BuzzJack Music Forum _ Dance _ Dynoro & Gigi D’Agostino - In My Mind

Posted by: lewistgreen 26th July 2018, 03:34 PM

Lithuanian DJ Dynoro has taken the Ivan Gough/Feenixpawl song ‘In My Mind’ from 2012 and chopped it up with a subtle sample of Gigi’s L’amour Toujours to release this Tomorrowland anthem. It’s currently floating around the bottom of the Top 200 on Spotify.

Posted by: danG 26th July 2018, 03:54 PM

so did Gigi actually do anything on this or does he get joint lead credit just for the L'Amour Toujours sample? laugh.gif

not too keen on this on first listen, rather odd that this is taking off so much (it's well inside the Spotify global top 50 already) but maybe because the Axwell version from years ago is more my style.

Posted by: photografdemon 27th July 2018, 06:11 AM

As far as I know, Gigi did nothing and it's just because of the sample.
Tired af of this track, top-5 in my country and I hear it literally everywhere. Plus I honestly don't like that kind of vocal, creepy and bland.

There was like 'demo version' of it being played on radio stations before it's been changed to the joint version with Gigi d'Agostino. Here it is:

Some EDX vibes you can notice, and imo this one sounds a bit better.

Still climbing *.* Top 70 on Spotify now!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 3rd August 2018, 04:52 PM

Entered the official chart at #100, it's coming!

Posted by: Hans 3rd August 2018, 05:04 PM

Had a first listen to this last night - quite a dark dance track! Expecting it to grow.

Posted by: BridgeCow 3rd August 2018, 05:29 PM

I do like this, but it makes me just want to listen to the original In My Mind lol

Posted by: Klumzee 3rd August 2018, 06:03 PM

this is a bit odd! It's a bit lifeless yet I'm coming back for repeated listens - think if it had a bit of oomph in the backing music it'd be fantastic! Not sure it's a hit but I'd like to proven wrong.

Posted by: mdh 4th August 2018, 06:42 PM

This is wonderful, would love for it to be a hit wub.gif

BANGER! music.gif

Now up to #68 in the official UK chart!

Posted by: lewistgreen 10th August 2018, 05:58 PM

This is legit now my favourite dance track at the moment. Sounded really good on Dance Anthems earlier.

I thought the same as well! Was exercising during dance anthems and this one stood out as being something special.

It kind of sounds like what Galantis SHOULD be releasing now, based on what they released in 2015/16.

Posted by: JosephAvery 13th August 2018, 12:46 AM

Oh this is really quite good! Much better than anything Galantis put out if we're making that comparison, I love the darker feel the production gives it. It's so catchy too, it kinda has to be when it's so repetitive but it's not actually tiresome like most tracks with a looped vocal like this. Would love to see this blow up!

Posted by: Dexton 13th August 2018, 07:07 AM

Unlike apparently everyone else here... I’m not a big fan of this :/ It might grow but on first listen it was just really repetitive and didn’t go anywhere

Posted by: danG 13th August 2018, 07:47 AM

well it didn't take that long, I now love it. please be a big UK hit!

Posted by: BridgeCow 13th August 2018, 07:54 AM

Yeah I’m all over this wub.gif idek why but it’s soooo infectious

Posted by: lewistgreen 15th August 2018, 08:53 PM

Top 40 on Spotify *.*

Posted by: Oliver 16th August 2018, 09:09 PM

Heard this the other day and had to Shazam it, but my god I'm in love with it. It sounds so moody! laugh.gif wub.gif

Posted by: Jade 23rd August 2018, 10:56 PM

I usually roll my eyes at most dance remakes these days (tuned into radio 1 recently and someone called BIG PINEAPPLE had the audacity to murder my favourite song of all time with a Spotify remake sleep.gif) but this is actually really good ohmy.gif love the dark feel to it.

Posted by: Euphorique 24th August 2018, 07:47 PM

#36

so Gigi finally gets his much deserved top40 debut, although its baffling that massive hits like La Passion or The Riddle werent UK hits in the early 00s. I think even Ireland jumped on board.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 25th August 2018, 09:21 AM

If it could be big enough to allow more tracks like this in the chart, I'd really appreciate it.

