Top 100 for the 12th September 2020
Pete's Chart Commentary Declan's album bomb very much keeps him at #1, however it's Bastille who are now hot on his heels after climbing every week since its debut. The Key To Life On Earth also climbs back up to #4, howeer historically an album boost for an older song signifies the start of it tumbling down the chart so we'll see whether that happens here. Five more of his album tracks litter the Top 20. Lower down in the Top 40 we have new entries from Jeremy Camp, VIZE/Tom Gregory (who manage to climb from a #100 debut), The Coronas (with their third song this year) and New Rules' Emily (which I mayy have deliberately made enter for the sake of having two songs called Emily enter the Top 40 in the same week ). A few other debuts in the Top 100 as well, and of course Declan's two other singles climb as well. 1 [1] Declan McKenna - Be An Astronaut (1-2-2-1-1-) 2 [3] Bastille - WHAT YOU GONNA DO??? (ft. Hi Pete! Great to see Declan back up to #1, I'm just giving the album a listen while writing this - really enjoying it! And I'm finding that a lot of the singles are sounding better in the context of it all. Great to see The Struts and Vistas debut in your top 40, both are in my top 10! The Struts in particular was a real pleasant surprise, I've been a fan for a while and I'm glad it seems they're switching their sound up a bit on this one. Some interesting collaborations on the rest of the album as well... Another pleasant surprise for me was also NEEDTOBREATHE's new album! 'Hang On' will likely make my chart next week I think. What I like about them is you can hear their Christian influence which I appreciate, but it isn't too over-the-top or "in your face" like I find with a lot of Christian bands Great chart! I definitely agree that Daniel... sounds better on the album, I guess I'm a just a bit too used to the other ones to see tham as more than just singles! I need to give The Struts' album a listen (edit: when it's released), I've only hear this one and the Robbie one (which I instantly forgot ). Glad you're enjoying Hand On as well! Thanks Whoddy Hey Pete! Glad that Declan has a #1 song in your chart again, love his new album! I also like the big gain for "Chew On My Heart" and the debuts for "Hallucinate" and "Never Let Me Down"! Great chart! I love Declan's new album as well, as you can see Glad you like these others as well, thanks Sergej! Hi Pete! Great to see Polar Bears in the top 5 while Emily is close to top 40! Nice to see Never Let You Down, which wraps a really nice week from your chart! The former of those is still flying high in the Top 10 and the latter are both up into the Top 40 now! Thanks Jack Hey Pete! I'm really liking that new Vistas track - probably better than anything that was on their album which I thought was a bit over-rated tbh. What's that new Struts song? I didn't realise they'd released anything other than the Robbie Williams collab (which I love) - I'm a big fan of both of their previous albums so I'll have to check out that new song ASAP! Looking forward to the Declan takeover next week - it's a solid album And here is your Declan takeover According to Whoddy The Struts have released (edit: will release) an album, this one just appeared on my Release Radar and I liked it so it's here yay for Hallucinate finally entering, it's almost been and gone for me twice now. Never Let Me Down was a top 20 in my chart not too long ago too! Could very well be a Top 20 in mine as well! Hallucinate really hit me last week, not sure if it'll grow or not now though so that might well be its peak. Thanks Dan! |

Hi Pete!
Love to see so much of Zeros in your top 20 - it's my favourite new album for quite a while! I listened to some of your other new entries too - I liked the ones by VIZE and New Rules. I'm surprised that Lovefool cover at #98 isn't a hit yet on the official charts, sounds very in line with all the dance covers we've been getting lately! Great chart! |

Always wanted to be an astronaut Highlights for me include Bastille, Travis, Taylor Swift, Clean bandit, LEON, Dua, PNAU, The Roop, Little Jinder, New Order, Joel, though a sad goodbye to Welcome To Te Neighbourhood lots more I'm sure I'd like if I youtube them! |

Hey Pete!
Nice little takeover there from the McKenna! 'Rapture' is my favourite of the ones I hadn't heard so I'm glad to see that here, and 'Sagittarius A*' is pretty decent too. Overall, a solid album, just a shame it missed out on number one I've liked a few New Rules songs before and 'Emily' is quite nice. Hoping Bastille are gonna climb to number one next week! |
