for bob dylan I think like a rolling stone is considered by many to be one of the best written songs of all time so in that respect it should’ve been his number one.

Level 42 are another popular 80s band that never reached the top spot - they had 20 top 40 hits and 6 top 10s!

Good shout with Level 42, they need to be added along with Tears for Fears. It also dawned on me that the Cure should be there too (I think they've had 11 Top 20s) and the Foo Fighters (with 10 top 20s). I thought both would've had more! Two of my favourite bands.

but in the case of New Order, World in Motion counts, doesn't matter if it's under a slightly modified name (England New Order)
lots of artists record under different names (P Diddy, Puff Daffy) but all their hits count together |