Well it looks like this form of dark and atmospheric dance music is becoming bigger in the UK chart with the success of this and 'Panic Room'. Hopefully it will really start to become an even bigger trend at the end of this year and next year.

I am hoping 'In My Mind' will do even better than Panic Room.

Posted by: lewistgreen 26th August 2018, 10:07 PM

WHAT THIS IS A TOP 40 SINGLE NOW? UK YOU ARE AMAZING ❤️

Posted by: lewistgreen 27th August 2018, 11:48 AM

I spy that Dan has charted another song of Dynoro’s that was released before this called ‘Hangover’ which is a re-working of the Taio Cruz & Flo Rida track. Once again a banger.

Posted by: lewistgreen 27th August 2018, 02:51 PM

Also, why is this not getting daytime radio spins yet? Kiss is the only one playing it, but that's at night sad.gif

Posted by: danG 27th August 2018, 03:41 PM

I heard it on Radio 1 once but only as a 'let's see if you like this' kinda play. The people clearly like it though so hopefully it gets playlisted soon?

'Hangover' is great too, odd choice of song to sample (not even that big of a hit for Taio) but it works somehow.

Posted by: Dobbo 28th August 2018, 12:18 PM

This isn't really that great though, not enough going on with the vocal melody parts for my liking. Encouraging signs that an underground dance song has dented the top 40 at least.

Also is he really called DYE-noro? Looks more like DEE-noro to me.

Posted by: pippa 30th August 2018, 04:59 PM

Gigi has had so many stronger releases than this that deserve the success this is achieving.

Posted by: simonf 30th August 2018, 09:57 PM

Has this song even got an official video yet?

Posted by: lewistgreen 31st August 2018, 12:08 PM

Playlisted by Radio 1 wub.gif

No sign of a video yet.

Pretty much this. But back then they had to have a push by a label, these days with free market anything can chart really.

Posted by: gooddelta 31st August 2018, 02:38 PM

It's weird because Bla Bla Bla apparently charted in the UK at No.87 in November 2002: http://www.officialcharts.com/artist/9566/gigi-dagostino/

I have no recollection of it being pushed here at that time or seeing the CD single in the shops!

Yet I do remember a soft push happening in summer 2000. The track was a No.1 in my personal chart at that time. I first heard it on this compilation: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fresh-Hits-Vol-2-Various-Artists/dp/B00004YKYD

But perhaps the CD single was cancelled at some late stage. It happened a lot back then.

Finally Top 10 this week *.*

What is the version Radio 1 play? Feels like there's more prominence on that L'amour Toujours sample!

Posted by: Mack. 1st October 2018, 03:41 PM

Certainly a bit different this, continuing its stint in the Top10.

Posted by: danG 5th October 2018, 08:17 AM

So this is out today... of course Flo Rida had to re-do 'In My Mind' to make it sound like the Dynoro version. laugh.gif

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 5th October 2018, 08:33 AM

Oh my God, it's Good Feeling/Levels all over again. drama.gif

Is Flo Rida actually trying to come back lately?

Posted by: gavindeejay 5th October 2018, 08:59 AM

Oh dear. I'm glad Flo Rida's days are over!

Posted by: danG 5th October 2018, 09:05 AM

It won't actually do anything, he tried with 'In My Mind Part 2' off the back of the Axwell version getting really popular and that was never pushed.

Just vaguely amusing that he's done a Part 3 which bares more than a passing resemblance to the Dynoro version.

Posted by: lewistscream 5th October 2018, 09:55 PM

Yes at this now being a Top 5 hit!

Posted by: HannibalLetcher 15th October 2018, 03:30 PM

It is a really good song this, great to see this go Top 5 last week.

Posted by: lewistgreen 19th March 2019, 10:24 PM

REALLY late but we now have a video with Gigi removed from the credit and it’s a different edit laugh.gif
