

234: Margaret - Lana Del Rey feat. Bleachers

Currently in the top 50, Margaret is looking at its biggest boost yet, it’s had 3 separate chart runs so far, could it go higher next year?

235: Stick Season (Cover from the BBC Live Lounge) - Olivia Rodrigo

Just made the top 2 in my charts, this cover is gorgeous. Where Noah’s version is hopeful this seems more sad, in the best way! I’m still living in delusion of a remix with the two of them

I'll always love This is the Life! Brings back so many memories from my childhood, and her fast singing (I feel like there's probably a more musical term for this but it's not coming to me!) in the chorus really defines the song.

Hi Joseph! Yep Taylor dominated 2023! Glad you liked the good witch too! Shameless is such a bop and deserved to me a major smash, same for Trustfall!

Maisie Peters
Run

4th single from The Good Witch
released: 23rd June 2023

Run was not one of my faves from the good witch. It’s a decent song but not one of Maisie’s best.

Chart Run:
NE 30.06.23| 14-26-32-37-45-46-x
